Note: This video was way longer and I went into much more detail about the abilities of each, but I didn't want a 30+ minute video so I cut it down. There are a lot of good tips people are pointing out in the comments that I didn't mention in this video. It's super interesting to see how everyone plays this game differently.

Wow I couldn't get past half way, I really tried to ignore it but the way you would constantly repeat the same thing about a stance was extremely annoying, I can't believe that you made and edited this video and didn't notice it. I think you would make 2 points per stance and which takes 10 seconds and then spent the next minute or so repeatedly saying the same thing just in different ways wow! I only lasted as long as I did because after 100+ hours with the game I thought that you would have something worth listening to but that repetition was painful to watch and listen to. Maybe I'm being harsh because I just woke up 5 mins ago?

Someone obviously doesn't know that blaster parry let's you parry and I frame through unblockables. Also the quick draw doesn't consume ammo and is very good for bosses. Also blaster is best for single targets and bossfights because you can fire and charge while blocking and attacking, you need to get good at multitasking. Also youre supposed to use force powers to group or stun enemies with cross guard.
@fable23
@fable23 Год назад
The cross guard stance is meant to mimic things like the Colossal swords from Elden ring and Dark Souls. Those weapons also traded speed for tremendous power. The problem here is that in those games you had armor, which gave you Poise, which allowed you to tank a hit without having your animation interrupted, which helped to make up for the lack of speed. Cal doesn't have that. The tiniest prick of damage will instantly stop any of his cross guard stance attacks, making the lack of speed much more significant and detrimental.
@ZHL242
@ZHL242 Год назад
The devs have said that they really wanted Crossguard stance to reward proper spacing, which isn't something these games usually do. If you want to attack in neutral, you have to make sure you're spaced away from the lunge range of whoever your opponent is so that you won't be interrupted. Other than that, it's built much more for parrying and whittling down the stamina meter until you get a guard break and an opportunity for a charged force attack which does basically the same damage as 2-3 full neutral wins with other sabers lol

“You want to be dodging instead of blocking” It’s true that the stamina is lower with dual wield, but the skill ceiling for it is that there is an animation cancel for blocking on it so you can maximize dps and just watch for animations to parry while slashing. As a double enthusiast. It's still not THE weapon for groups. Its high commitment attacks and low stagger damage per attack makes it often get parried by enemies. It's circle throw abilities are so good and so fun but still you often end up trading damage to do them or it just misses.
@sispyhus
@sispyhus Год назад
I love the double bladed stance but where it fails at in crowd control is doing enough damage against high health enemies and fighting off flanking enemies. The lack of range makes it hard for you to pick off the stronger enemies who might be flanking or attacking at the same time as others. The animations also force you to commit, they are nearly as long as the cross guard stance making you pretty vulnerable. In lower difficulties I’m sure this is fine but on GM one animations can be the difference between dying or not so. With the single lightsaber having more ranged and slightly better power makes it so you can single out targets stronger targets more effectively.

@jonfall7941
@jonfall7941 Год назад
@@sispyhus totally agree. I play on gm and I could get comparable value to the double blade out of the crossguard in groups even. Against mobs of weak enemies the aoe pull combined with the L1 + square cleave attack basically does the job - Deflecting an amplified blaster shot does a good chunk of damage and starters and destroys shields so it's good for fighting vs ranged too - it also has the benefit of being strong enough to deal with tougher enemies with less commitment. I love the double blade but it isn't the end all be all of group combat. All of the stance can succeed at every situation if you use it right I think

The double-blade is pretty good at deflecting back blaster bolts but for certain enemies, the cross-guard's charged deflect is actually better. It destroys the Droidekas's shield in one hit. Single blade's really underrated, it also has one ability that makes it unique from the rest, the aerial dash strike attack, on some big bosses or flying enemies you can use it to close in, add one mid air attack then air dash out or do the aerial assault to drop to the ground or to home in at a knocked down opponent below. its one of the blade stances that makes you remember that you don't necessarily have to remain grounded all the time (blaster is the other one since you could do charge shots mid-air).

