Alison screwed them badly.

I've never seen or heard the word 'sconce' in my life. I'm not even sure where I could have encountered it, not being an architect or interior designer.

I sometimes wonder that. Like, when the brothers were becoming excellent TV but were going to be partnered with Amanda (who usually loses to Greg), they were put against a couple who wasn't very good. I wonder if the producers pit them against weaker players when they're good TV. But this time, Allison just didn't choose any hard words and they went from being 750-0 to being the first to play round four (given the other team could win with their higher point clues).

You guys are spot on. They knew these guys would keep winning 10k almost every show. You can’t pick 3 yellows and 2 greens unless the two people are morons. Most of the reds are pretty easy anyways.

@@blue84freak I haven't watched this episode in a long time and don't remember the content but are they really afraid one team is so good they'll constantly keep winning? Seems pretty unlikely and I think they expect to give away up to a million dollars given they film 100 episodes a season so they aren't penny-pinching; they just set the grand prize at $10,000 to balance it out. That being said, I remember thinking Allison seemed to set them up to fail.

Yeah, and Orlando seemed to think "White Claw" was the description of a bird's talon. Saying it was super hard, etc.

Not only did she not pick one red, but also 2 greens??? For guys that are dominating the game. I think producers told her to do that otherwise those guys were gonna win 10 thousand almost every day.

@@blue84freak Nah, they don't care if a team plays over and over 'cause eventually they lose, etc. Maybe Allison just isn't that sharp of a contestant?

@@johnsmi213 Alison definitely is one of the weakest "celebs" on there. But those guys may have lost eventually, but they were going to win for a while. And the point of getting rid of them is that they give away 10,000 dollars only once a week on average. More often than not, the contestants fail in the final round and win a prize that doesn't cost the show any money. They win a trip that is paid for by the sponsor (hotel, travel site, etc.) and the loser teams get something like a cheap gift card, again not costing the show any money. These guys were winning $10,000 almost every show and it was clear they were going to win more than they lose. It looked like they would at worst win the 10k 4 out of 5 times in a week. The show isn't built to give away 40k per week. It's a cheap game show that is meant to give away prizes that don't cost the show money. The main budget goes to Meredith. The producers could have seen that these guys were going to cost the show. But I do agree..... it's possible Alison is just a dummy. It just seems a little too crazy to me that she took all green and yellow ones for these guys who are so good at the game.... then the very next show for an average team she takes 3 reds! I mean..... that's wild.

@@blue84freak I really don't think they would sabotage a team from winning often; I wonder if you're watching the recent episodes. They can only win $10,000 which sounds like the show is cheap but I think it's because they have to budget in giving away a million dollars in case they get a winner every episode of the season. So anything less than that recoups the budget and it's always like 25% of that. I can't imagine them being afraid to keep a team around because, as I said, there is a recent team that has just gone on for 16 days in a row and the producers seemed ecstatic about it. I think maybe Allison, who I believe was on season one, just is cavalier about how she approaches the game and these champions need celebs who take it as seriously as they do. In season one, there was a casualness about the whole thing, like the celebs made it more about showing off their wit than doing well at the game. Maybe Allison still approaches it like that and also in season one, the fourth round was decided by contestants and she maybe never understood strategy for how to do it. (Since I doubt she watches the show religiously; she probably considers it a side gig to do whenever she needs money.)

I bet the brothers could have nailed it. It seems tough when the contestants struggle. It seems easy when the contestants breeze through it, even if they just happened to immediately get a good clue for a hard word.
