I've played piano my whole life, but even when I was in lessons I wasn't taught scales much or didn't ever really practice outside of lessons. As someone who's trying to dust up on my skills and solidify my basics so I learn more easily play advanced stuff, thanks for making this!

This is extremely helpful. I know all the scales but I have to refresh my fingering. At the moment I'm at Bb major, and this is the one that ties my fingers in knots every time. It's just not how I remember learning it all those years ago. Thank you for very clear and precise instructions. 👍👍

Never thought about having a fingering patern for scales on a piano. Just came to train my ear for guitar. Although I stopped playing for a while it's beautiful what music theory can do to expand your creativity and open up all forms of practice while implementing scales and chords.

this video is amazing just found out about it iv been playing piano for about 1 month now ( taking it seriously and practisting every day my tehcnique and i have learned how to play with my good hand both ways very cleanly and ur video helped alot i knew how to play c major c # minor and g major but with ur help i laerned the rest thank u alot . when i perfect this hand i will move to the other

I think it's the best thing to gain confidence to improvise and flow with your instrument. I enjoy the natural major/minor scale the most but messing around in pentatonic is kinda cool since it's easier to memorize the sound of the 5 notes. I learned that the pentatonic just has the 7th and 4th removed since those sound the most harsh in a scale! Or maybe 4th and 6th that are most harsh but definitely the 4th and one of those. Interesting to solo and keep things happy or to play those 2 and add tension!

A valuable video! Thanks!! Kindly advise: - An instrument, called Harmonium, is similar to Layout of Piano. I am learning that as well. Please look into it and advise if the practice of the 12 scales (in Harmonium) can be done with the same fingers as of Piano-. It shall be very useful for me. Hi really enjoy the detail in both the physicality and theory cause I'm a beginner and I realised you have to equally focus on both. My question is since I'm still learning scales I realised playing minor scale on left and major on right eg for C, sounds way better that Major Major and Minor Minor. Why is it so and how can you best practice scales with both hands? Thanks

Merci for this, you have a great way to present this. My only critique is that your finger movement is so smooth that it is sometimes hard to see which finger is moving. But I think that "fault" is just due to your talent. I am in the fist week of learing but I want to learn all my scales, so I will come back often to this video.

Thanks a lot for sharing. I've been practicing the C major scale, first RH then LH then slowly putting both hands together. I'm dealing with so much frustration. Doing it separately is sooo easy compared to the two hands, the mirror effect of the hands is really making it hard but I can feel that pushing through the early stages can get you far . just keep on breathing it should be alright

THank you so much for the video. I'm kinda disappointed cuz I was doing almost the exact same thing, but on my own, I was hoping to find a better way to do some of them, specially Gb and Ab, it feels so "amateur" or wrong to repeat the same fingers in the entire scale.
