Same. My childhood fears pretty much stem from the Xenomorph. I bought the game on steam and have yet to actually dive in. Primarily because " I don't need that shit in my life". Lol. I still watch the videos though.
There is never a moment it lets up. There's never a moment where you feel like you've finally got a good grasp of things. Hide, go slowly, never run. Pray it doesn't decide to check under the desk.
I like how the alien in this game doesn't have a simple pattern when its wandering around. It unpredictably moves anywhere. That's really what made this game tricky.
@John S That is really cool. I kind of did a mix of everything, hiding, sneaking away, flamethrower usage, so I didnt notice much changes to how it hunts me.
One of the worst things it learns is about the noise maker as if you use it too much it will begin to learn to follow where it was thrown from and just become more alert when it hears it instead of going to where it lands
I wish it casted shadows! Doesn’t seem like a big deal but if it fills the corridor wall before you actually see it, I think it would be scarier and pretty cool
@@observantmagic4156 you literally have a sensor that tells you where it is behind walls, please enlighten me how it would be that much easier? Besides ill take a few percentage points of ease for a much more immersive and scary experience
When you're hiding under a desk never bring out the flamethrower unless you're going to use it. It's flame will always give you away and when the Alien attacks you won't have a chance to fire it.
Tom Paul You can’t kill the alien at all. Just stun him. And the flamethrower just scares him away. But if you don’t use enough flame on him on nightmare difficultly, then it won’t scare him off. He’ll just grab you and kill you. But on easy difficulties, he’ll grab you then let go and run away. Also... the alien adapts to your tactics, so (I’ve never seen this personally) but apparently he will get so used to the flamethrower, and won’t be afraid of it anymore. That he’ll eventually just kill you. So use it wisely.
@@Jdabomb93 its not that he get used to it, but it will be harder to scare it away. it will force u to spend flame ammo by staying back but not going into vents. flame is still the most effective, but it should be last resort weapon.
amazo88 Really? I heard he eventually gets smarter and learns your tactics. So if you keep throwing noisemakers and using your flamethrower on em, he won’t be detoured anymore. But apparently I’m wrong so... I’ll take your word for it.
Not only this game is frickin scary, it's also incredibly optimized. I was able to play this with max graphics on my dusty laptop. Even minecraft is lagging on it.
Minecraft is programmed on a base level to where you can only run it using one processing core, thats why even with the beefiest pc you can never have servers with more than a few dozen people on per world at a time.
@@the20thDoctor I'm using a 2017 laptop and it never lost frames. Cutscenes are choppy though, but that's poor optimization it would do it on any setup I think.
honestly the story was kind of bland, nothing to really write home about. It's the gameplay itself, and how they incorporate the alien into it that's really impressive.
@@Jamplays592 They really managed to capture the aesthetics of the original movie. But the alien AI alone would justify the game, it's a superb suspense builder.
imagine seeing this game at 03.00 a.m. alone in home, saturday night, headphones max vol, and a drunken fool appears to scratch ur back I almost kill my sister
I am playing through isolation for the 3rd time and just did this area the other day, it seems to NEVER leave you alone in that area at all and when you FINALLY make it to the end you can't get out and then have to go back to the airlock. I bought it on release day and played it through then. Then couple years later played through it again. Now I am playing through it again and its still SCARY AF. I understand some that cant play it though, there are times where I just have to take a few days off of it cause my nerves are totally shot. Creative assembly built a masterpiece with this.
Remember when ign dissed this game for hard mode being "too hard" and the a.i being to smart? Lol I guess the bots from cod who just stare at you b4 they shoot on the hardest setting are what the world needs smh. This game is awesome and is what a HORROR game should be like. It's not simple and repetitive like every other horror survivor
This game is free on epic games right now so i played it for a good 2 hour straight and died 10+. This is the only horror game that the AI continuously trolled me so fucking hard like random checking under the desk and popping behind me. Scary asf.
