Alice in Wonderland has been a favorite of mine since childhood. I knew when I had a girl that would be her birthday theme so I spent lots of time gathering food and décor ideas. Below is a link to the videos I’ve used to inspire my ideas or recreate other’s ideas. Hope this helps if you are planning a AIW themed party!
Tiny “eat me” cakes - this was my favorite part of the movie when I was little. I based her smash cake off a bigger version of this but I used the below video to make tiny versions of them. It worked pretty well but you have to let them dry for a bit before you can handle them. I would suggest leaving them in the fridge. They tend to feel “Sticky” if you let them sit out. I found they were too sweet for me, but they made great recreations of the “eat me” cake from the movie. I added about 5 drops of blue food coloring to achieve the baby blue shade I was wanting. I set them on mini paper doilies that I bought at Wal-mart but you can also buy them here: amzn.to/2RZ8MRQ

“Eat Me” smash cake - I used a 6 x 2 inch round cake pan and followed the instructions that came with it. I used 2 cups of boxed cake batter. Then used store bought icing and used the technique from the mini cakes to pour the blue icing on top once it completely cooled. I mixed up a tiny bit of royal icing to write on the cakes.

Card cake - This one was my idea. After making so many desserts I wanted something easy. I was tired of baking! I used a 9 x 13 cake pan and a box of cake mix. Then I made my buttercream icing recipe and used a star tip to pipe it. I pipe everything with a star tip. I’m not good at smoothing out icing to perfection and I find pipping it is soooo easy and super forgiving. Plus it gives it a nice textured look.
Mad Hatter Cupcakes - This recipe/DIY I took from Koalipops on RU-vid. He’s amazing and simplifies baking creations into something anyone can make. I would recommend making these the day of the party or the night before - only because the oreo’s at the bottom get a bit soft…not that anyone cares because it’s an oreo - but if you want them crunchy I would do them closer to the time you need them. This is a perfect example. Here is a link to his video: • Mad Hatter Cupcakes | ...
Card Suit Sugar Cookies - This was another idea I had. I already had the cookie cutters and I’m famous for my sugar cookie recipe (I will link below my video recipe and royal icing video.) I made half red and half black and set some out on the table. I also bagged some up as party favors for the guests to take home.

Décor - I found a picture on Pinterest that inspired me to do the blue, white, and red colors. I used a baby blue table cloth and cut a black and white checkered table cloth in half and used it as a runner down the middle of the table. I bought red glitter paper at JoAnn’s and cut them into heart shapes using the cookie cutter as a guide and placed the hearts around the table. The AIW characters I actually bought from a yard sale. They came from Disney and were never used - still had tags on them! I also used my chalkboard which I made several years ago to make into a card to put her birthday stats on.
I think I covered everything. If you have any questions feel free to leave me a comment!
