Paul told the Corinthians to remove the person who married his mother in law and Matthew 18: ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector." It is not canceling, it is love for God, love for the church, obedience to God's word. And all of this done in love of God, love of the church, and in hope the person(s) repent and are restored. If we do not follow commands from the Bible, we are not loving God, church, or the person.

Amen and the TRUTH will set you free! When a wedding ceremony is performed the Pastor who is performing the ceremony asks the question “if anyone who objects to this union speak now or forever hold your peace.” That says it all that’s the reason that Christians should not join in the a LGBTQ wedding ceremony as it is against GOD and his unchanging Word!

Begg made this whole thing worse by defending his stance through a sermon known as COMPASSION.

So well laid out. So many people unwittingly fall into this trap, as they don't want to be ungracious or 'un-Christian-like'. The enemy uses multiple avenues of attack to confuse the truth and lead people astray.

You've got to wonder about the unspoken presuppositions that ground our doctrine on the scriptures.

LGBT rules by our reactions. We must stay calm and firm. No reaction is the best action. We are dealing with the reprobate nonfunctioning mind. Treat insane people with compassion. They need a rescue by Jesus Christ not affirmation by believers.

It’s interesting how so many who support Begg’s ungodly advice also support female pastors (which Begg also has). Once you start down the slippery slope it’s hard to go back.

The sad thing is it distracts us from God’s Way.

The Gospel of Salvation is foolishness to those dying. Who cares what the dead think of us. Our job is to share the Good News with them, not meet their approval.

I agree with the analysis. My question is how consciously does Begg and others contribute to the dialectical arc?

You do a very detailed examination of how the Left is working to erode Christianity. You do such a great job of detailing how the Left works, you make a very startling argument against any supernatural power of the Bible and the Holy Spirit to protect Christians. How did Alistair and Ravi go astray despite decades of reading the Word of God? Well, you did a great job of explaining how the Maoists is greater than any supernatural power of the Bible and Holy Spirit. If there was supernatural power, you would not need to spend any time dissecting the Left’s strategy.

I would assert the issue is more from Bible illiteracy. Hehe i so want to say and yes that my opinion :) And that is the root of the problem as joking or flippant as it might be...? Would assert i attend a Church body that might be a bit more conservative, traditional and solid as bodies of fellowships go, but all to often i'll quote bible verses without "Chapter Verse x ....." and simply live off the book, chapter and verse number and hear so many say "Well that is just your opinion..." So tired of arguing with others but honestly more a prayer request... If we turn and rely on the Bible: 2 Cor 6:14) Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? How can one go 'fellowship' at a guy union, won't call it marriage as that already as a strict definition of what it is... And for that matter think Augustine said it well... In essentials unity, non-essentials liberty but in all things Charity. While in Mr. Begg's case is he more in love with being divisive to prove a point, that for all matters is a rather sinful/rebellious point, or more in love with God, as in "In all things... Charity" And the Charity/Love is more to please God. And even worse God desires all Christians to be above reproach and "Avoid all appearances of evil..." Wonder Mr. Beggs position would be the same for Christians to avoid a love feast where it would be full of immorality... I mean, hey it is all in the spirit of love... How can "Love" be wrong... In the end hard to see decent pastor give the advice Mr. Begg has... Furthermore as i might assert many may look up to Mr. Begg as being a spiritual leader for a number, can't help thinking is his choice/leadership or whatever we might call it, a source to cause younger believers to stumble... I love asking people "What does Holy, mean?" Holy is for believers to be set apart and be pleasing to God. In the end with Mr. Begg endorsing gay marriage, why is it i'm thinking of Isa 5:20 (calling good evil and evil good..) Then again seeing stuff like this is so encouraging... Not that it is good an any way, just give me more confidence that what Christ said shows two things. First what He has said and revealed to us is coming true and i can put confidence in God's word, this give me more confidence God predicted it. Second if we see this happening, simply means we are that much closer to seeing Him and this life will be over with... Again sad to see , but sure all see why it is encouraging... Or in a nutshell... "KEEP YOUR EYES on JESUS", He shall be here sooner than we think... That is encouraging to me, and all the other true saints in Him 😍😍😍

It's good that this issue has come up. The church needs to use discernment when it comes to what is right and what is wrong. Begg seems to be skating around the border of the social gospel that has infiltrated the church. It's a different gospel. Not good.

If we follow the model that Jesus gave to us in Matthew 18 and what Paul wrote in I Corinthians and II Corinthians, we have our answer. Reconciliation is the whole point of this discussion. This must come from the Elders of Parkside to call Alister Begg to account. If he will not listen to them, then Alister should be put out of the church even if it looks bad. If Begg repents, then reconciliation and forgiveness are to take place. Cancel Culture is not forgiving, it is not loving and does not lead to reconciliation; it only leads to capitulation.

If Pastor Begg would call us to use him as the measuring stick for what constitutes true compassion in such matters, then we’re apparently worshipping the wrong Savior. Jesus confronted the woman at the well and the adulteress woman with great compassion, but the fact is He DID confront them. He didn’t enter into their sin-he called them OUT of it. Ideas and counsel do have consequences; the fact that Pastor Begg rejects out of hand that he may have erred in his answer to the brokenhearted grandmother may cost even more. How shall he respond upon learning that grandma will then feel biblically justified to attend a baby shower, gift in hand? Christ died an excruciating death on the cross to save us from Hell itself: it was not an act of compassion.

A few questions a. Did they, whoever they may be spoke to him, b. Is there not a guideline in the Bible that tells us how to handle a dispute with a brother - was this done and in particular by the pastor who delightfully posted the you tube that started this issue, c. Did the printers talk to him - or is it a consideration of money, d. Where are all those who critize him when it comes to the gay pastor that started a church, church of satan, the wealth movement, etc. In my opinion they did not stick to biblical guidelines either and played right into the hands of then left. Imagine excomunication of a pastor from his own church. And no I do not think he was right but I also donnt think the way the children went about this in the public media is acceptable. God forgives yet they insist he must apologise to them in order to get forgiveness.

It's disingenuous to claim Alistair isn't being cancelled. He absolutely is. 'It's diffenrent in the church because we have an infallible authority.' Subsititue critical theory for the bible and you have exactly the rationale used by the woke mob. Ideological capture is when ideas become more real than the people who hold them. Such capture posits a summum bonem justifying inhumane behavior in the service of love, or whatever else sits at the top of the ideological hierarchy. None of this means a christian ought attend a gay/trans wedding. But it does mean we need to look carefully at our real motivations because the bible gives us a ready justification that can easily mask something darker. Self deception is among the greatest temptations any of us face. This is especially pernicious when we act in groups. If I want to see someone's real character I watch what happens when they are at the top of an asymmetry of power whether that be interacting with a server at a restaurant, another driver on the road, or a believer who has colored outside the lines.

What if the grandmother never existed? What if there was no gay/trans grandson/granddaughter? No gay/trans wedding? No Bible gift?
