This is what music should be about. Musicianship, melody, harmony, perfect interplay of the instrument, balance, no one trying to stand out only making music as it should be.
Allison , I can still see you and your pet chicken walking down the sidewalk on hill street. Your neighbor across the street. You have the voice of an angel. Leon
I heard Allison and company sing Going to Carolina in my mind. Absolutely stunned me for the good. James Taylor was there in the audience, everyone was blown away. Truely a blessed talent.
The complex verses, dynamic choruses that touch all the deep notes back to the high one, it tittilates the senses.. they don't just repeat one catchy tune they create rythms and ride the waves through the spectrum of emotions, laying you down softly before blowing you gently back into the musical clouds of bliss like a feather so light of weight.. beauty
Eddie - you wrote the above 5 years ago - wish I had read it sooner! Wonderfully written - capturing this ensemble's talents and the true depth of the song!
Not just beautiful but laden with an indescribable powerful drive ...incredibly awesome!! Thank you for this more than wonderful share..... ~Marianne...
Gonna lay my burden down Lay my body in the ground Cold clay against my skin But I don't care at all Can't seem to find my piece of mind So with the earth I'll lay entwined Six feet underground My feet are warm and dry When I get to the other side I'll put your picture way up high But I'm not coming back to you It's just too far If I was cast off on the sea Would you come and look for me Or would you just let me sink Beneath the waves so blue What if I had learned to fly Fly all night till day drew nigh Touch down upon a branch and Scan the crowd for you When I touch my feet on the land I'll kiss your lips and take you in But you know I'm not here to stay It's just too far Darling can't you hear me cry My bones are broke My tongue is tied The moon is swaying back and forth Against the navy sky Is all I can see My body is trembling on my knees Just have a little mercy on me Run away and hide When I sleep the angels sing But I cannot hear a thing Eyes close Dreaming of the better days gone by When I wake the trumpets play And I'm standing at the gates Fall down and joy I know my race has just been won When I was young my momma would say Well life is hard, but that's O.K. If you can make it through the day It's not that far
Who would ever have thought that the best music nowadays would derive from and revert back to the traditional Appalachian music of bluegrass, country and folk songs. It isn't rock and roll anymore or blues per se.
Great performance. Truly a gift. As a side note, conspicuously absent are the piano stylings of Paul Shaffer, and nobody mentioned it. Perhaps there is a god.
David Letterman is where I first discovered the unbelievable voice and harmonies of AKUS back in 1995...they did Baby Now that I've Found you. I would love to see that video here...can't find it.
Beautiful song. I didn't understand why she was holding her fiddle, but didn't play it. I kept waiting for her to play the fiddle. I agree her makeup was not the best and the same with the hair. She looks as if she "had makeup on" instead being more causal and natural with it.
Whaa?? Alison looks like an angel. I think her skin looks like porcelain, peaches & cream. Some of you folks experts on face lifts? Sign me up! I've been listening to this album almost exclusively for 2 months. Love it, just love it. Does the guitar player have his capo right on the 2nd fret? Can anyone catch the chords please?

you can see that in the old videos when she wasn't famous yet. that's true talent. luckily she's so down to earth that she hasn't burned out like some others with equally great talent
How can you not love this group. Allison has the voice of an Angle, Jerry Douglas has no equal, Dan and Ron are nothing less than amazing on guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocals.
Thanks Alison... for puttin bluegrass back on the horizon in a serious and tasteful way! And for what it's worth, I think David Letterman has been a great supporter of bluegrass and acoustic music in the past... Nice job, everyone :)
She can do almost any style of music and make it hers. Just put on some headphones, close your eyes and listen to her voice and her band - magnificent.
+Mark Thompson Hey Mark i have been listening to Alison all night and I have been at a loss for words because I don't have enough time to say them all. You have summed it up for me. thanks , Love her! Great talent! Again thanks!
Let's also not forget to give credit to Aoife O'Donovan who wrote this amazing song. She too has a very beautiful voice. If you haven't heard of her before, check her out. Very talented singer/song writer!
I just saw (& heard, & spoke with) her! I attended an I'm With Her concert, and while I thought their singing was wonderful over the radio and online, in person (& 30 feet away!) was totally incredible! She is beautiful and very engaging - my new favorite of the three (though I will always appreciate Sara & Sarah). Of course, I have really enjoyed Alison Krauss for years - don't think I forgot her!
Amazing. Beautiful. Pitch perfect with no autocorrect. No autotune, no vocoding, no thumping overly loud processing, Just talent. Stuff these days has been so overprocessed worse than cheap lunch meat. When did talent and musicianship go out of fashion? Compare/Contrast WAP. Get off my lawn!

If you planted hope today in any hopeless heart, if someone’s burden was lighter because you did your part, if you caused a laugh that chased a tear away, if tonight your name is mentioned when someone kneels to pray. Then your day was well spent.
Judi Harbin Thank you. My soul is weary and restless. There are times I wake up and only wish I didn't wake to another day. But I know it is because I have neglected God. After my mother died last year is when this started. Her death hurt me deep. But then I read this verse just now. It gives me hope.
Bless you, Michelle. My Mom just passed on Christmas Day, but what a glorious day she went on to no pain and suffering. She loved Jesus so much and she is with Him now. Be comforted!
Michelle Albarran you're amazing!!! Keep going. I'm trying so hard since my husband is leaving me. I NEED SOMETHING in my life. what I've been doing ain't working.....
