Fenceline weed management has long been acknowledged as one of the contributing factors in the spread of herbicide-resistant weeds in broadacre agricultural areas. An over-reliance on traditional knockdown herbicides applied to large weeds has been part of the cause, however alternative mode of action residual herbicides have recently become available. Trials are showing the use of these herbicides with existing knockdowns can strongly control weeds along fencelines, with one herbicide, in particular, providing up to season-length control and good safety alongside growing trees.
