I gotta say, out of all the AiB reactions on YT, this was the most fun to watch. Not too much talking and lot’s of funny moments and the never ending rush hour refs 👌👌👌♥️♥️♥️

Just like the players have to win games to stay alive and earn visas, the dealers also have to earn visas, but can only do so if the players lose the game. So since they won that 10 of hearts game, the dealers in that room were killed with laser beams.

Chishiya - English translation, “Cheshire,” referring to the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland - or Nike as you keep calling him, isn’t really good or bad overall; rather he’s against you or with you depending on if you’re interests work or don’t work with his. So you’d be right not to trust him but wrong to write him off - he’s not evil, he just wants to survive by any means necessary.

Chishiya is definitely not a team player. He's the embodiment of the "Cheshire Cat" from Alice in Wonderland. We could have a big expectation on Season 2 because the manga is really good. The Face Cards games are really something.

Idk but I definitely enjoyed Alice in Borderland more than Squid Games

Believe me, the face card games are something else and we're not ready for it. The difficulty, the tension, the physical demand will be in highest levels. The next season is going to be more than a banger!

The thing with Chishiya (Nike as you call him lol), is that if you read the manga you can see that this man just does not care about life whatsoever, being his own life or the lives of others, which is why he's so calm in all these scenarios. He's not evil by any means, this man is just trying to survive at this point lol. I wouldn't trust him but I sure as hell would want to be allies with him, cause he's too damn smart to not be allies with lmao. I personally think he's the smartest one in the whole show

I love AIB more. It gives justice to its genre: Mystery, sci-fi, thriller. Every episodes are thrilling and many questions were lingering around, making it more intriguing. It also has twists and turns that are mostly unpredictable,even the plot itself is unpredictable. Characters of AIB are soo good and everyone has their own unique stories. Even side character with minimal amount of screentime shined in the series. I love SG too but some subplot, even the plot itself, are bland and predictable, mostly doesn't have any great twists. Games are more likely based on luck and the mc has a "main character" plot armor. Characters are what made this series good, and its concept. Plus the displays are so aesthetically pleasing. Overall, I love AIB moreee. It's a death game and it gives justice to that concept.

22:47 Very good way to put it. After I finished season 1 I read the manga from start to finish and I think the reason why things get so unrealistic in the show is because it's just more so suited for manga /anime and things get a little goofy in a live adaptation (ex. punching a tiger, real life that's not happening but in an anime or page in a manga totally fine).

This series is the adaptation of a graphic novel, the manga "Alice in Borderland" released in 2015 and the writer Haro Aso created this fantasy and unrealistic world. This show was based on it, they changed some details but stayed close to the original for the whole. Damn the face card games are going to be such an incredible experience for us at the end of this year.

I personally think Alice in Borderland is better cause there is also soooo many Easter eggs people miss when watching Alice in borderland that tells you a lot about the entire story and could answer all your questions. One example is each characters name and their names in the past. Squid Games has a more realistic approach but it was not as exciting and felt a little flat at times. Where Alice in borderland feels more thrilling and exciting plus the fact that it was based on a manga and they did an amazing job with portraying that. ( the games are also way better)

I hope that you guys are one of us that are patiently waiting for Season 2 of Alice in Borderland (last quarter of 2022 as announced). Because that will explain everything that has been questioning us since the start of the series like: - The character of Chishiya (or Nike as you guys call him). Yeah he may be good or bad depending on the person he is with. But there is an explanation why his character is like that. Hopefully they will feature his story in S2. - The real reason behind Alice and all of people in Tokyo (at least) are in the Borderlands. - The true identity of the Game Masters (the lady in black who said that the players will play for the face cards is actually one of the Game Masters) - And the face card games (the higher the face card, the harder the game).

First off, great reactions! Really enjoyed this one! Imo, despite being a cliff hanger, we did get a ton of reveals which kinda wrapped up most of the first season. It did feel a bit "anime" compared to squid game, which is supposed to be a more realistic setting, but I also feel like it's the purpose of the show. Remember that this is a play on Alice in Wonderland, characters mirror Wonderland characters, so the mysterious element doesn't really feel forced imo. oh FYI since you guys seemed bummed about the end, season 2 will definitely end the series I've heard, it's supposed to be great so we'll see how they pull it off but I'm excited for that :D cheers!