I primarily run Dual and Blaster at the moment and i primarily use Blaster for base-level enemies, switching to Dual when i have harder one-on-one fights. One trait that you didn't mention for Dual, that I'd argue is probably THE most important thing about Dual, is the ability to hit the GUARD button to cancel most attacks and immediately guard. In fact, I'd argue that with Dual, you actually want to do less dodging (unless absolutely necessary) and more parrying, due to the aforementioned trait. Tbh, the only stance i don't enjoy using is crossguard, and knowing that I'm limited to only 2 stances kills me, cuz while i love Blaster and Dual, i also love the aesthetic and simplicity of Single and the absolute untouchability and top-tier crowd control that Double can provide for me.

Blaster stance is so broken. Using the Marksmanship and Ambidexterity perks give you a bunch of added damage, the charged blaster shot stuns just about anything, the Flying Lunge attack is a great way to deal crazy stance damage and gap close, and the blaster can help further increase your combos, is able to be charged mid attack, and can one shot a good amount of enemies. Easily my favorite stance just because of the combos, stun lock, and sheer damage from it. And combining all of that with the Fortitude perk just makes the damage outrageously high.

This is a great tier list and consider me a new subscriber. I knew that you understood what you were talking about the second you mentioned Charged Reflection. That said as a Crossguard main, I am a bit disappointed you didn't consider force abilities. The Force is S-tier when it comes to crowd control, so weaknesses when it comes to crowd control isn't actually that bad. I think you went a bit too hard on double bladed. It definitely has better CC abilities than Dual. And like you said, double is easily as good as crossguard when it comes to destroying guards, especially with shatter. I'd honestly put it equal with Dual stances on this list in both regards (slightly above in CC, but slightly below in terms of bosses) And I like that you thought through the weaknesses of Dual and placed it in A for both. It's a really good stance, but it doesn't have the raw power against bosses that Crossguard does and its low stamina cripples it against strong and/or many ranged enemies (aka, many blaster bolts).

You wanted to know what we think, so I'll throw in my 2 cents. 1) Saberstaff ("double-blade") is very good at crowd control. It probably should be S tier at CC. However it's quite bad at boss fights if the boss has no ranged attacks, and has a block meter. 2) I'm glad you've acknowledged the power of Single saber. It really is a good stance. It can fill in any "gaps" or deficiencies that other stances have. It also seems to be Form IV, and since Qui-Gon Jinn and Yoda are my favorite Jedi, I automatically approve of Form IV. 3) Dual Wield is absolutely the "best" all-around stance for boss fights. If you're up against single or multiple melee opponents (with no ranged enemies) it shines. Being able to animation-cancel attacks is huge; being able to dodge-cancel attacks is huge; being able to precision-release Force Parry into a stance swap during the animation is huge; Serpent's Bite (hold down attack during Uncoiled Strikes) actually deals damage through blocks and staggers, plus the combo melts bosses who can't block; breaking the boss' block meter with anything -- from a regular parry, to Force Parry, to Serpent's Bite -- allows you to seamlessly switch to Crossguard or Single Saber for a large, single follow-up "punisher" attack. Dual Wield is such a deep, rewarding style that I could write an article on it. Definitely S tier for bosses, maybe even S+. Some guy beat all bosses on Grandmaster without taking damage with DW stance. 4) Crossguard isn't quite as bad as D tier at Crowd Control. Not only is Charged Reflect awesome, but so is Shockwave and Rolling Thunder. I'd probably but it at C tier. Also, it's a perfect compliment to Dual Wield in boss fights: see above. Good video @swanyplaysgames, I can tell you put work into this. I subbed and liked. You earned it!

