Alien vs. Predator uses a control setup with an eight-directional joystick and three buttons: one to attack, one to jump, and one to shoot. The default cabinet for the game allows as many as three players to play simultaneously, although some smaller cabinets only accommodate two players. Four characters are available for the players' use: two cyborg soldiers, Major Dutch Schaefer and Lieutenant Linn Kurosawa; and two Predators, a Hunter and a Warrior. Three of the four characters are equipped with a melee weapon: a katana for Linn, a bladed naginata staff for the Hunter, and an extendable-retractable spear/staff for the Warrior. Dutch has no such weapon, but can hit enemies with his cybernetic arm; in addition, he can hold and swing any melee weapon dropped by another character, instead of throwing it as the other playable characters do. The game is a very up-to-date version of Final Fight with wonderful graphics. The game was based on an early draft of a script for a film adaptation of the Alien vs. Predator comic book series and was intended to have been a tie-in to the movie. Although the draft was later rejected in favor of a different script, Capcom had already completed the game intending for the film to be released around the time of the game's completion.

@Shadowhawk28 Perhaps they feel it would be out of place with the atmosphere of the AVP comics/movies to have a human running around beating zenomorphs to death with her bare hands. I guess they could feature a heavily nerfed version of her though but even then, maybe there's a concern about having to pay money to Capcom to use the character?

Platinum The Masculinity I agree and I saw The Predator for 2018 it wasn’t bad. Also based on all the movies we what’s the most important aspect of the aliens movies is this game forgetting? Answer is the xenomorphs blood is highly acidic stronger than sulphuric acid. Lt. Lin Kaurasawua would need a new sword after every slice into one of them unless she was given a sword that is corrosion resistant like some of the predators weapons seem to be. Too bad it took an AVP movie to show us how durable the aliens skull can be and turned into a shield and it’s tail into a spear.
I'd have to agree on the 3rd player detail, because it was more like Kurosawa's player was more focused on taking enemies down than keeping health up, almost as if the items, except the one they started with, was just in their way.
Although the notion of Predators swallowing their pride to take up diplomacy with their prey is ridiculously far-fetched, pretty sure even they can get over themselves against that kind of number of Xenomorphs.
This was the BEST beat em up. At least in it's time. You could argue Tower of Doom if that was your niche, but in terms of objective appeal, this game was king of the genre for years. I found it astonishing cabinets weren't more common...
I would love to see this game get a modern re-release. Doesn't need any work beyond giving it online play. Capcom Beat-em-up's in the 90's were unmatched.
Both Predators have a jumping downward attacks that are extremely powerful, and it was a shame it wasn't even used once in the entire game. The Lieutenant also has a jumping downward sword attack that could be spammed, a mid-air grab-and-slam attack plus a really cool double-fist energy strike. Again, sadly not used. But the Major's sliding punch and power bomb were fortunately used plenty!
I believe you're the first one to mention the jumping downward attack. I actually did try out all the moves before playing this game, but I must have forgotten that one. I will be checking the comments again if I end up playing this game sometime, although it still wouldn't necessarily turn out much better.

I would think it's possible to do, but I don't know how you would map a button to the service button on Xbox. I guess it would be in the regular MAME input menu, assuming you can bring that up.

The rom you have should already have a 3 player mode. You just need to go into the service menu by pressing F2, then go to configuration>system and change it to 3 players.
great gameplay but disappointed on how you use or not use the combos P.Warrior has the greatest combo in the game especially in a mob. You start with a slide kick, then flying kick, then down attack in mid air then end up with a bang using the gun. You'll get least damaged by the enemy that way. The most disappointing was with Lt. Kurosawa. She is the fastest in the game but has the shortest reach. Hence, her moves are more aerial and combos are meant to easily connect with each other. She is meant to jump around and not to stay in one place. This is the reason why she keeps on dying in this play.... she stays on one place hoping enemies come to her.
Yes, I used MAME for this. You can set it to 3 players by following these instructions. When the game is running, press F2 to get into the service menu and then navigate to configuration>system>player mode and change it to 3 players. From there, you just need to exit, then press player 1+2 start to save and then exit into the game.

+CutiePie RU-vidr! Technically, these roms are illegal to download, so I'd rather not be posting any links. Since you downloaded every version of the game, I am sure that I wouldn't be able to give you to a link to a rom you don't already have. You should be able to play 3 player in both Final Burn Alpha as well as regular MAME. As I had mentioned, to get 3 player, you need to go into the test menu. To get there, you press the F2 key (works on both MAME and FBA). In the test menu, you go to configuration and then system. From there, you change "player mode" from 2 player to 3. Then you need to properly exit the test menu which should put you into the game with 3 players.
The Majors gun looks cool shame it shoots like shit, he's like Max from streets of Rage 2, end of stage 1 boss predator checking for a pulse Wouldn't see this today because of license issues with whoever owns the movie rights for Predator and Aliens
I don't understand why youtubers play without scanlines effect in the graphics. This is not how the game looked back then. This looks low res (pixel so called "art") without the crt scanlines effect.

How do you do this uppercut move you are referring to? I checked some guides and I was able to find an uppercut move for P. Hunter, but not one for P. Warrior.
The only choice I'm aware of is MAME. If that didn't previously work, you might not have set up the rom directory correctly. MAMEUI might be easier to use than regular MAME.
@@arronmunroe i have that but the game doesn't play. its having an error. im not used to emulating, im a newbie. So if there is an error i dont know how to troubleshoot.
I would need information on what your error was to suggest anything. If you're using a recent version of MAME you may also need to get qsound.zip for this game to work.
@@rhovenom04 I would rather not do any calls, but I can tell you what is likely wrong. MAME is telling you that it doesn't see the game files, which means you either didn't get the game, which in this case is called avsp.zip, or your game is in a folder that MAME isn't checking. As I mentioned, you may also need qsound.zip. I would suggest checking the RU-vid video called How to set-up MAME and to find/download a working ROMset and BIOS. I don't want to link directly to that video, but it's very easy to find. That hopefully would show you what to do.
