existe una anecdota... Una vez estaba alirio diaz firmando autografos en un centro comercial o algo por el estilo, habia una extensa fila para llegar hasta el y la gente se amontonaba a ver que estaba pasando. En un momento llega un hombre con acento español y un cd a pedirle un autografo y el le pregunta: "A quien lo dedico" el hombre responde de una manera humilde mientras el maestro alirio lo mira perplejo: "A Paco de Lucia"

He plays faster for emphasyze the breaks..end he always start again softly and heartbreaking... and the effect he created is simply fantastic! the ending is the best i ever heard ! Indeed. Recuerdos de la alhambra is somewhat like this one. Campanas del Alba was composed by Eduardo Sainz de la Maza (Burgos 1903-Barcelona 1982) and he dedicated it to his brother Regino. Thanks to technogrow55 for the info.

Alirio Diaz, Je le connais depuis très longtemps Puisqu'on m'avait offert un disque de lui alors que j'avais environ 15 ans et qu'il est tout rayé d'avoir été trop passé. Je ne suis pourtant pas très portée sur la guitare classique espagnole mais ce gars est un orfèvre. Je trouve ses morceaux et son interprêtation vraiment au delà de tout C'est superbe!
Yes, this is Alirio’s style and his interpretation. It’s how he hears it. His interpretations of some of the latin composers are in many respects unique and very passionate. Having said that it’s probably the one of his very finest performances. I think Jim has a point and a fair one.
Un grande, personalmente no me gusta tanto su estilo, pero, lo importante, no es el gusto de este pobre mortal, sino, que su técnica es de la más depurada y el es fiel a su estilo, el cual es propio y único y afín a su carácter... Admirable!!!
en realidad no se si sea cierta pero la anecdota existe y la he escuchado de varias fuentes de tanto de venezolanos como de extranjeros... y lo que si es seguro es que Paco siempre ha admirado mucho a Alirio
@bransonguitar I've seen it, and it's very good indeed. But you can't compare to him just because one song in one video... It might not be his best performance. Alirio was (according to Segovia) the best student he had in the Chigiana music academy by that time. And he later became his assistant and successor. You are a great guitar player but, please, do not try to compare you with Alirio Diaz. Greetings and keep the hard work!
I watched this after watching the same piece played by the Japanese woman Kaori Muraji. She took it quite a bit slower, which I thought suited the piece better - made it more introspective, rather than a blast of technique. I'd love to hear David Russell play this one...

@alepicture dear friend I rest my case, I find this performance of Campanas de l'alba really disappointing and I already explained why. He was 70? What does that mean? I heard Segovia in 1986 in Florence, when he was already in his 90's. And he sounded just fine. Age doesn't count, musicality and good taste do. Call me fucking ignorant again only if you don't have any other point to make.
@bransonguitar you are good my man but in this moment (im not saying you couldn´t later) you are not at the level of Alirio he is really good :) ....you play very feel although :) keep working and practicing and someday you will be better ...depend on how much effort and practice you put to your guitars sesion :)
I agree with you totally!!! A young lady told me long time ago "Slow and Easy wins the race every time". I don't know if that has anything to do with this particular performance... but the way you do what you do, and how you do what you do when you do it, makes all the difference... In the world. Toca como si le persiguieran…Me ha producido ansiedad escucharlo. Es el alba, amanece, nos despertamos… Relax, tranquilidad. Parece un corneta tocando diana para que se levanten los soldados. Y no ha respetado la partitura original. Sin duda la peor interpretación de esta obra que he escuchado. Ha destrozado la obra y su espíritu.
To me this interpretation is really disappointing, Segovia said Alirio was his best student in the Accademia Chigiana? I have no explanation for that. But here there's no heart, there's no expression, just a narcisistic show of muscles and speed, the sound is dirty, he keeps messing up with the music sheet... what does he think is doing? The world is full of guitarists more sensitive and technically better prepared than him.
