Alicante (Alacant) is located in the southeast of Spain, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Alicante is the capital of Alicante Province, but also a port on the Costa Blanca in Spain. Alicante is the eighth-largest metropolitan area of Spain. Today, it is a flourishing tourist spot, which is visited by thousands of tourists every year, who come for the stunning beaches (Playa del Postiguet, Playa de San Juan), landmarks (Castillo de Santa Bárbara, Casco Antiguo) and the famous Spanish cuisine. Alicante offers the ideal combination of leisure activities and cultural attractions. The Alicante airport is currently the fifth largest airport in Spain and is the gateway to the Costa Blanca resort region.

I wonder why the Americans developed their habit of pronouncing the Spanish word 'costa' the way they do - saying the first syllable like 'coast' rather than 'cost' so they say 'Coasta Blanca, Coasta Rica' etc. It's interesting because British people don't do that
