I just bought one the R2 version that thing is a beast, can't believe that little thing can play the latest games and I can do my 3d renderings and photoshop work etc with no problems it is worth the buy you have a little laptop that is pretty much a PC
If you are going to order this thing, try and get a better CPU. Especially with the eGPU the processor is a bit of a bottleneck on these things, so be aware of that issue. Otherwise a great machine!
Makes a HUGE difference in system performance. At least in my computer I noticed an improvement between the 6700 and the 6820 without knowing my CPU was upgraded. Small price to pay now for having a system last you a lot longer.
how do you think the new laptops that will be coming out compare to this 13, because i want the 13, i just don't know if i should get this one or the new one in November....
+AJ Belanger The Dell XPS will be better for traveling because of the size and weight. But the Alienware will playback some GPU enhanced effects better and render a bit faster
Is the amplifier worth it if I have i5 4260 and 860M? I just wonder if my processor will bottle neck my graphics. My AW currently is below fallout 4 minimum so maybe a GTX970 is worth it?
+JustLuke It will certainly give you a massive boost. Only you will know if its worth spending the money. I dont expect you CPU will make that much difference. Tally Ho
What an great gaming laptop Was kind of hoping the graphics amplifier would be usb c which might have opened it up to other laptops The keyboard looks fantastic
+Western Gents United And there I was thinking I was the only RU-vidr in Bangkok! Just subbed to him mate BTW just got a Ricoh Theta S 360 camera and it is awesome! Produces really easy to produce 360 degree videos to RU-vid
+sid rathor Bought an AW15 with GTX970M a year ago and I love this notebook. The AW13 with 5500U handles the GA (GTX 980) better then previous AW13 with 4210U (+20% to +40%), but it's still >25% slower than the AW15 (4710HQ or Skylake) and >50% slower than a full Desktop (3770K). Depending on the game. Buying a $500 graphics card and a $250 (properitary) graphics amplifier is a waste if you just get the performance of an Desktop with an GTX960 or AW15 with GTX970M. www.notebookcheck.net/Alienware-13-GTX-960M-Notebook-Review.142854.0.html
+sid rathor I have Alienware 13 + Graphics Amplifier using Titan x. When u on ultra 4k. U get a Clean 50-80 fps in some places. Where their is alot of grass u will drop 15 frames easily. When I run on 1080p I get a steady Minimum 60-240 fps. Im using a 4k TV with 120/240 refresh rates. Definately recommend the titan x to any seroius gamer that wants to secure their pc gaming future.
+Western Gents United i really like it....dont change the intro...thats what makes you so different among the others.....that will gonna be your weapon.....hahaha...
