MTR takes a look at Eurovision 2022 Winning Ukranian song, which withdrew! Alina Pash, тіні забутих предків, Tini Zabutykh Predkiv (Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors) will NOT represent Ukraine in Eurovision 2022, for individualistic geo-political reasons. This song hits hard, and it's a disappointment that we won't be seeing this on the Eurovision Stage in 2022.

Remember the ancestors but write your own history That has to be one of THE BEST use of quotes in the HISTORY of modern music. This literally made me feel PROUD of my heritage, my origins, my ancestral blood. It's not JUST ABOUT UKRAINE and their ancestors...it's about us ALL! And I connect to this song. yes, I don't understand ukrainian, I don't speak it...BUT I FREAKING FEEL IT! Goosebumps.

Як ви можете бачити зараз по новинах з України, то для нас таке ставлення до виконавців було не пустим звуком. Це дуже не просте питання. До Аліни Паш у багатьох не було питань, вона українка і зараз з Україною, але у багатьох були питання, тому буде інший. А ось Maruv мовчить, коли її місто, її країну обстрілюють. Тому тоді рішення, я вважаю, було правильним. Хто тоді це не зрозумів, то повинен зрозуміти це сьогодні. На сцені багато хто крутий і говорять всі правильні речі, а як до реального життя...

Alina Pash forged a document, and this is prosecuted in any country. I like her live performance and music, although I have a lot of complaints about the text, as a person who knows history well. Personally, I understand that artists are people who are immersed in creativity and often act recklessly in a public sense. Her visit to the Crimea, through Russia, was stupid. Alina could act honestly and publicly apologize for her act, which she committed at the age of 22, being at that time an aspiring singer. Ukrainian society is quick-witted, it could forgive her act. But instead, she forged the document and continued to lie. By the way, where is Alina Pash at this difficult time for the country?

Вона давно її усвідомила. Категоричність - погана річ. Життя - це шлях, який пройти без помилок неможливо. Головне, що людина зрозуміла і виправилась. А своєю категоричністю Україна часто програє. Це стосується не лише артистів, а загалом інтелігенції, яка покидає країну. І на арену виходить що-небудь, лише тому, що одягло вишиванку. Кожна країна підтримує таланти, а нашій до цього ще далеко. all this is so disappointing, I mean that we missed it for Eurovision. I agree, Kalush did their best, and I'm happy as it turned out. But it would be fare if there was a chance for Eurovision spectators to see this performance live on stage. But who knows, maybe next year in Kiev ... I hope so much and I want it badly

The song did not violate the law of Ukraine, but Alina did. And it is very sad because the punishment basically affected not only her but a lot of Ukrainians who voted this song to be in EUV-22.

I’m not really a person who follows Eurovision, but why did this song (and the others) not represent Ukraine in the end? And for me personally I’d actually kind of want to hear the rant. I get that you’re not really effected by it and might not want to be so political or emotional on here, but in times like these I feel like it would honestly be kind of fitting to say something about the situation even though it will most likely not change anything. But maybe that’s only me overreacting, since I’m somewhat close to the Ukraine) Okay… I somewhat retract my message. I just wrote a long rant and deleted it again since it doesn’t seem fitting. I guess it’s just important to get rid of your emotions in some way, even if no one will hear it. Stay safe everyone

Heya! Thanks for watching :). I was really weighing it up. There’s actually a lot I cut out from this video from the beginning (and of course the rant part) because in hindsight I was way out of my depth making the claims I did. I shot this video before Russian troops went into Kyiv so at the time, being so isolated, I didn’t realise how bad this was going to get. As a result, I did find a lot of what I said somewhat insensitive considering I wasn’t in the thick of it

It’s such a difficult question. Her voice is amazing, no doubt. Considering the political climate and the fact that people are always voting politically in Eurovision, Russia doesn’t stand a chance in the near future 😔 Imo it depends on Diana’s song choice. Diana is so unique that I would also imagine that there would be many critics who don’t quite understand her music. So in summation, it’s a difficult question to answer considering the variables. Could she win? Absolutely, but it’s dependent on song choice, staging, the political climate of Europe, and of course what else is in the competition that year

@@TheMuserResolute Julia was used by kremlin to show Ukraine as a bad guy. But Ukraine was a victim of russian aggression since 2014 (not since 2022 when it became full-scale). So russia choose a candidate that will resonate because of her difference. Unfortunately she was abandoned and forgotten just right at that moment when the goal was reached. There’s even a video somewhere on the internet where she says she feel betrayed. Ukrainian politics is like always defensive. Sometimes it touches our own people who are not honest in those insane days for our nation we have for the last 8 years.

I was weighing it up. I actually shot this video before Russian troops actually got into Kyiv. At the time I didn’t realise how bad this was going to get. I feel like I may have been a little insensitive in my rant, especially in a situation where I wasn’t affected.

Correct. I have gotten this comment a lot and there’s a misunderstanding. Samoylova was affected by the conflict. My video was not in sympathy of Ukrainian performers, but a commentary on those who were unable to perform due to the conflict. Samoylova could not perform in 2017 as the competition was held in ukraine
