Welcome to another trip report!
On May 17, I flew Alitalia's Economy product on one of their A330s from New York's JFK Airport to Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. I feel like it was pretty mediocre compared to other European airlines Economy products.

“Pretty mediocre pre-meal service” . I can’t remember the last time i even got a pre-meal service. Been flying with Iberia, air canada, and latam for 20 years and have never got one (unless i was in business) so you should be thankful 😂

On one flight from New York they skipped my row ( I was alone on that side ) during drinks service. I was awake, not sleeping. I rang the bell and nobody ever showed up . Great service 👍

Absolutely like the editing on this trip report, balance of time in minutes on each scene, luv the slowmo effect on pouring juice just like TV adver/commercial and when to add background music and let visuals do the talking... getting more professional

In JFK with an alitalia ticket you can go also to the Airfrance lounge, it’s nicer than the alitalia’s one. I tried it, it’s not so far from the Alitalia lounge

Haha! I travelled Economy on Gulf Air to CDG and we were given an ice cream on a stick for breakfast!! It was winter and snowing in Paris… I wonder what they got in First Class :)

does anyone know how strict are with the luggage carry on size in alitalia for international flights? i have a huge issue finding a carry on that meet the standards of both star alliance members like Lufthansa and swiss... and those belong in the other one..like delta air france and alitalia...

Hehehehe!! I hear you. Yeah, sometimes meal service in Economy Class by other airlines will leave the foil partially open so that you can see that your meal was cooked in their oven on the airplane there. So that you can see the steam come out of that meal...

Absolutely do Lufthansa. I've been to Fiumancino and Leonardo da Vinci and they were both madhouses. Paragons of Italian organisation. But Alitalia looks quite good and has an excellent safety record.

A majority of Alitalia aircraft are leased to the airline by an Irish leasing company therefore the planes are on the Irish registration list instead of the Italian ones. 'EI' is Ireland (Eire) and 'I' is Italy (Italia). I wonder if they aircraft have to ever go to Dublin for maintenance or something even though they're an Italian airline.

JFK is such the international airport that it is...You can see some many international airlines that you don't see in other cities unless that particular airline is flying to others...Chicago, San Francisco, LA and Miami are the other major cities...

I do not understand why people are allowed a carry-on plus a backpack as big as a carry-on. Backpacks should be prohibited. Also if my luggage is a lb or two over weight I am charged but a passenger who is as big as an elephant and overspills their seat into mine is not.

Alitalia are not recovering, but has to be kept alive by government funding of a million - per day. Business operations dont seem to be the italians' strong point. Which is a shame because I guess we all are curious of trying (before they die off completely) some italian business class catering: Massive food and booze all the way :D

Nice review. Could you consider flying Singapore Airlines from Frankfurt to JFK or SQ from Manchester to Houston on A350? Any class will surprise you on SQ! Talk about good cabin service and food!

LI Flyer that’s certainly a good option but DC to Cairo is the newer route, so when it’s safe to fly, I highly recommend DC-Cairo, but JFK-CAI is fine

Alitalia "is" experiencing economic problems at this time... every year its balance is in the red. And this situation has been carrying on for about 20 years, sadly, using billions of public economic loans... the management of the company is very bad
