"If we had a daughter" Daemon touching Nyra's stomach and talking to Vinseya was a really sad part for me. I love how you made it with such little detail but very informative.
I believe this comment was based around the characters in the show. (I could be wrong) In no way do I support or will I ever support discrimination due to gender and I do not support wrong doings ( in real life) to other people. I believe in equal rights and only love to others. Thank you for your comment.
They both suffered but I really hated alicent for being so horrible to Rhaenyra for sleeping with Criston she didn’t lie but she still treated her like she did and she wasn’t good with her children marrying them to each other and hiding their horrible nature and this came from her trauma but I really was rooting for her to be different 😢 for both of them to be different.
Unfortunately trauma can turn people into everything they despise. I believe Alicent had pure intensions, but her father polluted her mind to the point of madness.
Alicent had every right to be mad at Rhaenyra after she misled her. Rhaenyra knows, just like Alicent knows, that there are already dozens of lords who want her disowned as heir now that there is a legitimate male heir. We know that she knows this is true, because she says so to Viserys himself when she tells him to fire Otto. And yet, at a time when her position is so unstable, she threatens the realm's acceptance of her even further by allowing others to question her virtue. And Alicent is right to be mad about that. Rhaenyra is putting her in a very difficult place. No matter how much Alicent wants Rhaenyra to be the Queen (which we see her repeatedly advocate for), Alicent will always have an obligation to protect her children first. And if the Lords of Westeros are so primed against her, then they will likely prop up Aegon regardless of what Alicent does, and then Rhaenyra will be forced to execute Aegon to secure her claim. This isn't just poison from Otto, this what has happened repeatedly in English and Scottish history. Hell it's what happened in one of the wars the source material for this show was based on. In lying to Alicent about how cautious Rhaenyra is being about her place in a patriarchal society, she is communicating to Alicent that she will continue to be caviler about her position at court and this will endanger the lives of Alicent's children. (You can say that it is stupid to care about being a virgin-- and you'd be right if we were in the present, but not in a medieval fantasy setting. The lords of Westeros do care about gender, and they do care about women being "pure.") What's worse is that after Alicent defends Rhaenyra to the King and stands up to her dad for the first time ever to fight for Rhaenyra, Rhaenyra gets her dad fired. Also it is not clear what happened in the show, but in the books Viserys is the one who makes Aegon marry Helaena. Also Alicent doesn't make them hide their trauma?
"alicent wasn't good with her children" no shit she was a child herself raising children (products and constant reminder of her sexual abuse) with zero support system and viserys being a deadbeat dad and not even seeing them as his kids even though he was the one forced her into having them FOR HIM
@@hh-ug4ki she married them to each other? I know she was a child and I have such sympathy to them but she couldn’t have been a little better even though she got mad at rhaenyra for a rumour about her saying “you targarians and your queer traditions” and then married her children 🤦♀️
Funny how all the team green people hate on Rhaenyra, and team black hate on Alicent. They're victims of a patriarchal society that oppresses BOTH of them. It's not about choosing between them. This show is about how women always have to behave perfectly, and are always shamed for things that nobody would care about if a man did them
I'm sorry, did we watch the same show? Alicent was fucking horrible to Rhaenyra. Nothing Rhaenyra has ever done comes even close to the atrocities Alicent and her family did to her.
@@bondpenelopebond I'm sorry raping Cristian Cole isn't much. Switch the genders. Cole is the crown prince and Rhaenyra is like a Brienne type sworn shield for him. He comes in all drunk and shit coming onto her. She tries repeatedly to leave, he playfully blocks her escape until she finally gives in and has sex with him. A lot of people would call that rape. Or at least sexual coercion. Which is not too far off from rape. Close enough. Rhaenerya was drunk and horny so I didn't realise what she was doing so I don't think she's evil but makes sense why alicent should be paranoid. That's why I hate when people say Criston Cole was just a sad and rejected guy
Not all team green hate on Rhaenrya and not all team black hate alicent. Though I agree with your point everyone is only blaming Rhaenerya and Alicent when the real villains are Viserys and Otto
I do sympathize with Allicent with her difficult relationship with her sons and sometimes daughter. The patriarchy... She never stood a chance. Her father fucked it up. Just like the Lannister men did for Cercei. Both women were trying to survive the best they know how.
