First glossy gaming monitor Ive come across in maybe a decade. Not sure why the industry seems to hate them but it sure made the choice really easy for me. Looks beautiful, cant wait to get mine.
Dell almost seems to remain the king of gloss, if any can be crowned. Even back when me and my buddies had our 1680x1050 tn panels, my buddy had Dell panels that even if the same tech, were glossy by comparison; those monitors always stood out
@@Dankduster mm, for sure - i recall my friends old dell laptop with a glossy tn panel form way back - cant say how it would compare to modern displays but it blew me away at the time.
just got this monitor. incredible! The curve is So Slight that even if you don't like curved monitors, you will like this. I got mine for $989. PSA: Micro (not mini) LED is dead. All micro led screen makers said, it's too expensive, so they put it on hold for several years. Don't look for consumer lever micro led for a decade. please post a BEST settings for this monitor please
Used this video to repack my monitor and return it haha.... I regretted the purchase. The monitor wasn't bad or anything, I just realized how much I didn't need an OLED monitor that was so expensive. I was constantly worried about burn-in which was just more added stress, and it was missing features like KVM and USB-C display capabilities that my cheaper monitor had.
I remain content with my G3223Q featuring IPS technology. As someone who works from home and mainly use my monitor for office works, transitioning to OLED seems like a step back, especially considering the present state of OLED technology
I am contemplating on G322Q vs AW3225QF right now. My usage patterns: 70% productivity (excel, office, web browsing) & 30% ps5 gaming. Please tell me which one suits me better.
@@zaryl2k The Alienware lineup always more premium than the standard G-series. However, if your primary tasks involve working with Excel and web browsing, I personally believe that switching to an OLED display might not be the best decision. Here's why: OLED panels excel at presenting deep blacks, but in reality, very few scenes are completely dark-whether in movies, gaming, or real life. Therefore, the benefit of having infinite black levels on a monitor is questionable. On the positive side, OLED panels reintroduce a glossy coating, which has become rare on most other displays (except for Apple displays, it seems). The decision is yours to make: Do you prefer paying extra for the potential benefit of infinite black levels, even with the risk of burn-in, or sticking with a traditional IPS panel that performs well across most tasks but has a matte coating?
@@nguyenvietanh9397 yes, i guess i will stick to G3222Q then. But 32” is kinda big, is there a similar monitor but at 27”? I read about Gigabyte M28U but the HDR colors are a bit off compared to G3222Q.
@@zaryl2k Bro don't look back. Unless you're into competitive FPS gaming, a 32" monitor is ideal for literally everything else. Considering the latest high-end monitor releases, you'll notice that most are 32". The experience of a 32" monitor is unparalleled, so don't consider downgrading to 27 inches.
@@nguyenvietanh9397 Can you explain why do you like glossy coating? there must be a reason why glossy monitor is so rare on monitor for so many years. There has to be some drawback.
The only 4K 240hz QD-OLED monitor you can readily buy in the US so it wins by the default. ASUS and MSI are not available for purchase. Maybe they can properly restock in a year or two, in the mean time, Dell/Alienware sales are steadily climbing up.
I wanted to pull the trigger on this, but the lack of sound options kills me, $1200 for an HDMI with eArc, thats not cool. Should have put a headphone jack to hook up speakers.
Love my AW QF. For bright room use on windows 10 I set the monitor to Custom Color HDR, switch HDR to on in windows display settings, then crank the slider to 100 in the windows custom color settings. This gets the monitor as bright as possible with the least amount of ABL. Worth noting it will get quite warm under these settings.
Worth noting that Game 1 max brightness in SDR seems slightly brighter than what I mentioned above. Used Creator mode so much I did not realize how much darker it was with the 2.2 gamma curve. Colors looking very natural on this setting
Though this 32", I still wish it was UW like myAW3423DWF. That would actually get me to sell my AW3423DWF. Though, I really don't wanna push 4k pixels even though I'm about to grab the 4080S. I would still get Fidelity and Speed not one over the other without optimized settings of course. Great video. Can't wait for the review. What's the keyboard in the video link? I want it.
