We're Chris W. Smith and Jack De Sena (aka Chris & Jack). We've been friends for years and love making high-quality, high-concept sketch comedy. Chris was a Blue Man in Blue Man Group. Jack voiced Sokka in Avatar the Last Airbender. In 2016 we united to create this channel, confusingly titled “Chris & Jack”, which has served as a shared platform to write, produce, direct, edit, and star in our own stuff. Hi Chris and Jack, I don't normally comment on youtube videos but I really felt I had to here. I'm a big fan of everything you've done so far, but I've gotta say, this video is a big disappointment. I thought you guys were better than this, but sadly, just another pair of youtubers who completely lost sight of what they used to do. In the video, they say this is the only copy of the Golden record. This is in fact not true, there were two records, one for each of the two voyager space craft. The lack of realism really took me out of the sketch, and honestly, I don't know if I'll ever be able to enjoy one of your videos ever again because of it. These skits just won't be believable any more. I wish you had done a better job with your research, because you've ruined my Christmas, and frankly, my year.

I think this idea of 2 really dumb aliens responding to our one message after all the years is even more funny when you know the prop that supposed to be a capsule with a message inside is an unsolved mirror Rubik's cube, as if they just didn't know how to solve it so they just went "eh we can send a message through this thing".

@@001100AAAEA Its a rubiks cube that has misaligned faces and no colors so when you scramble it it messes up the shape of the cube not the colors. So to solve it you make it look like a cube again.

Well imagine an alien asked how the internet or your cellphone works… You don’t know… you know that it does and how to use it but we couldn’t actually teach them how to develop a smartphone with WiFi. I love the idea of meeting an alien that’s just an average citizen.. because of course there would be!

Those ones didn't even understand the math equations, and although they could use teleportation technology they showed no real understanding as to how it worked, the same relationship most humans have with our own technology like with the device you are using. So it goes that the smarter our tools become, the dumber we are allowed to be.

While I am sure the entire scientific community would feel a mixture of cockblocking/amusement if this actually happened, they also wouldn't right it off as a total loss. Every single frame of that video would be dissected in half a million ways to figure out anything they could about alien technology and that alone would be a win.

The aliens seem a bit silly, but not meeting with them is a terrible idea, just think of what you can learn by asking them to share other alien tech or visit, sure the aliens themselves are not exactly what you'd want from first contact, but they clearly have advanced tech and access to information humans don't about the universe, that has to be worth something.

Yeah, the mirror blocks is one of my favourite twisty puzzles, cos, on the one hand, it's very easy (cos you solve it the same as a normal rubik's cube or 3x3x3 speedcube, which is very simple to do) and on the other hand, it's very hard (because every side is the same colour, so you cant easily recognise which pieces are which and so it takes a good while to solve, it'd be much easier if it had 6 different colours like normal rubik's cubes). It's more a recognition problem than a solving problem I got one of the Moyu mirror blocks recently, the one with the florian cuts. It moves SO well. They also make a mirror blocks where all the small pieces are the same size, the medium pieces all the same size, the big pieces all the same size, so that every piece has 6 different sides they can be part of and the cube still count as solved, making it much easier to solve, unlike the normal mirror blocks which has every single piece be unique in size and shape so that each piece only has one spot they can possibly be in.

this was very nice. thank you. i have as a sketch suggestion: make a sketch about jack being sokka from beloved series avatar the last bender not the other avatar. the sketch is just you guys discussing making a sketch out of it as it's the big unspoken thing about jack (or is it?), but there's just no way to incorporate it organically. i know it won't get made i just like to imagine.

Not warmonger space-farers, or flesh-eating xenos. Just dorks. Best possible outcome. The chances of the record dropping at their equivilant to Albert Einstein's doorstep would've been astronomically low to begin with. Although, the fact that they broke the record and said that "your secret's safe with us" has me really concerned. It kinda reminds me of the short story written by u/bencbartlett called "Radio Silence". It just ends with the "alien response" being "BE QUIET OR THEY WILL HEAR YOU".

Love Chris & Jack. I was really hoping for a twist at the end where Chris & Jack would get a message at the end from there bosses that they had finished dominating/wiping out another planet and that they needed to go clean up the space junk/debris that the war caused (outside of the message transmission obviously). So that their species is just this war driven / domination type, and they are just two random nice guys.
