Bob Ezrin deserves a mention here, because his production was a HUGE part of the Alice Cooper band’s sound and what made those records so great & iconic.
AC is a testament to his ability to evolve and stay in the game and always having the best musicians to play on his records... He's a great personality The Ballad of Dwight Frye is still one of the most bizarre things I ever heard... Good stuff!
Awesome! His album Flush the Fashion is one of my favorite albums ever. I think it’s criminally underrated. The riffs on it are extra special. The follow-up, Zipper Catches Skin is right up there as well.
I agree have been listening to early alice a lot whilst decorating dada also former Lee warmer a favourite a quess I like the character of Alice more than the rock side.🙂
Another awesome breakdown! The music of Alice Cooper, both the original band and his solo stuff, are very underrated. "Cold Ethyl" and "Black Widoe" are 2 more great riffs from the Nightmare album. "Guilty" from Goes to Hell is another one. "Brutal Planet" and "Vengeance is Mine" are great ones from his more recent catalog.
Kudos for giving this wonderful band the review they deserve. And also for giving Vincent Price his place in Americana. He was so wonderful to those of us growing us on the 60s and 70s
Those original Alice Cooper albums are my favorite you're really in my wheelhouse bud. Glen Buxton rolling Stone ranked Glenn the 90th best guitar out of 100. Huge great rifts!!
Alice Cooper was probably my first favorite hard rock band. From Love it to Death to Welcome to My Nightmare, I was constantly listening to those albums. I remember my Mom asking me what the hell I was listening to, especially Killer and BDB lol finally got to see him live on Halloween night many years ago, he brought the gallows out of retirement. What a show!
So impressive Carl! Thanks for reminding folks that despite the groundbreaking theatrics of the original group, it all goes back to the amazing music they made. They were far more than just a gimmick, these songs have held up very well over time. Essential.
Oh yes - that Vincent Price part is one of my all time favourite moments and memories listening to my records in my early teenage years - I'd play the Devils' Food/Black Widow medley over and over! 👍👍
Great as always - thanks for doing “Devils Food” one of the greatest songs but always wished it wasn’t so short on the album. I once shot an interview with Neal Smith at his house - Dennis Dunaway was there and they both had fun telling the story of each Alice album. Said “Muscle of Love” was returned by many stores because they didn’t realize the fake stain at the bottom of the cardboard box cover was fake.
I went to an Alice Cooper gig when i was really young and it was brilliant. He came on stage with a giant live snake, had his head cut off in a guillotine and did this amazing dance with a women who he started throwing about the stage when he swopped her for a manequin in the stage fog. It was great.
Carl, I love hearing these guitar sounds being recreated full out by you. It’s a real thrill. I loved Alice Cooper strictly for these amazing guitar riffs. So powerful. Thanks.
Carl back again with the quality content! Keep it up Carl, your channel will continue to grow! I really enjoy the way you speak about these songs when you add the theory talk in between a lot of this music. Helps solidify my overall playing and theoretical knowledge at the same time!
I absolutely love that old Alice cooper. Wow you're so right about Devils food. It gave me fits back in the day. It literally sounds like a ascension. Now I know. I'm at a stale mate on my favorite Alice album. It's one of either killer, billion dollar baby or welcome to my nightmare. Thank man! So so cool.
@@CarlBaldassarreMusic can't wait! I want to get you album, but with the grandkids birthdays and Christmas in the same month. Needless to say I'm tapped out at the moment. So it looks like it will be January. I'm not sucking up but you are my favorite modern guitarist. You style and influence are almost identical to mine. Of course your a much better player and talent Than I. I bet your album kicks serious ass. I'll order it in January and I'm looking forward to a non disappointing new record. I just know it will be great. Thank for all the long forgotten licks and songs. It takes me back to the best times of my life. Thank you so much.
Your quite welcome! I think you’ll like my Album Collinwood Yards - it’s a but progressive with lots of guitars. I understand the tight finance situation! I’ll hook you up with a discount promo code if you message me directly!