I honestly use Single Bladed and Blaster Stance but have been tempted to use the other stances. Blaster stance is great for B1 droids and I find it the best for exploring with considering you can keep distance and the ammo regens pretty easy. Single bladed for when I have to deal with melee focused enemies and some bosses like Rayvis who can just tank blaster shots, not only that but it's the stance I use the most against blaster fire. Definitely surprised to see these two so high on this list, I knew they were good but I didn't know it was like that in relation to other stances.

This might come down to play style. For all you Soul's player's out there, Cal does not have poise, which is why cross guard requires careful timing. It is very good for boss encounters, and any situation where you have a lot of enemies with melee weapons. Crossguard absolutely destroys the poise of anything it touches, so if enemies are blocking, it really helps. Double-bladed was my preference for crowds though, I felt like my defenses were just generally stronger with the double-bladed equipped.

I am on my first playthrough of the game, I started on Grand Master since I was comfortable on it in Fallen Order and I am having a blast with the game. My most used stances are Single Bladed and Blaster stances. I just love the Makashi (Fencing) Style sword play of Blaster, it is very quick, powerful and has an excellent gap closer. I used to run Double Bladed alongside it for crowd control but I just unlocked the ricochet shot ability which will probably open up room for single bladed. For reference I just got back to Jedha after doing Shattered Moon and Dagan's retreat.

An important aspect of dual wield, is that you can cancel attacks and block instantly. It's the perfect parry style and the fast attacks obliterate block bars. and then you switch to crossguard and hit them with a force attack while they are stunned.

I pretty much used the crossgaurd stance the entire game. I think it is pretty good with crowd control. Like you said the blast shot is extremely useful when you have ranged enimies. It creates a aoe on them too. It may be slower but I find if your parrying and attack the right way it can deal with the more advanced enemies faster than other stances as it staggers them quicker and chunks their health. Not to mention taking out them damn sheilds in a hit or two.

I'm glad I'm not going crazy for thinking the Gun stance is better than I've heard others say. It really felt like such a good CC stance surprisingly. The dual wield stance also quickly became my favorite due to the innate animation canceling ability alone. It makes fighting any enemy so fun with the ability to constantly attack and then parry at a moments notice. For anyone using that stance, I HIGHLY recommend utilizing parries more than dodges and especially blocking due to the low stamina. There were many times where boss fights became almost trivial due to the ability to parry pretty much anytime even while attacking

I had the totally opposite experience in most of those cases. I would almost never take the double bladed lightsaber into bosses because id be locked into attack animations long after they recovered. But i think it was the best at crowd control for the reasons you said and one more thing. Its special moves cover a lot of distance so in fights with multiple big guys who you cant parry it was best to lure them into position get a hit in and push through to the other side where you can attack from the side they arent attacking and run away again. I loved the blaster for bosses because you could get in and out quickly and wear down their stamina from a distance before you parry and get the punish. But in crowds i was much easier to overwhelm. I never got the special shots tho. I think i took this one into the rancor The dual weilding was another one i loved for bosses because of its dodging strike where you can end a combo backed away and with som i frames. The crossgaurd i also didnt use until postgame because i messed around with it and it was too slow. But i mostly found its value in crowd control using the wide sweeping strike to break gaurds and kill many enemies at once or doing the same with the throw. Most bosses i remember having it for were too fast for me to find time to effectively use it. The single bladed lightsaber was my favorite for a long time because it was strong enough and fast enough to reliably parry and heavily punish. I only stopped taking it to expirement with other styles and if a boss was giving me trouble i would take that one into the fight. This is the one i took into oggdo boggdo, but the force parry made all the difference in that fight. I really like being able to respec freely in this game though, i definitely wouldnt have had any fun with the crossgaurd without the freedom to experiment. Anyway, interesting video, i like to hear other peoples experiences with the game!

