As a GenX'er I'm crying listening to this and knowing Layne is smiling that his song has impacted people in ways he never thought it would. Thank you for this 😭😭
When they discovered Layne's body he had been dead about 2 weeks or so and had to cut his window out on the second floor to get him out due to how large he had swollen up! Fun fact!
@@robsim4692that’s 1000% not true. I’ve been in law enforcement for a decade and been to 100’s of unattended death scenes. After two weeks your not swollen anymore, you have done busted open and leaked out and started drying up. He weighed approximately 85 pounds when he was found. Your spreading misinformation.
That was one of the best instrumental covers I’ve ever heard. You really comprehended the importance of capturing the whole of the prime melody, intermingling the vocals and guitar rhythm and leads and bass and rhythm, weaving them together masterfully… you didn’t do a rendition, you performed the true song on the piano.
That was definitely very amazing and very different. But in a awsum way. Thanks for sharing and keep exploring and expanding your talent and music taste
Jerry Cantrel is an underated genius. Like his style or not. This just shows how beautiful his music is. I would love and listen to this equally as much whether is was acoustic guitar/ electric guitar / piano or kazoo... Just a brilliant melody and song.
This is actually my favorite song by AIC. Sounds cliche', but AIC actually saved my life when I detoxed. A hellish nightmare that seemed to last an eternity was only made bearable by the familiar sound, the lyrical depth, the raw emotions,... Thanks Layne, I owe you 2, in fact... ❤🤟💯
I know it sounds weird, but the piano really suits this song. I’ve heard covers of many rock/metal/grunge songs on piano, but this one really stands out!
Couldn’t help but sing over it, one of the most emotionally wrenching songs ever made and you did it justice. If there is a heaven I’m sure Layne was also singing along.
It’s difficult to find words that can adequately describe how beautiful this is. It’s more haunting than the unplugged version somehow. simply exquisite.
And yet I fight And yet I fight This battle all alone No one to cry to No place to call home Depression Loneliness No words to describe signature song which always reminds us about Layne Staley 🙌🙌🤘🤘
@@YuliaGarnetthis is so well done. The way you hold the intervals between certain notes for just a fraction longer than I expected really worked to give it a subtle and twisting momentum. 🔥🎇🔥
On the piano, those notes sound voluptuous, somber, and enormous. The spirit of grunge mutates into a beast with large fangs, but it is not aggressive, it is a boat that takes us across the ocean, a beautiful and cold ocean, the color of emerald. I have grown up with Alice in chains, I will die with them too.
My Lord the typed word CAN in fact almost describe this masterpiece!! ** and yes, I too will have THIS played when I die, hopefully a long time from now and hopefully with my one sister playing it on the piano- i sent it to her and asked her to learn it!
Certainly, Layne smiles when each of us hears this interpretation. His message in this song will live on through Time. Thank you for bringing a few tears to my face with your sensitivity.
@@MRSTEEL-fd7eg A smile is a smile, even in a fraction of a second, even in hell. Just as no pain is eternal, a good memory is enough to alleviate any torment. Be in peace.
@@emirjr9528 you're only kidding and lying to yourself I can assure you and promise you there's no smiling in hell. So don't kid and lie to yourself because what you're doing you're suppressing the truth
No pain is eternal; that is exactly why as human beings we sometimes, from time to time, seek out emotional pain. We do it to satisfy the dark needs of our Jungian Shadow. Tom Sisson
This is one of the songs I'd sing to my girlfriend. After 18 wonderful years she passed away in April from cancer. I wish I'd had this paino solo to sing along with. It's always been my favorite AIC song..... RIP Cathy❤
That was an incredible arrangement and performance. Drew so much beauty out of an already beautiful song. Someone needs to make sure Jerry Cantrell hears this. It breaks my heart that Layne can't.
I used to love the unplugged version of this song by AIC many years ago. Your beautiful cover captured the dark mood, beauty and melancholy of the original perfectly. Your performance also expressed something uniquely yours. That's a lovely-sounding piano too, and your video was superbly filmed and edited. I subscribed to your channel. Marc Filmer (piano composer)
Alice In Chains is has been my favourite band for basically as long as I've known them. I'm normally reluctant to listen to covers because they rarely work- it's next-to impossible to better the original and it's almost as difficult to successfully make it anew, encompassing the song's original essence in homage, but made through a different perspective. This does that. With all sincerity, thank you.
Could not agree more!!!! I stopped in my tracks when I heard this. She blended all the sounds into an incredible piano rendition and practically captured Layne's voice in it as well. I found my self singing out loud. Emotional. Impactful. Stunning. Blown away. You made my day. I will share this with people far and wide. Glad to have met you through this internet. You are talented and special. Rage on and keep making this world more beautiful with your talent. WOW!!!🔥🎆❤🔥
@@YuliaGarnet ::: Good. The fortunate part is that the words and message were 100% accurate. You're special and never stop making the world better one beautiful musical moment at a time. Wonderful to build something and make life beautiful instead of take and plunder. Cheers!!!
This song brings back so many memories for me. The nostalgia combined with such a beautiful interpretation with piano really hit me in a good way. Thank you for this.
just had to come back, well i actually listen to this a lot, but thought i'd make sure to leave another comment, because this is just that phenomenal!!
I think that Layne would have absolutely loved this. Thank you for covering one of my favorite songs of all time. I couldn’t help but get a little emotional listening to it.
As a classical guitarist to does many instrumental arrangements of popular songs. I can tell you this is one of the most beautiful. I've heard on any instrument. When I watch your video I imagined layne Staley leaning over the piano...smiling with his sunglasses on. Brava
This is phenomenal! I don't know anything about music except what sounds good to me & esp. who touches my soul when I hear them. Layne Staley had this unique ability with his vocals. You have it with the piano ❤️
I was sitting in a meeting at work listening to various covers of one of my all-time favorite songs. As soon as the lyrical part of this song began I immediately had to hit pause because I broke down into tears. It took me all day to listen to this all the way through. Absolutely amazing work!