Great work Carl, again. I have really enjoyed these two videos. Such great riffs. Schools out and elected are so cool, but they're all amazing. Hats off to you sir.
Loved part 2 thank you Carl. For possible future consideration how about You Drive Me Nervous from Killer including the parts in the chorus which sounds like a bend and hammer-ons (possibly) going simultaneously, would love to know how they got that sound.
Just discovered your channel today..great stuff!! Im with you! I always heard that high B on "Mr Nice Guy"...so many great riffs & rhythms to pull from the Cooper band & his solo work right? Dick Wagner & Steve Hunter! Always loved the rhythm & lead work on "Its Hot Tonight" from Lace & Whiskey. But yeah, love your channel & your enthusiasm & the appreciation for the material you cover!
these guys were a great duo handpicked by Alice for the 1975. Welcome to my nightmare, album and tour. they played on more Alice Cooper albums and tours throughout the 70s.
Man you got that tone that sound right down to a science love your amp setup I miss seeing bottoms that look like that LOL. I was at that billion dollar baby show at the public hall in 73. It was a great concert, Man I grew up with Alice Cooper songs I can't count how many times I did under my wheels and Baby be my lover .. thank you Carl for all you do you rock😎🎸👍🍕🍻
@@CarlBaldassarreMusic I will definitely do that I will be sending your stuff out east to my music friends out there and Out West to my music friends that way I don't mind spreading the word about great talent and that is something you have
Can you cover Generation Landslide? Amazing and unique guitar and bass intro along with an incredible harmonica and guitar solo at the end. This song should have gotten as much airplay as all of other Alice Cooper’s hits.
Carl, nice job analogizing Elected to riffs from Hendrix and The Who! I always heard the similarity to Bell Boy but never noticed the resemblance to Dolly Dagger.
You’re so welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed the insights! Please share my channel with others as I need to grow my subscriber base in order to keep this going!
While I love the original group , Welcome To My Nightmare had top musicians . Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner on guitars . Prakash John on bass . They did the live Rock and Roll Animal album with Lou Reed . I saw them twice with AC . They did a guitar duel that went on about 5 minutes at the MSG show - in capes ! Top shelf !
I love Alice Cooper the Rock Riffs are Bad Ass. I mean how can you not love this band. All the Riffs are so catchy and I don’t know how anyone can’t love this band I mean to me they are one of the best.
Well Alice Cooper was born in Saginaw Michigan and grew up in Arizona so he couldn't be called Detroit however, Dick Wagner was the maestro, The One and Only. After the Alice Cooper time, his session work and working with Bob E. would take the Kiss Destroyer album to a whole new level. Since poor Ace was drunk and lying in a ditch somewhere at the time Bob came up with the lick for Detroit Rock City and Dick Wagner came up with virtually everything else however he only took credit for two songs. He was a really nice guy and his passing was kind of tough.
@@CarlBaldassarreMusic Carl don't ever feel like we're kind of being hard on you if you get a little bit of the history incorrect, we got you covered and you're doing an awesome job man
Thank you! I’m strong like bull! I just have high expectations for myself! But I love knowing that people feel a connection to what I’m doing and even “have my back”. That’s amazing. Feeling blessed!
Yes, I do very mujch love, "No More Mr. Nice Guy," but I always thought the I-iii-b7-vi prgression was a rip off of Dylan's, "Lay, Lady Lay." For some reason that slightly diminished an otherwise killer song. I guess every time I hears it, my mind would override the song with"Lay, Lady..." Shame, really, because AC are one of my favorite bands.
Try not to be too disturbed! That circle progression has been around since 18th century. It’s rooted in a circle of 5th/4th progression. It’s as common as a heartbeat! Peace….
I remember Alice Cooper from the very beginning. He does the most romantic slow songs. I have always wanted to write a slow song that would bring a sting of a tear to your eye. (I think I have one, unfinished. Sounds like something Lennon would do. And it will die with me. Lol) Anyway, check out some of his slow ones like “You And Me” and “I Never Cry” etc. Women love them. Lol
