She had injuries between the 06 and 07 seasons… I really wonder if she had stayed injury free, she definitely could have made that amanar a real possibility

This is the way I like to think about it: Fei had a 9 tenth advantage over Alicia. Fei gave up 8 tenths due to the fall, resulting in a net 1-tenth advantage over Alicia. On top of the net 1-tenth advantage, Fei essentially has the advantage of not counting any landing deductions on her second vault, as the landing deduction is already factored into the net 1-tenth advantage. What this means is that Alicia had to be at least 1-tenth cleaner excluding the fall. Both are two of the cleanest vaulters in history, so it was close. Alicia's landings definitely cost her. While my intuition (and many others') tells me that Alicia did better, the CoP of that time tells a different story. FIG seems to agree with my intuition, as they're cracked down on poor technique and low vaults more and more throughout the years (and also decreased the net gain for going for more difficult vaults). Alicia definitely would've beaten Fei in any of the following quadrenniums. The real injustice, if you asked me, is Oksana Chusovitina beating Alicia. Oksana only had a 2 tenth advantage over Alicia and I think Alicia was at least a tenth cleaner on each vault...

@@yooowhatsgood It's speculation, but the facts line up. Alicia was a much older teammate to McKayla & Aly at the 2011 Worlds. Nassar probably didn't go after Alicia bc she was older, and he knew she would fuck him up if he did that to her.

@@auspicious93 I think Anna Li was one of the older girls as well, could’ve been her too. Also I agree, Alicia has always been so outspoken and carefree in her interviews, if Nassar tried to touch her or any girl with parents as their coaches, he would’ve been locked up wayyy sooner

In vault Cheng had a much higher total start value than Alicia, and so the fall only negated some of that. Alicia would have gotten bronze if she could have landed two clean vaults- she didn’t. In beam final Cheng had many checks and balance breaks, but Anna COMPLETELY MISSED AN ENTIRE ELEMENT! She also had several checks herself including the dismount. She also didn’t have quite as much start value as Cheng did. Both results were fair and justified, get over it.

the US lost by 2.4 points. Alicia's falls counted for only 1.6. She is not the reason at all. Falls or not, the US would have gotten silver. And other than the falls, her routines were incredible.

@@doughtyluke Plus if we are not going to count Alicia's falls then we shouldn't count Cheng Fei's fall on beam. And that would even further the distance between those teams. Plus imo it was all Marta's fault for 1) not naming the full team right after the Olympic trials, 2) overworking Chellsie and Sam leading them to injuries after showing their worth time and time again and 3) turning Alicia into a head case by making her compete at the ranch to get her spot at the Olympics after the Olympic trials(even though there was no reason for Marta not to take her - she was a lock for the team bc she was the only one who could medal on vault and also medal on floor plus her experience) and pressuring her too much. Also, it was later revealed that Alicia was dealing with an injury the whole 2008.
