We, in the studio have become obsessed with compressors. I remember reading an article that was written by a famous mixing engineer and he said, in the old days, you didnt worry about what type of compressor you had, you just used what was available, didn't matter, 1176 or a radio shack compressor, you just used it. He said that the biggest worry that the engineer had in those days was getting through the sessions without the tape machine breaking down and not what type of compressor you were using..
Hello Reid. I'm Dennis Sanders. I figured since we both have the same initial of our last names we could be best friends? I've been playing the piano for over 30 years, have been producing instrumentals, writing and recording songs for 20 years! I've been basically doing the job of 10 different people all by myself! Because of this, it's been incredibly difficult for me to *MASTER* things like mixing! I've had to spend so much time writing, recording, pushing my own music etc. to where I've been unable to get as good at mixing my beats/vocals as much as I've advanced throughout the years when it comes to writing music, recording vocals. Out of everything I've learned to do myself over the years, I'd definitely say that writing & recording vocals is probably what I'm best at. Actually.. I'm 100% sure that's what I'm best at! But because of being poor, rather than pay for someone that ACTUALLY knows how to mix properly, I've always relied on doing it all myself, and that's exactly why my career has suffered! I know many of us feel that way! I've been very intrigued with how much knowledge you have when it comes to mixing! I'm confident that if I never decided to write, rap, sing, promote my music etc. that I'd probably be on your level when it comes to mixing. This isn't me knocking you either! You're extremely talented and even when you fuck around with rapping as a puppet, you *STILL* have that *IT* factor! I wish I would have met someone like you during my long journey of making music! Doubt you'll answer this comment (or even see it for that matter!) but if you do.. what would you say you're best at when it comes to the entire process of making music? I imagine you probably get paid to mix other peoples projects? I also noticed you even have a store setup where you charge people to learn how to properly use AutoTune and all of it's intricacies! I've been looking for an in depth master tutorial of AutoTune for years! I'm going to pay the money to take your class in the very near future! Again.. sorry if my comment came across as a bit creepy! I'm just trying to do the opposite of 99% of comments left on RU-vid, and give you major props and provide a little backdrop as to who I am, why I'm here, and why I appreciate YOU and your RU-vid channel! Much Love! 💯
Pls pls pls do a video on how to get the weeknd vocal sound using waves plugins. I know there are lot of guys on RU-vid doing it but I trust yours gonna be wayyy better
Hey man I was wondering how I could get a less wall of sound approach to music. The example I have would be griselda records type beats. To me it sounds like they work alot more with background silence as opposed to pop records. Correct me if I'm wrong though as I'm no pro.
That would be a music production, instrumentation, song arrangement, and overall music genre choice. Silence isn’t something you often add when you’re mixing
demonstrating on these expensive compressors but these compressors visually are not so helpful to learn. people might struggle to get the idea unless they already are a pro. still thanks
