Instead of the chance disk landing on the console, it should have been stopped in midiar, then covered by the fist of a UNSS "Blackbird" stealth unit decloaking. The soldier addressed them saying "You really don't want to start a war with us" as he places the disk down, blue side up, then recloaked.

Another option would be for the humans to chime in on the laser comms and saying "We know you are considering war and that would be a bad choice." I know the writer set up laser comms as uninterceptible but they can be intercepted if you read the reflections off the destination.

@@ianbelletti6241 If you shine laser into a tube lined with light absorbing structures and paint (not even vantablack, but ink-soaked foam is enough) with the detector and the far end of it, there will be no reflections. But any medium - like gas - would make laser easily readable.

There's an HFY that i read that i really want you guys to take inspiration for a story. It's about how humans are able to generate heat for themselves? Eukaryotic cells are able to glow in the dark, so perhaps in a world that's in an ice age with a cold-blooded civilization humans would be a walking light bulb. They would be able to make a room warmer by just existing and producing carbon dioxide.

Technically our solar system has 2 planets within the habitable zone, that is if that's what they were talking about. Venus is within the zone. We don't know why Venus suffered a runaway greenhouse effect. Venus clouds are made up of the oceans that once covered the land. What others see of our solar system depends on how far away they are. for example if a craft was travelling around and they are 65 million light years away and they are watching they will see a 6-mile-wide astroid hitting the Earth they would see the giant flash and then the clouds of ash that covered the planet. If they are 4.6 billion light years away they will see nothing the solar system hasn't formed yet.

Those "authorities" should not be in command of anything. I can understand the difficulty of an unknown decision without any information, but the humans already accepted a ceasefire and give them as much time as needed to take a decision: collect informations to take an informed decision, ask for undeniable garantees, ask for a delegation to be shown how and why they can trust the human federation.

As for the ship disappearing, I'm reminded of one of the Star Trek movies. A bird of prey goes into cloak and disappears. Lt. Ohura say scan for an ion trail.......that thing has to have a tail pipe....lolol

I like it. I wouldn't have tried to assimilate a peaceful ship that claimed to be advanced and not attempting to flee when I was without anything but theory regarding my own relative complexity and without knowledge of their source world and it's distance from the encounter. Unfortunately, being a Borg like assilating species, there would be no choice but to fight and die since the very existence of ftl humans on a galactic scale would hamper any assimilation of protectorate species. That or the Borg species seeking recapitulation would have a high council that would sacrifice the supreme leader and glean anything they could peacefully from the humans for thousands of years before possibly exceeding human intellect and force capacity.

The complete disarmament request is silly. They had already proven themselves incapable of harming the human ship. Demanding the supreme leader be turned over is also silly because they could just hand over any random alien and pretend it was their leader.

Either way red or blue the armada would never be the same. If they fought, they would lose all their warships via destruction and if they accepted the terms they would only lose their weapons for a time. Either way the outcome was the same, they were stopped.

The descripted method of FTL is a warp bubble, not hyperspace. And warp, while faster then light does not vanish instantly, but simply moves fast. The aliens' sensors should be able to pick up the movement.

Arguably a warp bubble would remove one from the ability to detect or see it. As light and EMF would be distorted around it. Basically created a lens effect around it.

The problem with detecting a warp bubble moving would be that it is faster than light, so it would seem to vanish from the sensors.

Seeing as they estimate FTL to be impossible it's reasonable to assume their sensor ability would also be limited by the speed of light. So, unless the FTL ship was moving directly perpendicular to them, seeing it in any form would be impossible.

The stories are nice, the narration outstanding -- but please stop using animated background pictures moving back and forth. If you have to, make it a slow pan. But reading the subtitles along the story is nigh impossible when everything spins.

Humanity Fuck Yeah. It's a sub-genre of sci fi that exalts humanity instead of denigrating humanity. Although what makes humanity good varies from story to story. Sometimes its's technology, sometimes it's warfighting ability, sometimes it's simple morals. And a badly written HFY story tends to slide into Humanity, What the Fuck? Which is basically when the HFY author goes so overboard with "human superiority" that they intentionally or unintentionally have humanity commit some kind of unwarranted atrocity.

Great narrator. But very poor story. Not recommended. Clearly AI generated, and i have found that AIs don't understand the concept of time and how it works in the real world. Story is scientifically and astronomically impossible. These are slower than light ark ships, meaning that they have left their old civilization behind, generations ago and yet they act like they do this type of thing every week. When they find the humans, they spend weeks studying them, to somehow learn their language, workout even interacting with them, but then they make a decision to go ahead and annihilate the ship that they have just spent weeks learning to communicate with, simply because they think the humans are weaker, even though the humans don't even have weapons on their ship and have not been aggressive (What were the humans doing during this time?). And in so many other ways it is inconsistent and just idiotic. The aliens talk about logic, yet at the end they decide to flip a coin to make the ultimate decision. Surely proper study and analysis would have shown a better than 50/50 percentage, yet even then flipping a coin to determine the future of your race is not logical or appropriate. It is a stupid story.