This game is the best simulator of a closet I have ever seen. I spent hours in the closets, looking through the small gratings and checking that motion tracker. That brings the term close quarter to a new level. So if you like to stay in hiding while shitting your pants and in-game progress is not that important to you ... Isolation is your game !
One of the most freaky and stressful experiences I had with the alien was when it saw me, I pulled out the flame thrower as he started walking toward me. It just stopped, knowing what it was... and just stood there staring at me waiting for me to make my move. That dead stare it gave off letting me know it will kill me as soon as I turned my back. Awesome game for sure.
@@ryanfarrar9185 Electomagnetic impulse. Similar to a shark. Even though they don't have eyes, they are still able to project an image to their brain. Alien Covenant shows it from a green fisheye lense on how they see. It's more similar to radar than actual sight, but they seem to be aware of human actions like pressing buttons or in Aliens when the Queen and worker drones stopped pursuing when Ridley threatened an egg with the flamethrower.
Pausing at the end like that reminds me of my playthrough XD that shit was so intense I had to stop and calm down lots of times. When I got to the reactor core for the first time and the elevator doors open up I took one look and just turned my game off for a few hours lol
So my kid set the game up for me while I was out of the room and I was the first person in the house to play through this. Everyone was intrigued watching. This game frustrated the everliving s*** out of me. I would get stuck at some parts for weeks. I was so confused as to how this game was so ridiculously hard. Then we beat the game, and I got an achievement for fighting through it on nightmare... I looked at my kid, and I was like oh what happened to putting it on normal buddy, to his reply, "I wanted to see how mad you would get". Fair enough, and it was quite mad. There were times I almost broke the TV cuz I couldn't get out of a stupid room because of him.
This is the only game i have played that actually scared the living shjt out of me. I have never played a game that caused such fear and tension since. Credit to the development team for this game.
Why do people want to play this? I mean I like watching the clips, but that's the most amount of stress I can deal with. I'd brick myself if I played it.
I had a close call once thanks to a bug I survived ! I was crawling near an "underground vent" when I heard the Alien hiss then scream and charge at me. I quickly went in even if it was technically too late and then created a chaos I was too far away from the opening so it couldn't do the cut scene and grab me but I was too close to allow the "going in the vent" animation. It decided to join me in the vent by "escaping" through the roof and spawning with me underground and since the door wasnt closed yet I got out ! I could now detect it trying to find me but I was already out haha. Also another cool bug allowed me to see an albinos (texture was completly off so I turned on my flashlight and I have a clip of a white alien killing me noice)
Hmm i see everybody have mouse sensibility turned up high. In Alien isolation i did opposite, turned down so it was a bit too slow so it would be about like i do. Made game much more atmospheric and it was my first game that i played on inverted Y direction, now i play all games like this. If somebody wondering why do people play with inverted mouse, open game with first person view, turn down sensitivity a bit so it won't be fast but still comfortable and test it by moving camera up and down and moving your head accordinly. You will find out that you feel yourself more like a character in the game then with normal mouse.
I literally couldnt finish this game because it was too scary. Its one thing to have scripted jump scares, but a learning AI constantly hunting you? fuck no. i noped out right after med labs.....
Idk if you know this but the Xenomorph's skull has an actual human skull with eye sockets, so it can see. Also, I know people are mixed on it, but in Alien: Covenant we see the point of view of the Xenomorph, and it's regular human vision but with a filter and slightly blurry because of the dome that covers it.
@@Veachie Repeat after me: Alien Covenant never happened. And no, xenomorphs can't see. Their skull is just a subproduct of spawning from a human host. They use a lot of other senses to localize their prey, mostly pheromones. That's why it's literally impossible to hide from a Xenomorph under the table, and also why they don't attack androids, since they don't emit pheromones.
@@Veachie They can sense her actions. But not see per light spectrum as we do. Xenomorphs have a LOT of senses, they can see you but not the way you and I do. It's on the damn wiki, go read it.
Big fan of the alien universe.. played all the games seen all the movies etc etc.. do I need to buy this game and play it? As a big fan I want to play it but I’m just more into shooters.. idk but I love aliens lol