Kinda strange how you didn't mention how the Blaster stance absolutely RIPS through enemy stamina when you fire shots in-between each lightsaber strike, even more than the double-bladed lightsaber can. I actually found it useful in numerous boss encounters for this very reason, taking advantage of staggering the boss or a spare moment where they're not attacking you could often drain the entire stamina bar, where you could then switch to something like dual-wield or crossguard to deal massive damage.

I found that with maxed blaster stance, the lightsaber itself did quite a lot of damage. People seem to forget that the blaster stance isn't entirely focused on the blaster it even has skills in its skill tree to buff the saber. In boss fights that get up close and personal, the saber can deal quite a lot of damage so much so I basically mained the blaster stance with just the saber since I git it

Pretty much my thoughts, having 100% Fallen Order and Survivor on Jedi GM, with Sekrio as one of my favorite games ever. The single blade stance is probably the best stance if I had to pick only one to play the game with, but a bit boring at first. I would make some minor adjustments, but its more or less the same as mine. Blaster stance is around low A tier for bosses, as with the perks and combo playstyle together outdamages crossguard in small windows vs bosses, and Dual Wield stance is probably B tier vs crowds for me, too easy to get overwhelmed if you try to time dodges and blocks to deal with groups, youre pretty much doomed to just run away and heard crowds into smaller pieces, which doesnt feel fun. Double bladed is the 2nd best overall stance after Single blade, but I found its animation miss against single targets too often, feeling like I got robbed of damage during combos because of hit-boxes not being optimized enough. Cross Guard is my favorite stance, but it can feel very sluggish vs groups, like you said. Overall all stances are good, but Single Blade and possibly Blaster with the right perks are the best if you had to pick only one. Double Blade and Crossguard are a step below that, and I just cant like Dual Wield at all.

Best to Worst: Single Dual Blaster Cross Double Correct me if im wrong but I've done 2 GM playthroughs and Double is rarely useful, hust as much commitment as Cross with 0 net positive on damage OR structure. Single is the most versatile abd has abilities or everything; air, gap closing, strong sweeps, overheads. Dual has animation cancelling which is life or death for parrying. Blaster is great for beast bosses especially and the quickdraw and point blank abilities are op asf once you master them.
@LegendaryGamingMods

The cross-guard stance is severely overlooked in this game. If you have decent spacing, timing, and patience cross-guard is literally OP against everything. If you really want to feel like a Jedi, mastering cross-guard stance in this game is a must. I have a hard time playing any other stance because I miss the precision and deadliness of the cross-guard stance and end up going back. With groups of smaller enemies using sundering swipe will clear massive groups of enemies quickly, especially when combined with force gather (where you pull everything in front of you). You can also pick off weaker enemies from a distance with the force throw as it deals a LOT of damage, and it can also be used to pre-break guard before going in for a finishing attack. This can be immensely helpful for picking off annoying ranged units while trying to take on multiple melee mobs. Pair this with Focused Sight for even more enemy-slaying goodness. You can also basically stun-lock single enemies with the run attack, rending strike, and force attack (cleave/cleaving swing), constantly either knocking them down for free damage or straight up breaking their guard in one or two swings and then dealing massive damage. On bosses it simply deals massive damage and is the easiest way to end a boss fight quickly assuming you're willing to put in the work to learn the patterns.

@@microsf121 Played on Grandmaster with dual wield as my primary and double-bladed as my secondary stance. Fought all the bosses as Cal with dual wield and only switched to double-bladed to deflect blaster shots. The advantage of dual wield is you can non-stop attack and then just parry when they attempt to attack you. This allows you to do things like trap Rayvis in a corner since he doesn't have enough time to properly recover. If played correctly (i.e. parrying while attacking and also using focused parry) this is a stance that should be in S-tier for boss fights and above the crossguard option. Focused parry basically just gives you free hits since it staggers them as if you had fully drained their stamina bar, and animation canceling makes it so that you don't ever need to stop attacking unless you need to dodge an unblockable.