I love Alice in Borderland more than Squid Game. I don't know it's because I watched too many Death Game Movies or because I read the manga, but perhaps most Indonesians would agree that squid game is too mild for its genre. Honestly I don't know why people so hyped up about it. Perhaps it's their micro expression acting. The reason why it's not realistic, hm, I don't want to spoil it but the terminology of Borderland or "Ima wa kuni" in Japanese especially on budhism is quite a Fantasy.

Well, ok. I’m glad you guys enjoyed the show, at least. 🤷🏽‍♀️ That’s a fair review and it makes complete sense. I guess those who enjoyed it more than Squid Game liked the sci-fi thriller, fast pace, anime-like feel to the show. I can’t speak for them, but that’s why I personally like it more, but that’s just me. It might also be because of the strategies involved with the games because they are more mind games than Squid Game’s physical games were a strategy isn’t always called for, (unless you want to call hiding behind someone in Red Light, Green Light a strategy 🤷🏽‍♀️) But I totally understand and I respect your guy’s respectful review. I loved seeing you guys watching one of my favorite series! I wanted to recommend Sweet Home or The Silent Sea, I'm sure you'll like it.

I do see why you think squid game is better than this show. The characters are more realistic and complex, and the story is more cohesive and perhaps better written. But I personally enjoyed watching this show a lot more. I can't really pinpoint what it is, but I've rewatched this show countless times. Whereas I couldn't do that with squid game. I'm also more attached to the characters in AIB for some reason.

I personally think this was better than Squid game because it’s more fast paced and the storyline is more thought through than squid game (in my opinion). But I understand this show can be over the top for some people your reaction was great 💫

Squid game was meant to be more realistic and this more fantasy. The first episode with the lazering from the sky I thought made the difference clear. The overall cast may be even better, even bit parts were good. There wasn't such an emphasis on the main protagonist as SG, which I didn't mind. Squid Game had a tighter script, though he was working on it for over a decade. Only the last 2 episodes of AiB felt like the editing was loose to me. In both SG and AiB I thought the penultimate episode was the weakest. I wish there was more direct backstory (like characters recounting) than flashback in AiB. The final game in SG wasnt that interesting. It was more interesting in AiB but they dragged it out. SG depended more on luck, games in AiB had to be worked out. The ending in AiB made more sense, they have play on, but in SG people can question why he doesn't see his daughter.

I like this one more than squid game just like most people who had watched both but I can get what y'all saying I think one of the biggest reasons why squid game become so popular aside from it being a Kdrama is that it's easy to digest, viewers really don't need to think much when watching it as the game rules are simple and we get most of our questions answered from the very beginning, while Alice In Borderland is way more complex both with it's plot and game rules. It's full of mysteries and it can feel more stressful to watch when you don't have any idea where the story is going to go next and whether it's gonna punch you completely off guard. I heard someone says that Squid Games are for casual watchers while Alice In Borderland are for enthusiasts and I completely agree with that

To be fair, this season condensed a lot of chapters and volumes from the Manga. Because of that, I can see why it could be considered to have too many twists. Still, every single moment of AIB still had me hooked, more so than Squid Games. For me, SG’s story didn’t feel as deep and the pacing was too slow at some points. I still prefer AIB over SG. Really enjoyed watching you guys’ reactions, would love to see you all react to Season 2 as well!

It'll make sense in the end. Yeah I read the manga. it has a totally different setting than Squid Game. Alice is more of the sci-fi/fantasy genre and it is supposed to be unrealistic, unlike with Squid game which happens in the real world. I mean this series is inspired by Alice in Wonderland, so it is supposed to be a fantasy. Alice in wonderland is about going to a different world, so same as this series. anyway, I can't wait for them to face the game master. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this: some connection with Alice in Wonderland, maybe more. Arisu is Alice pronounced in japanese. Usagi (the climber girl) means rabbit in japanese. Chishiya (nike guy) is Cheshire if pronounced in japanese Hatter -> as in Mad Hatter
