Many thanks for all three playthroughs Bairnt! They were so informative and entertaining; your enthusiasm for both the movie and the game is infectious. My favorite part of your videos is when your voice goes up several octaves when something awful happens.... there is also a great drinking game in there: all the times you say "awesome" and "terrible"! I'm going to play the game with a friend the first time this weekend and I hope we have half the fun that you obviously had!!!
Your going to have a blast!!! I might have to try that drinking game I do say that a lot. Make use you read the comments the community helps with some of the rules I misplayed. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Awesome job! ...even though you didn't survive this one. :( The amount of aliens that keep coming is just brutal, absolutely relentless! The game really does a good job conveying a sense of panic and urgency that you get from the film. Been enjoying these play-throughs so much that I ordered this and both expansions. Really looking forward to playing. I especially like the option to play solo and still have an edge of your seat experience.
Wow that was an intense run ! Watched all your Aliens playthroughs and they were soooo helpful and thrilling to watch ! Your sense of humour and relentless passion is contagious. Thank you A LOT for sharing ! Gonna get the expansions too. I did several runs through all 3 main missions and every single one ended up differently, from quite easy to complete nightmare like this one haha :) Thank you again !
Walked through the game with starting from the first video for this game. Thanks for teaching me how to play. Had this in my collection from day one of release.
New Aliens player reporting in. Bairnt, just watched all your Aliens series, man they were fantastic! Entertaining, informative and absolute comedy gold. Love your stuff!
Hey man, I have thoroughly enjoyed this series it has assisted me greatly in running my own campaign. Your humor and enthusiasm make the videos a great watch. Are you going to play through the expansions? It would be good to see you run through them with your usual clarity and wit!
Thank you. This is a blast. I’d like to run this again but I need to get the expansions. It will be really cool!!! Thanks for the great complement and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
Thanks for the great play throughs! You've convinced me to order the game, and I think the expansions will also be well worth it. I can see why others would avoid this game, but as fan of the movie I am really looking forward to playing this solo.
13:10 - Hick could've take a Pulse Rifle from the crate behind, being ready to give it to Ripley later. 15:25 - Ripley passive allows her to re-roll Newt's defensive roll, remember 6:28 19:55 - You should not lose this barricade because it doesn't make sense. The rulebook is a mess full of irregularities and thought-holes. It needed a massive F.A.Q. they added to clear all the non-sense. In case of Mission 3 where barricades are very specific I might just ignore the barricade rule on the motion tracker card. 23:45 - Hero Ripley (and Newt) have 5 speed (movement) instead of 4. Yes you realized for later turns, but not here. 58:46 (and 1:00:35) - Nope. The door is closed. 1:03:12 - hahaha 8 minus 1 🤣 Minus 1 is for his defense not minus 1 on the Alien roll. Hicks definitely died right there hit by 10 (8+2). But of course you later remember to use his Body Armor so he survived (for a while haha). Anyway, all those 10s on Alien attacks were absolutely bruuuutal. However the overall tactical approach was far from optimal and dooming the mission. I think the Sentry Guns should be used to basically cut the spawns in half. Meaning staying in front of spawns 3 and 4 (facing the wall i.e. not facing the main corridor). The Marines should push the main corridor and stand their ground (not wasting time with empty turns waiting the Sentry Guns to run out of ammo). Also manipulating the Spawns (flares, motion tracker, etc.) to have more on 3 and 4 (covered by Sentry Guns). And run for the exit. Also it's insanity to have 4 Spawns on 2 Heroes (2 spawns each), but 3 Spawns on 3 Heroes (1 Spawn each) and again 4 Spawn on 4 Heroes. It's such a bad rule. That's why I play with 3 Heroes - making my life easier without breaking the rules (which are not well-thought-out in the first place). I played my copy finally (had it for weeks but didn't play it). I've played only Missions 1 and 2 so far. I am interested in Bug Hunt missions (btw I have the Bug Hunt game itself too haha). Please show few Bug Hunt missions for Another Glorious Day In The Corp. It would be awesome.
