Second favorite in this video is fixable. I deleted the rubber bushing and used a new spring from Lowes. The spring is as long as the bolt and very strong. The center bolt allows you to delete that 30% deadzone in the pull by tightening it. It is perfect now for the money. I also added washers on both sides of the center rod at the back plate maybe overkill but only a few cents.
Mini ineffective samurai sword😂😂, I agree the one with the stiff spring looks like the best my friend has one and I love it he put one of his clutch springs on it and it’s heavier but feels so good, great vid as always keep it up😃.
05:52 I realize it's not the most amazing piece of equipment, but for less than $50 AUD that thing is pretty good. Had it a few weeks now, and I'm impressed! I've seen things that are 5x the price and are way worse quality.
I agree, these prices are good and with minimal work these can be turned into pretty damn decent units. As you said they are definitely worth the asking price.
have 3rd one maybe i was lucky but no issues with usb cable or dead zone magnets where fixed better and little bit different electronics. had same play but I used washers. for price cant beat.
As with all these cheaper handbrakes and shifters a few small additions of washers and such fixes them right up. Thank you for reporting your personal experience. :)
Yep I have the over priced Fanatec handbrake. I was about to buy another one but BeamNG fixed the Fanatec handbrake not working issue. So now I don’t need to until the potentiometer gives out 😤🙄. Cool video mate. Dougal Tha Tech God 🤪😂 Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
Thanks for watching till the end! ;) There is a hall effect sensor mod for the Fanatec Handbrake that I ended up buying and using because my potentiometer ended up reading all over the place at one point. It's like 30-40 bucks so it might be worth it to upgrade rather than buy a new handbrake when it comes time if you like the feel of it. If you would like I can try to find the link on eBay.

I need to invest in a good handbrake sometime in the nearish future. I don't think any of these would do it for me, but I like and appreciate the quick run down on these.

AliExpress is from what I have been told is the Chinese cheaper version of the better quality products they sell to the Chinese consumer. Definately a good price but hit or miss sometimes.
Ya, it can be risky but the components are very simple most of the time so as long as the unit kinda works, you can usually tune it to be better with a couple tweaks.
I just got the crappiest ebrake of all 3 bc I found it really cheap (36 EUR). I was surprised to see that the stick didnt have any play, it didnt touch the usb cable, and the hall sensor was correctly tuned in my version. I guess that there are a lot of different manufacturers buying those cheap hydro ebrakes and doing the conversion with the usb cable and the pcb with different quality standards, I think that I just got very lucky. The only problem I have found in mine is that it goes from 0% to 100% too quickly, like in less than half of the travel, making it more similar to an on-off button.
I tried to calibrate it through the control panel but it did nothing. I also disassembled the magnet and tried moving the sensor around, but still no improvement. I think that the sensor they used is just too sensitive and the read saturates to 100% too quickly@@DouglasThompson
I have both of the first 2 handbrakes. The black one had a lot of play in the handle unlike yours, but it was great I thought. I just got the silver one today after ordering it by mistake because the eBay seller said it was a sequential shifter, but it does feel way better than my original black one, but it squeaks a TON. I've sprayed lithium grease all over it to no avail. But I noticed the one you were using doesn't have a nylon plate covering the whole open section of the handbrake. I'm going to take it off tomorrow so I can better see what is exactly creaking. If I pull it quickly , like I usually will, it's a subtle chirp, but still annoying. Definitely going to be an upgrade instead of a return if I can quiet it down. If anyone has tips on stopping the squeak on his first silver example I would appreciate it. It also takes up a ton less space which is great because I'm using a shifter plate with an extension on a heavily modified ART clone cockpit
Did any of these handbrakes come with a clamp option to mount it to a rig. I don't really have the option of bolting in something on my rig as it's not aluminum profile.

Correct, just wanted to see them in their default setting so people that have no idea about software like that can get an idea of how plug and play each is. ;) I think I might have mentioned you can calibrate then but many will just use it as it comes and be happy. Lol
@@DouglasThompson remember I told you they are crap and hit and miss. If you do get lucky that they actually work, they are allways misaligned, you have to adjust bolts and distance of handle to get rid of empty movement, and then additionally calibrate in software. trash
Lol, one persons trash, is another person's treasure. ;) Honestly, if these weren't being shipped out in the near future, I would do some experiment videos on these units to make them better with simple methods.

I know this might be a lot to ask and you've answered some of my questions before But I was wondering if you could Check and see if the drive hub will let me use A non fanatic Handbreak with the fanatic CSL DD and and an xbox I believe you tried with the pedals and that wont-work but I think you said it only recognizes it as a handbreak so it's possible that maybe I could use a non fantatec handbreak with The drive hub
I believe other handbrakes work such as the Thrustmaster sparco mod, I'm not sure if other will though. The sparco mod doubles as a Sequential as well.
I'm plannig to get the first one from aliexpress, after about a year do you recommend it !? Does it have any annoying sound when uaing, like a whistling sound or something ?!
Correct, I use diview, I wanted to see how these came set up from the factory though. I will also say the 3rd one that went past the sensor, they only way to fix that would be to physically move the magnet because I think I set the preload to max so it would have been even worse if it was factory resistance. Lol
After a year now, is there still one that you can recommend ? And if yes, which one ? I don't wanna buy a fanatec handbrake but also dont want to spend more than 100€ should I get a amazon usb handbrake ?
Not sure if you follow my channel but I didn't do any long term testing. This was part of a giveaway, I bought a combination of handbrake and shifters and sent them all over the world as gifts. I only had them for the review and then I sent them out.
Question, what game are you playing for the demo? I bought the 3rd one recently and no play in it at all, so maybe they've improved it, although I haven't got to use it much yet so can't give any real thoughts on it.
I have the same issue you do with the third handbrake because whenever I pull mine fully back it only reads 90%-92% instead of 100% and when I have it near fully back it reads 100% . Is there any way on how to properly fix this issue because I tried calibrating and that had no effect to it sadly.
@@T240_ use DIview. It's free and should allow you to adjust the calibration further. You should be able to set the 90-92 percent as 100 with no issue.
@@DouglasThompson I also have that software and tried using it but I don’t know how to properly adjust it so if you could maybe leave some instructions or maybe even make a video on how to fix the third handbrake which is the same one I have then maybe the issue will be resolved. I just got mine yesterday and found that issue with it.
Hi, Im just wondering if you can review FRC H shifter. I dont see much reviews on it online but i see good reviews on it on some fb groups and they said its like a real car.. or more likely close to it

That's odd...these handbrakes are kind of luck of the draw in terms of quality control from what I gather...I'm sure they will send you a replacement if you contact them

I have my fanatic shifter mounted to my night stand in the most odd way. I’m using two C clamps from some lamps and the m8 screw clamps into where the lamp sits. I’ll try to find a link to the lamp clamps
I returned it. The sensor was not steady if you know what I mean when I pulled hand brake it bounces around percent not accurate. I got the fanatec hall effect you recommend off ebay it's now back in stock

They don't really have names, they are generic and sold by many different websites/distributors. If you look up usb handbrake or simracing handbrake on aliexpress, eBay, Amazon, etc. You will find similar examples.
