In this episode, Stew shows you this really tidy, pretty much standard spec Defender Td5 90.
It's hard to believe this car is 25 years old, but being a 1999, V reg model, this has the early type 10P, Euro 2 spec engine fitted, as well as its original MSB part number ECU. These require a chip change within the ECU, where we unsolder the original engine calibration eprom (chip), then solder in a surface mount socket to accept the new, custom tuned eprom we program for the car.
In standard spec this 90 made a respectable 120hp and 287Nm. With our Stage 1 tuning, the final results were an impressive 175hp and 398Nm!
That’s a gain of +55hp and +112Nn, with the smoothness you’d expect from Alive, and of course, really clean emissions.
