I recently began editing new A:I gameplay into a movie type depiction of the classic game. This involves a massive amount of cutting and assembly of at least eight-and-a-half hours of material, down to approximately two-and-a-half hours of finished product.
Goals involve streamlining the storyline, establishing a clear plotline, eliminating side-stories and tasks/puzzles that are not necessary, and keeping a steady pace, while also producing the film as more art than first person-shooter.
ALIEN: ISOLATION is in fact not a first person-shooter. It is a first-person survival/horror challenge.
This early version is uploaded in 720p. Eventually the full-length version will be uploaded with at least 1080p.
I changed the opening credits, in order to differentiate between game videos and this as a movie.
A friendly suggestion was made regarding my earlier A:I videos, that I install an anti-aliasing patch to eliminate any rough video edges present in my previous efforts. I'll definitely look into it.
I also am interested in adding third-person depictions of the main character, AMANDA RIPLEY into the sequences if possible. A:I was originally intended to be a third person game but was switched to first person for a more immersive experience. It worked.
Apparently, there are mods that accomplish this, but as to the quality or practicality, the jury is still out.
At present, I am only able to show AMANDA in cut-scenes or as a ghost. She also serves triple-duty, main character, cameraperson, and camera.
This has required the use of imaginative means of editing and video/audio clip inserts. I don't mind because it stretches my creativity muscles and raises the quality a bit.
I used a cropping tool primarily to eliminate the Bandicam logo at the top of the screen and make the video more cinematic. This produces a ratio of approximately 11:5. Cropping any further would chop off heads.
I will look into a reasonable means to eliminate those God-forsaken text prompts that appear throughout the game.
The sequences involving AXEL, need a bit of work, but considering I had weighed the option of not including AXEL at all, he shouldn't complain.
The editing tool I use is Lightworks ver. 2022.2