You sir are amazing!! I wish you were sitting next to me while I am making the playthrough. If you don’t mind I’d like to pin your comment for people. Thank you for all this info. Yes my tactics were probably the worst ever. I agree that a 2 player game has to be the hardest In my opinion. What do you think of the bug hunt game I was planing on getting it. I hope to get the expansions soon and then I would be more than happy to do a bug hunt. Thanks for everything 😃😃👍
Bairnt, actually you are really amazing. I do such comments on other channels too and most of them are being salty and offended by me showing them their mistakes. I got so many passive aggressive answers, that I thought about stop commenting. On the contrary your reaction is showing awesome positivity and is a testament of what a great person you are. I just did Mission 3 putting the Sentry Guns the way I was commenting earlier. The first several spawns I got nothing on them hahaha. But the marines took the corridor and defended themselves. At the end when the spawns in front the Sentry Guns started coming they got mowed. I still applied the rule of directly destroying the Blips (and not reveal them), despite the fact there were in line of sight of the Marines. After all Sentry Guns lose 50 bullets per attack so I think several xenomorphs should not be a problem for such a salvo hehe. I had another problem tho - Bishop couldn't call the Dropship until Turn 7 (SEVEN - the dice roll failed on 4, 5 and 6). So I was staying in this corridor for a while defending before running out. By the way I choose Hudson as a Hero for his 7 Tech and got him staying at the computer blocking doors all the time. As for the "Aliens: Bug Hunt" game - it's very different. I like it a lot tho. Probably even more. But it's different. It's faster (for setup and for playing). Very dynamic. Light and rapid. It's still very thematic (another movie-quotes galore there too). Every time I sit to play it I do 2 or 3 games, while AGDITC makes me tired and I stop when I finish a mission. Anyway both games are a must for Aliens fans. You will like "Aliens: Bug Hunt" a lot too - I can't wait for your playthroughs (i watched everything in youtube and played almost 20 runs myself).
Nice. Your strategy was way better than mine. Thanks for great recap and I am going to order hug hunt. As a fan I have to have all the Aliens games. I do feel that one mission a night is a good amount of time. Thanks 😃😃👍
Hi Bairnt, thank you so much for these playthroughs. It helped me a lot for things I should and shouldn't do. But one question though, in your intro, you said aliens activate one at a time. But on your very first alien activation for the face huggers, you moved them both before doing their attack, contradicting what you had just said. Are the face huggers activation different in that way or was it just a goof ? Or you just did it that way because it didn't matter since both of them would've been in front of both characters ? :)
You are correct I did move them both. I would like to think I did it cus it didn’t matter but yes I goofed that one. As you mentioned it wasn’t going to matter but for rules sake that move didn’t change anything. Thanks for the great comment sorry for the confusion and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
@@OneStopCoopShop No worries. This is why we all watch your playthroughs. It's an awesome demonstration and we learn a lot from the goofs. I also especially love your enthusiasm. It shows your passion and is fun to watch. Good job ! :)
Stupid question: could Newt make the aliens chase her (do a loop with her 2x5 speed + passive to move a character 2spaces towards her), "free up" Hicks with her 7 defense and then through barricades get a movement advantage? As a last ditch effort?
I don’t see why you couldn’t. Only thing to watch out for is she would have to stop if she ever come in contact with an alien, but there is nothing stoping you. Interesting strategy. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
That would have been a good idea. There are many things I could have done differently that would most likely been better than what I did I that mission. I learned a lot playing. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching 😃😃👍
I kind of wish they made a thematic version rules where you have limited equipment...I ran through the game once and the starting first few turns makes or breaks the game...I kept getting lucky on tracker cards in the first few, once you can start double action moving you outrun the aliens...easy
Very true when you get tot the sprint for the exit point it is really easy to outrun them. I equipped them with sort of the stuff they had from the movie but sometimes you need the fire power to get out.
You'll need to ask Bairnt on his channel, Meet Me at the Table, since he's not posting videos here anymore. I haven't played either game sufficiently to tell you which is better :) - Mike
If I am playing a full campaign of the first three missions and let's say 10 cards have been exhausted at the end of Newt does that mean I start the Escape Mission with those 10 cards still in the Exhaust pile or do i shuffle them back into the Endurance deck and start fresh? If we are sort of starting fresh can I then change the weapons and equipment for my Marines at the start of a new mission?
I would love to answer you question. So the exhaust de o does get shuffled in. Any hazard cards in the discard get shuffled back in and half of what is left of the discard. Also you are right you get to re equip you squad from any cards that are not in the discard. Hope you make it of LV-426!! Thanks for watching 😃😃👍
I don’t think I did unless im using both actions as move actions which you can do. Move is an action and you can do 2 of them if you want but you don’t get to do anything else hope that makes sense. 😃😃👍
@@OneStopCoopShop Oh ok. It’s odd that you can double your love limit by using 2 move actions but I guess it simulates your character running if there are no other actions that need to take place. Thanks for the reply! 👍🏻
While a bunch of confusion durring the mass attack on turn 5 and rules issues. It does look like "The Awful Green Things from Outer Space" is a better game about fighting aliens . Obviously there should be a few more Alien minature game pieces for sure(8?), (plastic injection single color molded figures being SO expensive, I don't see how "Helen Of Troy Games" Co. ever made it 30-40 years, LOL) and not everyone has a years earlier version of this game, with standup Alien counters.. Note: this the first time I have seen this game.
And if the closest sentry failed its roll to successfully shoot the alien then as long as the other sentry can "see" it, that sentry would make a attempt to shoot it.
