We are very pleased to have just found your channel. You seem like a really down to earth couple and your videos are well paced, thoughtful, interesting and you don't jerk the camera around like so many inexperienced RU-vidrs! Somewhere I read you are from Bellingham, WA, which we have now visited a couple of times because our daughter is attending Western Washington University - such a nice town. We live in Sonoma, CA and have spent quite a bit of time in Spain, my wife lived in Sevilla for 7 years many years ago. Retired now, we are searching for a base in Spain from which to spend many months each year exploring parts of Europe we don't know yet. One option for us is the lovely town of Estepona near Malaga where we stayed awhile last summer. We are coming to Alicante for 90 days in February, and will then spend a month in England/Ireland (wife is from Liverpool). Very interested in your Alicante experience as it is a new area for us.. Sorry for the long post, I think you have some wonderful times and travels ahead!
Thank you Ernest! We try not to jerk the camera around as much as possible, pet peeve of mine as well. Hopefully each of our videos is better then the last. Yes, we are from Bellingham. Beautiful town that we will always call home wherever we end up. We will do a video on it next summer : ) We are really enjoying Spain, unfortunately we cant see it all in 90 days. We won't make it down to Malaga this round but hope to soon enough. We will have a couple more videos out on Alicante in the next two weeks. We hope they will help you know a little about the area before you arrive. That's what we hope to accomplish anyway. Thanks again and safe travels. Cheers
Heading to Europe on Friday for 3 months with a focus on the areas you are travelling. We have been binge watching your videos and getting super excited. Appreciate the financial review vids, very informative. Good Luck with your channel!
Thank you, Stephen. That is so nice to hear, it keeps us motivated! After Greece, we are headed to Portugal and then probably back to the Balkins early next fall. Enjoy your trip and safe travels. Cheers!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie Tarragona has Roman ruins, amphitheater, circus, praetorium tower and aqueduct ( Puente del Diablo). Girona is a historic medieval walled city and has an interesting historic core
Thanks Kitat! We wont be able to visit either of those places this time around. Too many places to visit in Spain and not enough time. Hopefully some viewers read your comment and are inspired to go. Thanks again for contributing. CHEERS!!
We have changed our packing ways three different times, and I will be switching it up a bit again the next time out! We will get it down perfect someday! 🤣
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Thank you so much! We are loving our tour of Europe. We left Spain for Montenegro, Albania, Greece and now we are in the Algarve region of Portugal. Thanks again for the support! Cheers 🍻
@@BrianandCarrie the Algarve is beautiful and I’ve been Spain many many times, I assume you will be checking out Italy, try southern Italy for great value.
Hi guys. I hope you will have the chance to enjoy the Mediterranean water. It is warmer than Delaware beaches, and it s what I really miss from my town.
Hi Fernando, we did get the chance to enjoy the beach! We where in Alicante for a month and went up to Calpe and Altea. Loved the area! Thank you for watching! Cheers 🍻
...an amigo of mine took some girl to a bar on the front... and almost had to sell her to medical experiments to pay for the drinks!! jajaja!! ...another time I met up with him for a coffee at a bar at Luceros... and we left there rather wobbly! As the beer (wot coffee?) was €1 a pint! lol Alicante, a city so lovely, i've lived there twice! ...and maybe 3x by 2025!?
Just a heads up - there is a reason why you don't see the locals breaking the red light / green light code. The police can hand out on the spot fines for crossing at the wrong places / times. If they are having a really bad day, they can even (as a pedestrian) give you a drink / drug test and increase that fine further. Best to just cross on green, but even then, don't assume 100% of cars will definitely stop - keep glancing left and right as you cross!
We are looking at doing exactly what you are doing. Slow travel to find the right country to settle down in for the best price. We are flying into Valencia next month and will be looking there and further south for areas. We are also interested in other countries too. What has been your best bang for the buck in your travels so far? Thanks
Hi! We just started our slow travel adventure in Spain. We are loving it here but also have a long list of counties we plan to explore and see how cost of living and quality of life compare. We will be sharing each location, including cost along the way. Enjoy your travels ☺️.
From what i can tell the right country in the EU to settle down economically, and friendliness wise is # 1 - Spain along the coastal side like Valencia and south there of. other countries would be Italy very beautiful and lots to explore and Portugal that is getting on the expensive side. We were last week in Roda ( a small village about 45 km south of Murcia) and stayed in Roda Golf Resorts thru Air BnB. For a 2 br, 2 bath our cost was about $110 per day total. One of our friends (Native of Belgium) has a Condo there and they use it to escape the winters in Belgium. The condos were very affordable any where from 120K euros and up for 2bed/2bath onwards. The place is gated and secured low maintenance fees like a 120 Euro per month unlike 500 USD in the US typically. in a mile from the place are restaurants, bars, pahrmacies, groc stores small and large chains etc and a flea market on Saturdays that sell the freshest produce (havent seen fresh veg like these in Ages), Clothing, sweaters, jackets etc. I got me a nice thick winter padded wind cheater for 20 Euros to replace the one i lost at the TSA. The cost of living there in my opinion is low and if you buy the condo and pay off your monthly expenses can be under a $1000 easily still eating out once / twice a week and cooking eating healthy foods in a calm quiet environment. The thing is that you should like that type of setting. The place is full of many European snowbirds,
I do not think you are competent to give opinions about Spanish cities if you do not speak Spanish. First learn the language, than visit your cities and only than give your opinion. Happy New Year Roland
@@BrianandCarrie Sorry guys... Could help it to share "my opinion"... Lol... Keep the great work ... Living n sharing... 99.9% do appreciate it....lol... Blessings always...
