The thing is it shouldn’t exist though. It tries to explain the history of the alien which we never needed. What made the first movie so scary is that you don’t know anything. The alien is truly alien. Like an unstoppable force of nature. But Prometheus tries to explain everything away.

I agree. I think its only downfall is trying to be shoehorned into the Alien-verse, and some dumb scenes. Otherwise, it's a pretty cool film that absolutely needs to exist.

I really liked Prometheus and have watched it multiple times. Was never a fan of covenant - thought it was bang average. Not awful, but not great either… I wish they did make a third one to wrap it all up tho :/

Everyone in those movies was criminally stupid in their decision making. The Covenant crew landed on a strange planet they knew nothing about and just went outside with no protection touching everything. 🙄

I think John remembers Aliens way more than he does the original Alien because even though the story and themes were kinda different, the tone of Prometheus and Covenant is way closer to the original Alien than it is to Aliens

Prometheus is closer to Blade Runner with it's sci-fi existentialist pondering and Covenant is closer to Alien Resurrection with it's forgettable characters and bland high body count slasher movie formula plot.

@@robertjackson9005 yes, that's awesome Robert. I have also finished the game myself 3 times since 2020... and finished much of the DLC. One of my favorite games ever. I remember watching the Aliens film for the first time and being scared to death when I was a teenager (hadn't seen the original yet at the time)... this just brings back some of those feels. This may be the first Aliens film I see in theaters!

Because it's bad. I've seen the different cuts. Used to think it was a great movie. Seen it enough to realize it isn't. Its poorly written, the Xenomorph suit is only shown from the waste up due to the fact that they didn't have a finished suit (which is soooo distracting due to how the camera has to compose around it), the Xenomorph early CGI is bad and overused, the characters are never developed even remotely, it completely kills the momentum from aliens by just writing out two major characters, the ending makes no sense, and it wastes its unique settling by basically doing nothing with it. What it has in atmosphere and sets cannot make up for how poorly done it all is. It's the product of a miserable production and it shows. You'll find that's most peoples' experience as well so hopefully that clears it up

Just a thought, what if one of the main characters is newt? Going by Fede's plans for Ruomulus following the deleted scene in aliens with the kids growing up on LV246. Newt was the only one that survived.

Does this trailer tease anything shockingly original, thought-provoking or new to the franchise? No. Does this trailer tease an absolutely horrifying and grotesque, edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting, chill-inducing, violent horror thrill ride? Oh yes. Nothing like seeing a genuinely scary slasher in the theatres. Hope it's good!

I was thinking about that term that makes Alien so terrifying, and he said it. It's cosmic horror. It's that element of the unknown, and the claustrophobia in the emptiness of outerspace.

I love the concept of the Alien, and the original movie remains a firm favourite of mine. Unfortunately you can only reuse the format a limited number of times before it becomes tired. Especially if it has another Ripley clone front and center. This trailer looks sick, but nevertheless seems a retread of what we've seen before many times. My wish is that there is something original with the story and/or characters, but I don't see it in this particular teaser.

"The Alien should never be explained!" YES!!! This is the main reason why Prometheus and the Sequels never vibed with me. By trying to explain the origins of the xenormorph, they ruined the mystique of the creature for me. This movie seems to be going back to its roots, which is great!!!

Yes, In the process of explaining everything, they've taken away the mystery of the unknown. And I really hate how dumb the scientists were in Prometheus, imagine taking off their masks the moment they found air in an alien world. And that's only one of many..

An interview with Fede dropped at the same time as the trailer, he said that there is technology from both eras Alien and Aliens. If i remember right i think he said one full ship from each era

As much as everyone loves to complain about nostalgia, I'm surprised this trailer isn't getting flak for its nostalgia and just feeling like the original again. I'm not saying that film will be terrible or that we shouldn't have faith in the director, but I wish people would be more consistent in their criticism about nostalgia and whatnot.

This doesn't feel like nostalgia to me mostly because the alien franchise has looked very different over the years this trailer shows me that they're bringing alien back to where it was where it started so less nostalgia more return to form we haven't seen a horror film out of that franchise probably since the original alien 3 kind of had a little bit but not to the degree of the original had and that is where this creature works best it is one of if not the best monster ever put to film it's not tugging a mine nostalgia seeing this it showing me that this dude knows what alien is and how to use it.

Honestly yeah. Aliens is so great because it really did something different then the first. Then 3 and even 4, for all their problems tried to do something different (to debatable success). And then in the one way I feel they should replicate the original, setting everypersons up as your characters, they go the modern day route of generic hot twenty somethings.

I feel like R. Scott had a lineal story in mind. Heard this new film takes place between Alien and Aliens. First alien film implies they new about the xenomorph, and want to bring it to earth/home. Second film Aliens we discover the xenomorph for reals. What’s is the Romulus story and does it fit in??

That's the problem with most of these sequels/reboots/spin-offs that are made from previoys IP, that the most they can aspire to is achieving is looking and feeling the exact same way as the originals. Nothing new to offer.

It's going to take a modern day Leonardo DaVinci to make another nostalgia fest fresh and interesting. Ridley Scott said himself at one point the xenomorph is "done, cooked." I thought he was on the right track with Prometheus, but here we are.

Loved Alien, and Aliens and I still enjoyed Prometheus and was interested in seeing where it was going. Alien Covenant was such a dissapointment for me though, that I kind of said I was done with the franchise. I'm that Hawkeye meme at this point "Don't give me hope" 😂. I wrote off the Predator franchise as well though after The Predator and then we got Prey which was great so I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong. I'm just not confident atm.
