As a software developer, I totally get his description of the abstract geometry. I also totally love his metaphor of the planets and the differences of the life forms. I feel like I understand from both sides. A really brilliant talk!!! Sharing!
Thank you for sharing the idea that people will believe a polar bear can smell a seal at 20 miles (even though they cannot conceptualize what that is like) but will not believe a fellow human, with the same sensory equipment, can see a richness in the patterns in the world that others cannot (and have abilities other humans do not). For the record, I do whole heartedly believe that humans have differing abilities, even when given identical sensory equipment.
I am a machinist, precision and process are what I'm tasked with on a daily basis. I wish I had perspectives like this at a younger age. My life would have been better.
I also like the idea of an interpreter - there are many times when it feels like people are talking in code and I need to look at friends around me and find out what they actually meant, because they didn’t say that. I wonder how much of the world around me I am missing on a daily based, but I’m also learning there’s so much that others around me don’t get to see/ notice/ experience at the speed I do.. I often sense things sooner, but trying to get that across seems worthless because they can’t see or believe it until they get to it... which sometimes takes a split second longer. Great talk, thank you!
Yeah, this just makes sense doesn't it. You kind of forget that this is an important part of diversity. There are skills and people we're missing out on just because we don't speak their "language." I mean, what's the difference between that, and having issues with someone who's from another country, and as a result express themselves in more or less direct ways (e.g. american communication style versus "classic" german communication style).
@@deekshithp2934 I see no reason to either believe or disbelieve The Man from taured, or any of the countless others that I've heard. Fact is, like the countless others, We'll probably never know. I do however, find it easier to believe than China's figures on Coronavirus cases.
I understand what he's saying. But he also comes across as having a big ego and that everything he does is the right way. He wants others to see that maybe the fault lies with them, but he doesn't see the need for himself to do this. To me it just sounds like two people with big egos disagreeing completely because they each see their view as the right view.
i laughed a bit at thinking knowing where to stand on train or knowing the lights around ur house is unique or a superpower. even writing software for that matter.
