Thanks for the help as this resolved my issues of overheating. Kinda sucks to have to spend another $150+ on cooling fans however so worth it just for the quietness. Also didnt catch you were using 4 fans, as I ordered 3 then I went opps need a 4th. All turned out great in the end thanks again.

Hello, nice video. As I perform ESD testing as part of my Job as an EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) Engineer, I can tell you grounding yourself to a case that is not grounded won't do much. You need a path for your body's static charge to discharge. You can keep the power plug in, but you might accidentally hit the power button. So instead, you can ground yourself to a electrical outlet ground. This is how EMC dissipative mats on work benches in electronics labs. The connector on the mat has a place for your strap to plug into. And that connector is grounded. Your strap will have about 1M Ohm or so of resistance to discharge you body at a slow, but continuous rate so as not to make any sudden discharges. By attaching the strap to an ungrounded chassis, you will build up a charge on it that will be equal to what is on your body. It won't have a path to discharge. So, then you might be able to discharge to a component or a spark could jump form the chassis to a component if the gap is small enough. Just wanted to make you aware.

Just wanted to leave a comment to say that this video was very helpful when I was trying to resolve a top fan error on my son’s R10. I wound up getting the same fans & thermal paste that you used & the replacement job was a breeze thanks to your instructions. The only minor neg was you fast forwarded past plugging the new fans into the mobo. I used the Y splitter to plug both top fans into the TOP 4-pin connector but was wondering if it would have also worked if I plugged one fan into TOP & the other into CPU. Anyway, very informative video. Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! Did you check out the full walkthrough video as well? Around the 32:00 mark I went through the fan connections a bit slower. The top fans (if you're referring to the new radiator fans), should be driven by the software (either Alienware or other software) to cool the CPU directly through the pump/radiator combination. If your motherboard has a CPU fan connection, it should be utilized for the radiator fans, and not plugged into the Top fan connection. I utilized the Top fan connection to chain the front fans together, to operate as one. You would not want to separately connect the two radiator fans into different fan connections on the board, as they would then be controlled differently from each other, when they should be controlled the same. Hope this helps!

@@clickssticksgaming Ohhh, I missed the full walkthrough vid. Like I mentioned earlier I wound up chaining the radiator fans to the TOP fan connection cause that's what was being used before. So far it seems to be running ok but maybe I'll open it up again sometime and switch it over to the CPU connection instead. We still have only one front fan (connected to the FRONT connector on the mobo) cause we do have a regular 3.5" HD taking up the spot that the 2nd fan usually goes into. I tried moving the HD to one of the bottom tray positions but couldn't get it to fit properly.

It's liquid cool but the temp is insanely high!! I replaced my top and front with noctua, changed my CPU fan cooler to Kraken 120, and the temp is constantly in between 40 to 50 degrees Celsius. Maybe the liquid cool isn't functioning? Cause that temp looks like only the fans are working... I mean, I overclocked my pc to 3800 MHZ along with higher voltage, and replaced my ryzen 7 3700x to ryzen 9 3900x. And this is the temp.

If you're seeing 40 to 50C temperatures on the CPU in an Alienware PC like this when it's working hard, you are doing amazingly well and should have nothing to worry about. For comparison, my recently built PC with 9 fans and lots of open space in the case will see temperatures in the low 50C range when working hard.

I don't know that I'd be able to offer much help, as I hadn't upgraded the cpu in that PC. Are the 3600x and 5900x's the same socket size?