Thank you for the information. In your demo you set it to 10 bits of color. I have an option for 12. I honestly don't understand all the tech aspects. Should I set to 12?
Hey. I have the aw3225qf but there is something that drives me crazy... There is flickering with G-Sync turned on. It's mainly in situations with gray on the screen like in dark situations which are not 100% black or a little bit lighter. It does happen in loadingscreens too. Is that a common issue for that monitor? Is it a common issue for OLED monitors? I tried it without G-Sync and everything worked perfectly fine. But without G-Sync the games doesn't feel as smooth as with it and have screen-tearing. Could anyone tell me if that is normal and if other OLED monitors (like the Asus pg32ucdm) doesn't have this issue? It's really really sad that this has VRR flickering because if it wouldn't have it, it would be a perfect monitor. I'm thinking about returning it because that isn't acceptable for 1000 bucks to be honest. (Latest Firmware is installed) Would be really nice if anyone can help!
ABL in the Alienwares is a dealbreaker to me. Unfortunately that leaves me with the MSI alternatives, even though they have mediocre quality control and that terrifies me with replacement horrors
There is essentially no ABL on this monitor, I have one, it basically has uniform brightness forced on, Rtings showed it not being an issue either. If you’re talking about in HDR then that applies to all the new QD-OLEDs, not just this one.
@@Alfie0001 Nope. Use Creator-sRGB for all SDR content and then when you want to consume HDR content enable HDR in Windows and it’ll automatically switch to the expanded color gamut.
Completely agree with you! It’s an awesome luxury to have but more people need to know that it WILL burn in eventually. However the prices on them are coming down fast so the value is going up pretty dang quick.
@@s123pongebobok then on your 5th year, burn in will happen. Don’t get too confident. OLED will still be plagued from burn in, whether you are in 1st year, 3rd year, or nth year of ownership.
For me personally text on my PC is fine but I'm not finicky like most people are today. Just like people try to say it's not bright enough but for me it's perfect. If my TV or monitor is super bright it gives me really bad headaches. My room is decently lit and I don't notice the blacks not being really black. Colors look amazing, really smooth when gaming l, and the response is great. I did have an issue with mine coming scratched but the second one came fine. Wasn't too keen on a curved monitor but it's very slight and I'm starting to like it. Anime looks great on it too colors really pop. I hesitated for a few weeks on buying this but glad I finally decided to get it.
I got my face real close to the screen and can barely tell if I squint. I personally have not noticed on the 4k just doing normal reading. Just watched a movie with black and white credits and didn't notice once, come to think of it.
My first one was scratched but the second one only had light scuff marks that came off with distilled water n microfiber cloth. Not sure why they didn't put a peel off on it would of avoided issues like that
The privilege you guys have is unfair for me because I have to import this monitor to put my hands on it and This monitor probably will cost around 2800$ after importing it to my country 😭.
I just bought the AW2724DM, its not OLED but i like it so far and the design. Just kinda confused about the AMD Freesync, as on AMD software its says Adaptive Sync or something, does that mean it's Freesync?
@@Raynoxfps really? Why wouldn't it just say Freesync? I ask this cause I used to game on a Samsung 4k TV and in the AMD software under display it says Freesync. But on this monitor under display it says Adaptive Sync. I'm new to this monitor thing I usually game on TV's
I just returned mine was giving me pretty bad eye strain, plus the ABL was kicking in way too much in the peak 1000 mode in bright games kinda ruins the experience.
I had the same Problem with Peak 1000 mode with the AW3423DW. Very strange that a lot of reviews don't mention this. Apart from very dark horror games the HDR400 mode ist way better in my opinion - but the highlights are blown out. I was not convinced regarding the HDR Mode of the Alienware. I had the hope that it is better now, but it seems to be the same.
@@dennisrunge3919 I’ve learned over the years that you really have to sit down and try it yourself to know, a lot of techtubers don’t actually play games or use the monitor as a daily driver, when type-c tech does the full review and has used it for a while I’m sure he will find out.
I also noticed the HDR1000 on the 27 inch variant. ABL on these seems to be better than on the LG panel which was extremely intense. I’ll definitely make sure to go over this in the full review. Thanks for commenting!
