Still in my opinion the best trailer for a movie ever made. Without giving away the plot or dialogue the trailer neatly sells the visuals and tension of the film. Giving you the film's tone without sacrificing plot or idalogue. Modern trailer makers should watch and learn.
@@Beanie-Sandals Correct, this is the second best teaser trailer ever made. Here's number one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TbcmLPXuQzo.html
@@tbrasc0 it did terrify me but at the same it put me off. The imagery was too dark & looked like a cheap b movie. When I finally watched it as a 12 year old kid, I was absolutely blown away by the quality of filmmaking. An absolute classic.
JAMES HORNER, H.R. GIGER, STAN WINSTON, ADRIAN BIDDLE, BILL PAXTON & AL MATTHEWS, Thank you all so much for the creative contributions to a TIMELESS CLASSIC that'll remain TERRIFYING for many years to come. Gone but not Dared FORGOTTEN 🙏🕊
Same here. I remember the trailer for "Aliens" focused more on it being a dark scary sci fi horror with action instead of more just action sci fi like they handled it later. It looked creepy in the theater and like something that would be too scary to watch, I was only 7 or 8 when I saw the trailer.
@@Myrdoc People were pretty much blown away by it. No one was expecting a sequel to Alien, of all movies. It had been seven years since the first film came out. Sure, there were sequels to several other movies, but Alien didn't seem like the kind of movie you could make a sequel to, and when the trailer revealed the military vs. aliens aspect to it, everyone was like, "Oh, this looks awesome!" It still didn't do as well as Top Gun that year, though.
Why? Film trailers of yesteryear were just as spoiler heavy if not moreso. The only reason you think older trailers don't give away the whole movie is that you're only watching the teasers. Trust me, you watch the theatrical trailer of Aliens and you'll see what I mean.
I guess at this point we don't know she is a queen. I would have like the motion tracker sound slowly building up as the trailer went on.......would have been a nice touch.
This was also before the age of You Tube and the internet remember. There was no going back and playing the trailer again. You got this momentary glimpse of 'what the hell was that?!' and the mini adrenaline rush of wonder. For all it's pluses, the Internet has taken that away, sadly. It's a different time.
Is my favorite ALL TIME movie. July of 86, I was 8 years old, pact movie theater, late New York City night, the movie never let down, this is when movies gave you nightmares.
First and only trailer of Aliens I saw in the 80’s. I think it was at the beginning of another VHS home movie I was watching, can’t remember which film. I was desperate to see this film and the trailer, especially the use of that music, with no dialogue, nailed it.
Even today, almost 40 years later, this trailer gives me goosebumps. I wish I could go back in time, and watch it for the first time again. The audience reaction was epic!
This is actually a pretty worthy successor to the iconic Alien trailer, and it perfectly sells the "actionised, but still scary" tone of the film: Yes. Ellen Ripley is returning to Acheron with a crew of Space Marines. But if you thought that they're gonna kill every last Alien with ease, and that this is just a Rambo knockoff with Xenomorphs, you're sorely mistaken.
I saw this before watching Gremlins in a theater in Stockholm 1985, I do recall liking the movie but only remembering the trailer, where i was sitting locally etc but only during this teaser. Aliens is my favorite movie of all time and will always be. Looking back must have been late 85-> mid 86. 3y later (updated). Now i looked it up Gremlins had its premiere in Sverige 14 dec 1984, i saw it early 1985 and the Aliens teaser was available in early 1985. Its wrong im one year off. Aliens did not start shooting until september 85. It cant have been Gremlins. This is pissin me off. Memories, totally unreliable. Can it have been Top Gun. Im pretty sure thats it. I like(love) Top Gun i saw it at the movies, but dont remember it because of the Aliens Trailer. Top Gun premiered 16 of may 86 in Sweden so i remember seeing it, and THIS teaser at the movies so it must have been. Aliens 19860926 premiere Draken Stockholm. Im not convinced but that is the state of play right of now. Logic before feelings. Btw nothing compares to this Teaser at the time it came out. Maybe DH3 international trailer can compete, Spiderman one Teaser, T2 had a few, Alien, or Man of Steel (Kal-El voice over).
God bless you Carrie Henn you did an excellent job as Newt the sole survivor of LV-426 in Aliens (1986) directed by James Cameron and Carrie Henn will be forever rememberd as the greatest and the legendary child actress in Aliens (1986) as well:).
This is pretty reminiscent of the Alien Teaser. Both outstanding trailers in their own right. This one holds a special place though. Absolutely love the other worldly noises throughout. Btw...pray for me...i have covid😂😂😂
As good as the teaser for Alien imo. I can't imagine how hyped people were seeing this in theatres, some of the shots and effects were ground-breaking for the time. James Cameron delivered.
One of the best sci-fi horrors ever made... more an action film.. but Cameron got it spot on. Glad he did it as well coz Ridley Scott has been churning out utter fucking shit for years... 2 great films he made.. Alien and Bladerunner... everything after for me is wank.. maybe Gladiator but even that missed a trick
57 years after she destroyed her ship in a attempt to kill an alien creature, Ellen Ripley is rescued from marine corps and now she must return with them to the planet where her crew found the alien, which is now a terraforming colony, to find out what happened after contact is lost... With no idea of the hell that awaits them. James Cameron's second masterpiece after "The Terminator" 1984.
You're watching from a retrospective, 2024 time though. Remember - this was also before the age of You Tube and the internet. There was no going back and playing the trailer again. You got this momentary glimpse of 'what the hell was that?!' and the mini adrenaline rush of wonder. For all it's pluses, the Internet has taken that away, sadly. It's a different time.

Hailing Ripley. Hare Krishna of John Smith sometimes if you want to dare. Only if it’s absolutely necessary please and in an environment suitable for inter-religious dialogue.
