A location steeped in WW2 history, We had to use rope to access the bunker original ladder missing from time.
We have been to so many bunkers and tunnels around the UK and this is one right on our doorstep that we didn't know about! Lets check it out folks .

I had visions of that ending in an interment. Its easy to see how some people go for a walk and just disappear and nothing sinister about it. They simply fell down one of these places or an old well that's been forgotten about. Thanks for sharing.

They are amazing places, I went down one in Hollingbourne 20 odd years ago, shame they're not preserved

Oh and the antenna wire generally fed from the emergency escape tunnel end of the main room from memory, up a clay water pipe.

Really enjoyed this one! I was out literally this time last year searching for one in South Devon. Eventually found it although the main area had collapsed

Alpine butterfly loop knots work well for improvised rope ladder - fixed loops and relatively easy to untie afterwards 👍

Few years ago while looking at old maps with shelters on a found one of these bunkers at West Chevington Northumberland found two both all dug out by a jcb unfortunately, but it makes you wonder how many if any have been left untouched and forgotten about a no they are all Scotland as well , fascinating really especially all the kit that was used by them brave lads
