they probably had her in a smaller cage because she was pregnant the owner probably has other hamsters and needed to keep them seprit so nothing ha-pend to her...if she loves her hamster enough to put a video on RU-vid they would probably put a water bottle and a weel in the cage !!!! they just put her in the small cage for filming ...they probably have a house!! :) and a bigger cage...

Our babies are born quite large, their heads specially. Aldo there's the fact that many humans have lost the habit of physical effort and the pain associated with it. Even within our species the reaction to the pains of labor is not the same in different cultures.

Personally, I have bred hundreds of dwarf Russians (hamsters, in case you didn't know the breed) and each time the mothers did NOT have a place to hide. This was so I could monitor her, and her pups! In the case of new mothers, sometimes intervention is needed! I once had a new mother who was so stressed she tried to eat her entire litter. Because she was not hidden from me in a hidey, she was only able to eat one in entirety. A paw was gnawed off of one pup while I 'rescued' the rest of the litter. I was able to safely place them with another older and more experienced mom with pups only a few days older. The bond I had with the older more experienced mom meant I could intervene and touch if needed. She even trusted me enough to bring her new pups with a different smell ;) the poster of this video knows what's up, trust me

Actually there not always eating them. When stressed or they think there in danger they put the babies in there pouches hence the thought that they ate the babies.

Aw. Why not do some research on taking care of small animals and try again if you really like them, or get someone to help you care for them as well? I'm not sure what the circumstances regarding the death of your pet were, but sometimes animals die prematurely due to reasons other than how they were cared for (eg: predisposition to illness due to poor genes). If you love animals and are sincere about being a good owner, I hope one bad experience won't put you off having pets in the future.

The one before that, she could have been old, she was full sized and living in a small town. No one goes to our pet shop too often. But I had to leave for a weekend for my grad. No one was around to take care of her and my dad hates rodents, so I couldn't ask him to... When I came home, I balled my eyes out. But the last baby hamster. I'm just a shitty pet owner for little critters... Forgot to feed it for a few days. :/ That's what happened to the poor baby. I just suck. ;-;

The death of the older one may have been beyond your control. I've buried 2 baby guinea pigs before so I know it can be depressing (they were stillbirths; made the mistake of buying a pregnant pig from a store even though the owner checked her and claimed she wasn't).

Prikjob Chinchillas are cute =) I wouldn't keep them myself though, since they need space that I can't supply and live for such a long time. But I'd love to keep a pet rat if I didn't already have 3 cavies. I work in a pet store and a customer brought in his pet rat once, it seemed so intelligent and affectionate - surprisingly so.

It can either be the female was too young or too old because very old/young female hamsters have the higher chance of having pregnancy problems. Try knowing when did the hamsters mate and if they mated less than 2 weeks before the birth it would've been a miscarriage or a premature birth.

It was small compared with male even after pregnancy n was same size since I got it so I never doubted it was pregnant. When I was trying to get it from pet shop among many, this was escaping so many times may be I divided it from real father in petshop. N when placed with male unknowingly in same cage in my home this was fighting b with male whenever male was touching its private parts. I think it was pregnant in petshop itself n also female was more aggressive than male n it was eating everything herbs, veggies, cereals, fruits.may be becax of pregnancy I guess. Now my only male alive eats only cereals, seeds.he doesn't even touch fruits, veggies. My female was jumping, running to much n tried to escape more n jumped great heights too n becax of that high probability of miscarriage too. I feel very guilty n sad

Yeah, but it's not here on this video. Not everyone watches all the videos someone puts out. I'm not the only one that wound up with tens of hamsters before I figured it out, over the years I've met lots of other people who had the same experience. The pet stores don't tell you that the one they're selling you just might be pregnant; you find out the hard way.
