This is some truly great content - your organization and format is awesome, and I really appreciate a doctor's perspective as opposed to your average tech reviewer. I know health tech is starting to boom right now, and it's so hard to know what is snake oil and what's not. Keep up the good work, subscribed and will share!

great stuff, keep producing great stuff and your channel will keep growing! the beginning days of RU-vid are usually slow but it starts to ramp exponentially if the quality is there... the more you get the algorithmic wind at your back as more people like and subscribe and watch, it becomes kind of a virtuous cycle edit: ... and stay well!

@@DigitizeHealth ... and that is one of the nicest replies from a content creater for me ever too!! I'm glad it provided some deserved encouragement. One other thing, don't become too much of a slave to the algorithm or YT optimizations especially with regard to frequency of posts... just when you do post, make it decent and worthwhile as you always do. Pick topics that also interest you, this shouldn't become too much of an extra job for you... that's no fun! Keep it low pressure for yourself. And once you have a subscriber, they are not likely to unsubscribe because of lack frequent-enough posts (aren't most of our watchlists and other shiny things already overflowing!!)... no... people usually only unsubscribe when their present interests change OR value/quality of channel content changes, too many adds and promotion, etc. Anyway, I'll definitely keep following and enjoy your progression over time! Thank you for all you do as a doctor IRL and via wider means by sharing generously with the world on YT!! Stay healthy! 😘

I suffer from bradycardia and use this device (Kardia Mobile 6L) along with my watch and digital BP monitor, all of which detect bradycardia as low as 39 bpm on average 46 bpm. My primary physician referred me to cardiologist who stated I indeed have Bradycardia. This device along with other devices were paramount in detecting what normal visits to my physician did not. As we all know sometimes symptoms do not always occur when you need them to such as during a visit to your physicians office. White coat syndrome.

one thing that's confusing is this - ok, the company says that the device cannot be used to detect heart attacks and this probably due to ALL their liability lawyers screaming at them to hammer that point. BUT, if a CARDIOLOGIST had this device, could they use the information it provided to diagnose a heart attack? or if you buy a reading from alivecor's cardiologists, would THEY be able to tell whether someone was having a heart attack? in their eagerness to not sell this device for that purpose they kind of confuse two different issues: 1. whether the A.I. examining the traces can detect a heart attack (currently, they are just short of shrieking NO!) 2. whether the device itself is capable of taking readings that a cardiologist can use to determine if someone's having a heart attack. would really like an answer to that. because i've read other articles that say that the device is capable of showing whether a stemi is occurring or not.

I'm still unable to understand in which way this device would be helpful and it's a genuine question, not a troll question. If the device says it's a normal ECG/EKG we can't be assured. If the device says it's abnormal we need to get the doctor involved anyway and the doctor most certainly won't look at the data generated by this 6L device as it won't fit into their medical protocol. The doctor would anyway take 12L ECG/EKG to assess the situation. So what's the point of this device? I appreciate the advancement of the technology but in its current form what's the use of this device?

The following are my general thoughts only and do not constitute medical advice. Please also see the following disclaimer: www.termsfeed.com/live/af774a86-a70d-4a33-a2eb-efbd0caab6f3 One of the tricky parts in detecting abnormal rhythms is that in some they are fleeting, sporadic, or short lived yet of a serious nature/ one needs to be aware of them. A 12 lead ECG taken at a single point of time can be falsely reassuring as at that moment the heart may not be beating abnormally. Devices like the KardiaMobile have significantly helped medical professionals diagnose these abnormal rhythms in individuals as they are small (compared to a holter monitor- a device worn for 24 hours attached to a battery pack), easy to use and can be used rapidly. They are also usually more cost effective than a holter monitor. You are right it may not confirm a diagnosis- further tests may be needed but it could provide the first piece of the puzzle that would have otherwise been missing or missed.

I agree with your issues and question. There is nothing this device can do that you can’t do with simply checking your pulse. As a paramedic of 38 years I find this device to be absolutely useless. If I have a smart watch that can check my pulse or I can feel it with my fingers I can do what this device does. Save your money.

