The way she takes a small extra moment before her final battle cry, taking it all in, embracing what's green and the soul she bared night after night on that stage. Astonishing.
1:15 That pause for just one extra second! She owns the show, the role, the theather at that single moment. Her silence becomes as powerful as her voice. Magestic! Thrilling!
EXACTLY! The thing in common between those who believe they can and those who believe they can't is that BOTH ARE RIGHT. You can do ANYTHING you put your mind to!
@@Scandisk10 a call & response during a performance is when the singer/performer does their riff/or certain lyric, than the certain instrument copies the voice and how the performer sung it. You can hear in Alice's voice, she shook the note a bit. Then the trumpet did the same.
Watching her rise here feels like it could be the movie shot as Elphaba flies for the first time. Plus Alice's voice is just stunning in that moment and in all others.
I almost feel sorry for the conductor every time one of the big-name Elphabas (Alice, Willemijn, Rachel, etc.) do their last show, because you know they're just going to riff the shit out of everything they possibly can to go out with a bang and the conductor has to flail along furiously trying to keep up with her.
@@benschaeffer8102I honestly kind of dislike the London orchestra due to its different arrangement. Though it is powerful and energetic compared to broadway, some parts of the score is different from the original broadway score, especially one that still bugs me is that a lot of the trumpet part from the last chorus of defying gravity is missing. While broadway’s mixing and sound system has been abysmal in recent years, having one of the largest orchestras definitely makes up for it, which plays with a lot more depth compared to other international productions. Just wanted to share my opinion.
I had the GREAT pleasure being a child actor with this incredible actress in a professional show in 2016! Honestly, one of the best people I’ve worked with in my career!
OHHH MYYY GODDD!!!!!!! I’ve been looking for a video of this since I heard her last DG was coming up. And she did soooo good on her last one it’s incredible. Rachel and Willemijn have some competition.
@Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever saying that it's true is hating. I get that its your opinion, but its the way you present it that pisses off me and other people in the theatre community.
I was lucky enough to see her performance on my travel in London, and since then I can’t listen to the Wicked numbers sung by the other singers but Alice!I really wish they could release the new soundtrack with her voice!! please~
Can we just talk about how cool the ensemble looks during the last battle cry. Everything looks like it's litearlly in slow motion and they are being overcome by Elphaba's power. It's so amazing and I've never ever noticed that effect until seeing it from this angle.
That was awesome! I’m seeing Wicked later today in the West End and although I wish I was able to see Alice and Sophie perform, I’m great full that I get to go!
@Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever Thank you! Sorry for the late response lol. I hope you have a chance to see Nikki eventually if you haven’t already!
@Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever Yeah, I honestly don’t really like Laura at all either. I do feel kind of bad for her though because nobody really does. I’m glad I went to one of Nikki’s first shows in the West End so I didn’t have to see any of the standbys
@Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever I’m not going to judge the people who like Laura, it’s just to me personally her voice sounds so young and I don’t really like it. Honestly, her and Nikki Davis Jones are my least favorite Elphies.
@Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever why don't you just screenshot my comment and DM it to her, seeing as how you're clearly such besties that you know what she would think of that comment 😜
@Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever well if that is true, which is undetermined, considering I've seen you edit your comments to appear as if I'm attacking you, then that's her problem. I really don't see why you have to be offended on her behalf, particularly considering Ive done nothing but sing Alice's praises in every comment I've made about her.
@Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever You can play dumb if you want, doesn't change the fact that you did it. I'm absolutely not apologising to her for anything, and again, I don't know why you feel the need to be offended on alices behalf.
@Tucker,Fearn and Bentley’s Angel Forever other than the comment you just deleted? Not that I'm complaining, it would be great if you deleted your entire comment history. You're sitting there demanding me to apologise for a compliment! I don't care that she might be offended, and neither should you.
Alice Fearn is technically a much better singer than Idina - but IMO there's something very characterful about Idina's voice; her last performance is so ragged and rough that for me it kind of adds more character to the song!
RIFFS: 0:12 0:20 0:25 0:32 0:36 0:43!!! 1:01!! 1:11!!! 1:18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edit: Hope she returns to the role someday, I'll miss the classic broadway diva thing she brings to Elphie 😢
I know the london MD rushes a lot... but what is with him not watching her for the first “bring me down cue?” they literally watch for elphaba in every other production, why cut her off? especially on her last? alice killed it though!
Cameron Corcoran Same, usually in the US defying gravity feels quick, but i saw it in march in london and it was like she was up and then she was down. it’s just a weird thing their conductor does. it’s significantly faster than both broadway and tour.
Emerald City I’m seeing the London production in September. I’m really hoping I can take it all in. It just feels like that moment is gonna be over so fast lol. Unless Nikki takes it slower.
Cameron Corcoran I really hope they slow it down with this cast change! You’ll love it either way, it’s just kept getting faster and faster since emma hatton left
Got an audition tomorrow and I’m singing the end of this song I’m listening to a bunch of different versions to understand the character and the innovation of the end few notes Im really nervous for tomorrow now 😅
