Join the Tech3D Discord Server and talk to us all about this stuff! discord.gg/r9fwR668RF Greetings! I intentionally left out the majority of the LT apps i.e Inventor LT, Revit LT and Maya LT as they're not worth the additional time this would have added to the already not-at-all-consistent-with-modern-viewing-habits video length! But they're just cut down versions of what I already talked about, I only mentioned AutoCAD LT as it's so overwhelmingly popular and well known as a brand. Also, although I mentioned Eagle at 26:01, I didn't give it as much time as it probably deserved as I thought it was merged into F360 and now a "module" of Fusion 360 rather than a separate app... but it does actually have its own icons and badging etc still so that probably should have had its own section. But for those asking "what about XYZ etc" - I limited the list to Autodesk products that had marketing assets and their own branding, therefore defining them as an actual product rather than a plugin/addon. There's several hundreds of plugins i.e. Bifrost, the Guided Tutorial Plugin, the Autodesk Material Library etc etc etc but they're not what I was targetting with this video and including those would have made this video several hours long and it would have taken until 2024 to finish that! Massive respect to Humtog for his video, seriously, he did a sterling job considering how difficult it is to understand these programs. I'm familiar with most of the apps but even I didn't know what half of them actually existed for, and when you look into them they all seem to have duplicate purposes with other apps making it really hard to understand why they exist. But ultimately I was shown his video on January 3rd in my Discord server this year and began working on this one around a week later after realising he did get quite a few things wrong, and with his goal being to keep it to 12 minutes (doing RU-vid right) it wasn't really long enough per product so I thought I'll have a crack but take it to the next level and have a go at literally every single one of them. There's a chance I might have missed one or two obscure products or services, but tbh Autodesk change their stack so frequently anyway it probably won't matter in the grand scale.

This would be like if Adobe said "If you want to draw pictures, first we need to know what types of pictures you plan to draw...where you want to save them....who you're going to send them to....what industry you're in....how much detail you want.....and what you plan to do with them....then we plug all that into a supercomputer....and it tells you which 19 variations of the 23 different drawing programs you need...."

...So many software packages for CNC milling. They should consolidate them into a single software perhaps with different licensing options for any additional features. I don't understand if it is profitable to maintain so many different code_base developments.

Extraordinary work sir! Everything that you do is exemplary. As a admirer of your contributions and life long fan of Autodesk Products, this product portfolio masterpiece helps to significantly better understand the scope and breadth of what has been impossible for me to follow and thereby segment by product category everything that Autodesk has developed and acquired over the years beyond core CAD offerings which I know and use daily...and even still, the add in kernels per each software package often make me wonder if I am choosing the right program for my needs. Such could be compared to specing out a Porsche product...start with a base 911, end up with a GTS that costs more than a 911 Turbo S...at which point ends in a moment of extreme pocketbook pause. For instances aside, truly splendid work that you produce...you epitomize the definition of a professional through and through.👌

As I read elsewhere: AutoCAD Electrical should really read "AutoCAD Schematic". Because what it can do with electrical components it can also do with hydraulics and pneumatics. Which does make the bridge with Inventor hydromechanical instead of electromechnical and it's more in the roam of the mechanical engineer then of the electrical engineer. Especially when combined with the routing functionality of Inventor for piping. It's funny, but now the toolsets have been lumped into One AutoCAD I am discovering possibilities I wouldn't have minded knowing about years ago. Thanks for the overview.

It brings in nearly 30% of $4b per year for them, the discussion centres around the people using it rather than Autodesk straight up pulling it. We converted a lot of users away from it but some people just don't need 3D, however I suspect a mass majority of that 30% could probably move to 3D but just don't feel comfortable/don't know how or don't feel they can spare the time to do it.

This is why I stay away from this product. Its just needlessly complicated, pay-walled to the max and clogs up your driver space with apps and background tasks that are impossible to uninstall.