Hightowers were really religius, that can be the faith thing, that's why targariens had to have only one wife per time. Plus she was lied to, not defending her, but Rhaey was only person who Alicent trully like and she lied to her, about intercours. I think it was the breaking point when she just break from her father presuing her, to chosse Agon as king. It's not Rhaenery fault, but I think it was more then jealousy that came from being free to chose sexual partner
I never understood why people kept ignoring what rhaenyra did but kept hating alicent because she married Vesris Alicent was pushed into a marriage whit someone older than her dad by her father . While rhaenyra lied and seduced s guard =Alicent is evil Alicent defended her friend against her dad which got him punished away. Then she found out she father was right about rhaenyra =Alicent is evil Alicent defended rhaenyra against the council =Alicent is evil Alicent told care of her husband while he was sick rhaenyra abandoned her father while he was sick =Alicent is evil Please u guys should grow up
It’s a targ tradition for Rhaenyra to live at Dragon Stone cus she’s an heir. It’d be weird for her to stay in KL. I don’t believe anyone ever thinks Alicent is the villain. She and Nyra were victims of patriarchal westeros. The real evils (at least in the book) are Ser Crispin, or Aemond.
@@aishahamma334 It was either the eye incident or the second marriage that caused Viserys to tell Rhaenyra not to visit KL for political reasons. The show completely skipped that for dramatic effect. It’s not like Alicent and Otto would send regular health updates either. Also, Dragonstone isn’t simply a house. It’s a land with vassals. She didn’t sit around doing nothing. Her dad should have made her hand, but he chose to separate the green and the black and caused the dance. She didn’t abandon her dad. It was a political strategy gone wrong, which is tragic.
God Jesus Christ suffered way more than anyone on earth. A God who got rejected by His own children that He created. Tortured and beaten and spited on even though He was God . He saved many and healed many and for that He was crucified the most painfullest way than anyone just to save sinners like us. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:16-18 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-6 for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13 Oh trust me there is no one who is loving and enduring as Our FATHER IN HEAVEN. CAN YOU FORGIVE SOME WHO TORTURED YOU ? NO KINGS NOR QUEENS NOR ORDINARY HUMANS CAN FORGIVE LIKE GOD DID. A GOD WHO HAS PUTS HIS OWN LIFE ON A CROSS FOR US SINNER CAN NOT BE EVEN COMPARED TO ANY SUFFERING IN THE WORLD.
You gotta dig deeper buddy. Woman back then we’re treated like possessions instead of actual humans. Men treated them as disposable and their only worth was sex and having baby’s. they were servers in their own way. Yeah they were royal but that doesn’t mean they didn’t suffer. I mean literally look what happened to Rhaenyra‘s mother. She lost her mother to childbirth because her father chose the baby’s life over his wife’s and look how that turned out. They give their lives for greedy unappreciative men and for what?! To get beaten, abused and raped. Sometimes you just have to dig deeper and find the meaning of the lyrics. Everyone can relate to this song in different ways.
Sorry but Rhanyera's lack of sympathy and understanding for Alicent's situation in the beginning caused a lot of these issues. She only ever thinks of herself
@allis5870 I think what hurt Rhaenyra the most was the fact that Alicent hadn't warned her. For all she knew Alicent had been seeing her father immediately after the death of her mother(or even before). I know it was Viserys's command, still wouldn't you at least drop a hint if you were marrying your best friend's(in the show they seemed even more) father? And then once Rhaenyra had forgiven Alicent, the latter felt anger and envy watching the princess live freely. At the end of the day they were just two young girls and the adults in their lives are to blame for what happened later on