For me: 5. Single: I like all stances, but compared to the other ones, it’s my least favourite. It’s a jack of all trades. But a master of none, in my eyes. I find that this one has the least impactful abilities in my eyes. 4. Dual wield: Really nice and fast. Cancelling your attack is great. It’s great for bosses. Good for other enemies. I prefer the stances higher up though. I defeated the Rancor with this one. 3. Crossguard: What a powerhouse. A boss fight king. I always equipped this with a boss fight, after I got it. Not amazing with group encounters though. But its one on one prowess carries it to the middle of the pack. This is probably one of the best stances without any upgrades. The cheap combo of attacking and using triangle when the enemy is exposed it lethal. 2. Double blade: Great. Probably me favourite for crowd control. This and the now obvious number one are the ones I tend to equip when free roaming. And it’s really solid in duels too. Just hold square and the attack are focused on one single target. And I once annihilated a room with the charged saber throw, which was awesome. 1. Blaster: Superb. Great for crowd control. Great for duels. It’s the Jack of all trades but with greater benefits than the single blade. You can apply pressure from range and the different charged shots are useful. I tend to stick to the standard charged shot, or sometimes ricochet. One of the reasons I like this stance a lot is the lunge attack you do whilst holding square. It costs no force and it’s so damn effective at everything. I cheesed through the spawn of Oggdo by doing charged shot, lunge, charged shot, lunge, until it died. I cannot stress enough how great that single move actually is.

With blaster stance, you can actually charge the shot while you swing your lightsaber, making this stance incredible for DPS against bosses, since you can also shoot in between swings. Charge your shot while swinging, fire, and keep swinging. The shot takes maybe a second before you're able to swing again. The quick draw is very good at damaging melee enemies as they close the distance. Who needs saber parries when the point blank skill exists? It works on unblockable attacks as well, and it can also be performed with a charged shot. This is my favorite stance. It's easy to start using, but has a high skill ceiling.

With the dual sabers you can hit lightsaber bosses until their block meter is half gone, then when they go for the light attack (which they will try 2 or 3 times)you can parry the attacks which breaks their block meter and you can get a lot of hits in before they regen or roll away.

I used crossguard and blaster the whole game, and would used dual stance instead of crossguard for boss fight that were saber heavy or the rancor/ ogdo x2 fights so I could punish with the extra saber throw with the perk on saber throw damage, except for the final boss fight I used crossguard to punish blaster shots and the blaster to punish the saber swipes. I found always having blasted was super useful so that I had blaster charge or force to use as resource, and would always use blaster on the defensive so I could charge up force power and blaster energy for maximum reward when successfully parrying, then would have the swap stance boost and switch to the crossguard for the bonus damage