Subbed - thx for the very useful information! Question: I am diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia. In your opinion, since there's already a diagnosis, can this device still provide useful information to pass to my cardiologist? Meaning, when I feel 'weird' it's usually for a very limited time, and such a device would allow me to measure it when it happens. Good idea or useless? PS: It took them MONTHS to figure it out (eventually a holter monitor led to my diagnosis), and today I'm still not 100% sure they see the full picture. That's why I'm looking into this stuff if it's useful or not... Edit: the money to purchase whatever solution is not a factor in my decision making. Only if it provides value.

Was it able to pick up the actual ventricular rhythm(wide complex appearance) or did it just simply pick up a fast rate? I am debating purchasing this for a ventricular dysrhythmia and any help would be appreciated

@@smariciak I purchased the device and can highly recommend it. Quality build. Keep in mind you have to pay a monthly fee to get rythmia feedback. In my case, I stopped using it as I did hundreds of scans without any signs. It still helped me to relax as it confirmed I had no problem.

Hi, can this pick up PVC's specifically? Does it actually trace the electrical pattern through the heart to provide the ECG or is it just making a prefabricated picture of an ECG in synchrony with the beats? I am just trying to capture PVCs specifically. Thank you.
@bill9989

I bought one a month ago. The doctor here pretty much reviewed the unit WITHOUT the extra membership. Without the membership, the analytics are very basic, although the tracings may have all the info for a doctor to read (I don'tknow). But my unit, after buying the membership has shown "Sinus Rhythm with Supraventricular Ectopy," Sinus Rhythm with Premature Ventricular Contractions," "Normal Sinus Rhythm" and one time "Atrial Fibrillation." So it's a completely different (better) unit with the membership. Edit: so yes, with membership it will detect PVCs and PACs.

Providing a determination of Bradycardia or Tachycardia is not very much. If you know the definitions, e.g. below 60 bpm or above 100 bpm. Two fingers and a wristwatch can tell you that.
@klipin4379
@klipin4379 2 года назад
I agree. After a bout of A-Fib pattern, I was given a holter monitor. The holter monitor's report said nothing I had not already reported to my doctor when I first noted Bradycardia, then palpitations, then racing heart rate, myself. But doctors tend not to trust a patient's personal account, they want to see data they can trust.

If having the six leads is essentially useless, why choose the 6L over the basic model? What are the advantages?

Could the device reveal abnormal features related to MI to a specialist interpreting the output?
@DigitizeHealth
@DigitizeHealth 4 года назад
Theoretically it could show some signs of certain types of MI however MI is such a serious diagnosis, using the device to rule out MI would be dangerous and not advised. Even a 12 lead (hospital grade ECG/EKG) can miss MI if a single reading is used for diagnosis and there is an important type of MI called an NSTEMI (non ST elevation MI) which can have normal heart traces, hence the need for an urgent consultation, blood tests in certain cases etc to complete the picture and assist with diagnosis. Hope that helps!

Would this device be useful if you have Atrial Flutter not Atrial fibrillation? I was ready to purchase one of the 6L units based on 6 levels of detection however I just found out you only get 3 unless you purchase a pay for service Kardicare. Can you tell me which 3 levels of detection are free? If a person has Lymphedema in one of their arms and Doctors do not use that arm for regular Blood Pressure measurements, would the KardiaMobile still be useful?

Typical doctor, consult a GP, etc. and then line up and wait to get an appt. until you are really sick or dead. I have AFib and this is a great device for a cardiologist to review the data.

Hi Bryan! It is a very good device for data to show to a Cardiologist/ healthcare professional who can interpret the data but not for all conditions. Glad you liked the video and keep watching!! 😊

@@DigitizeHealth exactly! Not all conditions. But the question is... does it show most common rhythm changes? I didn’t hear or see anywhere on their website say that whether it detects j-point ST elevations such as in early repo or pericarditis? Will it show junctional, heart blocks, ST depressions? Ventricular tachycardia?

It is the 6 L device, but when he was doing jumping jacks to increase his heart rate, he did not use the rear contact, thus was not using it in 6L mode, which is not as precise or informative.