Hi Neil, Great to see you doing a bit of inventor stuff again. This video is great, beats the heck of trudging through the Autodesk website trying to figure out what they have for something and then which one might work best. There is a bunch of the civil engineering ones that I think our Civil engineering tutors don't know about and should be using so I'll send them a link . We

Hello Neil, What about 3DSMax Interactive ? Did I missed it in your amazing summary of Autodesk Product? Do you have any information about it. I know that they did not update to 2022 but I'm still using the 2021 to convert my 3D models environments for VR (Quest 2) exploration. I'm concerned if they will discontinued the app the same way they killed Showcase which was very intuitive and easy to use. Thanks !
@Neil3D
@Neil3D 2 года назад
I think 3DS Max Interactive used to be the Stingray program...? But then it just became a module/feature within 3DS Max? Not sure. There are quite a lot of little side-apps that I didn't cover which get installed alongside the major programs, like the Autodesk Material Library, Alias Create VR, the Autodesk Guided Tutorial Plugin, the Autodesk Genuine Service... even the Vault Web Client, Bifrost, there's hundreds upon hundreds of them. I drew the line at only covering programs which have marketing assets and there own icon/product pictures etc or else the list would have gone into the hundreds upon hundreds and never ended... ideally I only wanted to cover things you could actually subscribe to but then some products with those letter icons were things that are part of the collections so things got complicated quite quickly.

@@Neil3D Thanks for your answer. I believe my comment was not to point out a missing application from this outstanding video you made... Sorry. I should only asked if you know anything about the future of Autodesk 3DSMax Interactive ? Inside my Product and Design Suite, the app is only available under the 2021 year and like you said, more as a plugin or additional feature. Thanks.

@@PhilipRivard No worries m8 at all, honestly I've not come across that one recently so I'm not sure if its still there or not... Autodesk dont seem to be investing much (publicly facing anyway) in VR and AR and seem to be focusing all their energies into the AEC market at the moment, their immersive technology is quite weak at the moment with Vred and whatever Max can do only really holding them up in there. But actually I have just come across a forum post from an Adsk employee saying that Interactive wasn't released for 2022 and is in fact being shut down, with Adsk genuinely suggesting people go use Unreal Engine instead! Wow... forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max-forum/cannot-find-quot-interactive-quot-menu-in-3ds-max-2022/td-p/10205687

@@Neil3D Yes, I saw the same post. It's really disapointing to learn a software and find that they pull the plug on it after a couple of years. Like I said, this happen with showcase in the past. The positive thing about this, is that I found your video about showcase in the past and this is when I started to follow you. I really respect your opinion and your point of view and your tech skills. I've built about the same PC as you, from your list, for Inventor, I recently bought a stream deck.... you are really my influencer #1 about CAD stuff. :) Thanks for this...

I vividly remember being the pre-sales tech guy sat in a shed in Aberdeen, I remember the name of the place as well it was this hard as nails metal bashing fabricrator still using AutoCAD... we were going through the push to get people from AutoCAD off onto the Design Suites, and... Mudbox was part of the canned demo being used to sculpt some car seat because apparently thats how we were telling people they should be working...! I just gave it a wide birth but it was the fact that this was what we were meant to talk about!

great comprehensive video! well, 0.63% of revenue in Hadid’s isn’t that bad, but in my case it is 10-20% and yes it is greedy!
@Neil3D
@Neil3D 2 года назад
I believe... just off memory, the figures he quoted was that on average the "clients" who put their name to the letter on average spent 0.63% of their revenue on Autodesk software, not just Hadid, and on average that number was actually 0.23% across the entire industry. But for indviduals and very small contractors that number will indeed be dramatically bigger! But thanks man appreciated, given how well this video did I want to do more stuff like this!

You have missed Autodesk Eagle😅
@Neil3D
@Neil3D 2 года назад
I didn't :P It's now bundled into Fusion 360 and I mentioned it at 26:01. I know it's a separate download but I had to make some creative choices along the way to keep it flowing! To be honest though that one might have been an error, I remember Hoop Dog saying it was "merged" into F360 so I assumed the Eagle product just became a module of Fusion360 and ceased being a product in its own right so I didn't look it up, I didn't see any product icons or badging for it in the digital asset management system that Autodesk has either so I didn't go down that route much further!

@Neil3D

Overpriced is a relative statement, and literally every piece of software is buggy. Premiere Pro bugged out on me at least 34 times during the editing of this and added several hours onto what was already a very long job, and Windows 11 made my life more difficult than it needed to be.
