The African savannah is a very unique type of steppe, because the grass there has adapted to grow far taller than most ground cover plants normally do, so there are actually niches for partial ambush/pursuit predators there. I'm glad you finally tackled the inefficiency of the octopod locomotion. I simply cannot see these creatures moving with any speed or coordination having so many legs occupying the same stride area. It would make more sense in a high gravity environment to spread the weight, but I would think More of these limbs would become vestigial or conjoined. I notice none of the fauna has developed a simple clasping ability with a single limb - no "fingers" or way to grasp without pinning the object to the body... The idea that every part must be vital or it begins to atrophy seems to be lacking in the progressions. Every iteration is additive... Still, amazing work! I look forward to the development! :)

I'd quite like to see this intersect with Biblaridion's other speciality in conlanging. Perhaps one of these creatures could evolve the ability to communicate with language, allowing for something few other conlangers have done - a language based on completely alien physiology. None of the familiar consonants and vowels, because those all come from the shape of the human mouth. Instead we get an inventory of sounds made with something else entirely - maybe a pair of limbs could become specialised for the function. Or perhaps their language consists primarily of visual signals that could later form the basis of a writing system. Or what if the writing system came first? The possibilities are endless!
@aleksandrakrolak
@aleksandrakrolak 4 года назад

He already pretty much said that these animals all have brains when he discussed cephalization in the earliest videos (like 2 and/or 3). I would say that obviosly any such animal has a brain, but that's not really obvious, it just needs to have the thinking abilities we use brains for; a more distributed nervous system might work and the actual communication methods could obviously be different. (Btw, notice how he barely spared a thought for biochemistry and microanatomy. It's probably a combination of not being so much in his skill set and not being as widely of interest or relevant to the macroscale.)

I was thinking. With the constantly depleting atmospheric H2S, the “plants would be at risk of going extinct even with proliferating sulfur reduction bacteria. Then I thought about how cows produce copious amounts of methane as waste byproducts almost to the point of contributing to climate change when factory farmed (which is so sad btw). What if, to deal with the excess waste sulfur produced by the plants, the herbivores of this world evolved a symbiotic relationship with the sulfur reducing bacteria similar to how we have our own gut biome. The excess H2S would be released through flatulence or some other way. I know it’s childish to talk about but farts evolved for a reason. Also, this may be how they consume such acidic water that would cover the planet.

Damn! These 27+ minutes are 27+ minutes to short. Great video and presentation. It's noticeable how much work and logical thought went into this. Keep up the good work. Can't wait for the next video.