Appreciate your videos. I just beat the game today and had to immediately start new game + for that beautiful red saber. In terms of how I played it was blaster and dual for 75% of the game if not more. I took my time and was able to upgrade all my force powers and all abilities before I branched out. Dual is insane crowd control if you just force pull them down and have perks for quick regeneration. Blaster was my go to for lots of bosses as hit and run to wear them down and the pesky jet packs. Crossguard was not good for me starting. I’ve took a step back and just messed around with weaker units and found my groove on how to beat effectively slaughter everyone. So much fun but like you said, it’s slow speed can have you surrounded and running for your life ending to switch to something else. It’s the most of the stances once upgraded along with using their abilities in a calculated manner are super efficient and fun. Dual was not just okay until I upgraded. Might be my best now in combo with the cross guard. The perk and throwing light sabers at groups and just wearing enemies down and bringing out the crossguard to hammer them together is nasty. I love all the styles so very much. Last one to play was single. I find myself just not getting the damage or elite functionality of others for my style and is just okay for me. Im definitely still learning how to best implement it which will probably have me enjoy it just as much. Still, just feels so meh after the power of my double saber and blaster. If I need to win I go with that hands down. The abilities are so effective and fun. Honestly at times I was melting bosses so fast on the first try I had to check and make sure i was on the correct difficulty lol. Only time I tired difficulty Dow. Was for the frog dumb frog thing in the droid base. 3-4 times getting him down to 15-25% health and him eating me the second I depleted my stamina/ force abilities. I just wanted to Poncho to make Cal happy 😂 Really hope a new order of night witches and Jedi becomes a new school in the shows to eventually make a big move. Asoka and mandalorians are Theo same time period. Truly hope you can either recruit or ally with both for certain worlds or events. Maybe recruit them and gain strongholds on fringe worlds by talking bases and strategic points to eventually claim the planet as your own effecting the world as a whole. If you neglect their requests or just have the empire some counter strikes to retake if you’re gone for long periods. Battlefront (old originals) had the planetary mode that allowed huge battles to either control via win and push deeper, or lose and have to fall back to safety and reform ranks. The game is damn near perfect for me (RD2, GOW, Uncharted) styles, but I really would love to have the planetary control aspect; wear a hood or masks (wearing all black with bright red hair just is better in that man in black sleek look. Also having key decisions like Mass effect that have chain reaction reactions to that world or the overall galaxy would be amazing. Even just the embrace the dark was great. The third final game would be so good allowing your decisions to make you good or bad, maybe middle of the road. Choose dark side and dominate with that power but fall out of favor with certain groups while light side comes a more harmonious environment with more Allies , but lacks the pure power and cool dark side force powers. Change character’s appearance if you keep going darker over time.

My combo was Dual and Cross Guard. Dual is better than the double blade for crowd control and allows you to get close quick hits in and medium range with the throws. It also ricochets bullets like the blaster stance, which I found to be kind of annoying. The Cross Guard is a BEAST! Honestly, if you learn to time it right it still does good crowd control with the sweeping strike and kills enemies so quickly that you can thin out the herd easily. The reflection also does crazy damage as well. The only reason I don't use the single blade is because of late game super ability, which basically lets you have it as a third stance you can use regularly.

I REALLY love the crossguard stance. Just demolishing a B1 Droid or Stormtrooper with a fully charged swing, or just annihilating a small group with Sundering Swipe is amazing. But even I can admit it's really finicky to use. Since it's so slow, if someone just coughs on you a lil funny your entire swing gets canceled. And for some reason Cal does a dropkick with his Sprint Attack, meaning you can get melee'd right at the peak of the drop and you get screwed over. And the damage isn't even that good. But that's why I have Crossguard and Blaster on at all times, it covers my two most important bases, Damage, and Range. Occasionally i'll switch to Dual and Blaster just to go around mowing down anyone that just looks at me funny at the speed of sound. But nothing tops Single, it's just the best outright. Good damage, good speed, good range, good everything. You can't go wrong with it.

I like the blaster stance because of its feel and utility. It’s the most realistic fighting stance when compared to historical European martial arts, plus you get free damage with the blaster in between exchanges

In boss battles I used the blaster to deplete their block meter and deal damage with cross guard but it works with the block damage perk

I only like blaster stance for the lightsaber movements. The thrust/jab, and then the precise cuts, I really enjoy it and it reminds me a little of count dooku in a way. I don’t really use the blaster at all. I wish there was a way to change cals lightsaber style. Like the perk system to make him have more precise attacks like dooku, more powerful attacks like Vader/anakin, or defensive style like obi wan. But I love this game so much and can’t get enough

I like all the forms but I’m best with dual wield. It’s the only one you can be mid attack in and switch to parry as soon as your opponent attacks. The cross guard is better than it’s given credit for, you just have to take all combat a little slower, although I will admit there’s a limit to that. Personal favorite is dual wield for efficiency, and favorite is cross guard for no other reason than it’s fun to mow down bosses and smaller grunts.

I got the game 5 days ago. I just got off shattered moon after meeting up with Cere. I'm gonna try blaster. But my go to up until than was single and double blades.
