Die hard Bruins fan here, but I must to confess that I got into hockey for Oilers and have a special affection for them. McDavid has kept this feeling alive. What a monster! Thank you, McDavid! P.S.: we need a "McDavid demolishing every single NHL team for one hour straight" video, and he deserves a Stanley Cup.
I'm born and raised in Edmonton, life long oil fan but gonna have to disagree, no one deserves their name on the cup until the job is done. If anyone can carry a team all the way though it's gotta be McDavid
The NHL is gonna have to put together a Top 50 McDavid Plays just from this season at the end of year. Excited to see what he does in the playoffs this year.
One season and more highlight goals than superstar careers in the NHL. Amazing. If he goes and gets the Cup he will be immortal as one of the greatest.
70 would be nice, even 69 but I'm happy as long as he gets 66 and pass Ovi 65 to tie at the very least but 64 I would feel truly disappointed. However 4 goals in 10 games is very unlikely at this point with the season and motivation he's having right now to finish strong. He could go 7 games without scoring all he needs is 2 games with 2 goals each and 1x with 1
We are watching the absolute pinacle of this generation of hockey and the scariest thing is that this might not even be his peak. The guy is only 26 years old! We thought he peaked in the all canadian division a couple years ago but this year has blown our already lofty expectations of him out of the water. Who's to say that he won't be EVEN BETTER next year?
@@LETZGONHLdraft That's my point though. After every season we keep saying that there is no way he can get better, but each season he just keeps improving. It's insane to think that he can improve on a season this good but he's an insane player.
@@LETZGONHLdraft Are you missing a comma in there? Are you say there's no way he'll have a better season? Or no way, he'll have a better season next year? At any rate, I think there's a really good chance he'll beat this season next year. He's got 1-2 more peak years before he tapers off a bit.
@@raininggiraffes7087 he wont. here are his numbers compared from his 2020-21 season to his 2022-23 season and to his career numbers: 2020-21 = 16.5 Total Shooting Percentage 16.4 Wrist Shot Shooting Percentage 8.3 Goals Above Expected 2022-23 = 19.1 Total Shooting Percentage 24.1 Wrist Shot Shooting Percentage 18.4 Goals Above Expected Career = 15.7 Total Shooting Percentage 16.8 Wrist Shot Shooting Percentage 7.75 Goals Above Expected projected over 82 games
im verry lucky to have seen a player like that in my life. I saw lafleur, Gretzky, Lemieux, Yzerman, sackic, Jagr, selane, Bure, Lindros, ovenchkin, Crosby, and now McDavid and I can tell you he is the best player dominated the game, on his time. Not to disrepect the previous one or the same generation as him. But yes, Mc David is a GOAT. just missing a Stanley Cup.
That's a great start for the list of greatness, so I'll briefly add two more players that had me in disbelief of what can be done in the game... Forsberg, Datsyuk.
McDavid is impressive. Powerful wrist throw. Very fast handling of the stick, changes its direction almost instantly. He dribbles past defenders well. The perfect hockey player. Maybe he can also go to Gretzky’s record like Alexander Ovechkin. True, it will be difficult: 27 years and only 300+ goals. But maybe if it accelerates.
There aren’t enough superlatives in the English language for his talent. He is the greatest scorer OF GOALS in the history of the game. I’m a self-proclaimed fan boy of #99, but this kid is different. These goals are filthy, nasty and beautiful all at the same time. And his speed…..
Even though I’m a Calgary flames fan I got the chance to see the oilers vs coyotes, the 60th goal. Mcdavid, Draisaitl, and nuggent are really good players but Mcdavid is far better. Hope his carreer goes well
People often ask if McDavid needs to win a Cup in order to be considered the GOAT. Chopin never wrote an opera, but he's still one of the most important composers in music history (in that period, writing an opera was mandatory to be remembered as a great composer). What makes Chopin so important in music is his exceptional contribution and innovation to the piano repertoire and approach. After him, no one would write or play piano like we used to. That's exactly what's happening with Connor McDavid in hockey. True genius doesn't need an award to be remembered and acknowledged. McDavid has already achieved what no other player achieved before him : play the game with an unprecedented speed, intensity, wit, leadership and intelligence. He makes hockey more beautiful to watch than ever, making non-hockey people watch the game more closely. Winning the Cup will be so well-deserved for McDavid. Nevertheless, the Cup will simply be the topping on the ice cream -- a topping that will reiterate his already more-than-obvious GOAT status.
This man is outstanding I wish the devil's had him but the combo of him and Leon is lovely they gotta build around them otherwise you'll be wasting their prime talents
@@D...M...A... 99 is the best due to his accomplishments statistically and as a leader winning 4 cups, but in terms of pure talent McDavid is better in every way. Skating, shooting, passing, even physically McDavid is superior
As a flames fan I hate him. As a hockey fan it’s a privilege to watch him. When the flames are done I’ll be watching the oilers throughout the playoffs just to watch him.
Penguins fan since I was a kid. Have seen Mario, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin so I have really witnessed pure exellence. McDavid is already up there. This guy is insane. Oilers so lucky to have this guy. Blows my mind how good of a hockey player he really is.
It's insane to think both the oilers and the penguins have had 4 of the greatest generational talents in history. Gretzky and mcdavid, lemiuex and Crosby, even throw in Jagre and kuri
@@stentorofsparta3576 found you again. haven’t seen you in a bit. you take a break from trolling and sounding like a complete braindead? and here i thought you were the level headed one…. guess not. touch grass 😭🤡🤣💀
People keep saying this. This is false. Scoring is higher today. Right now than 95-96. Today it's 3.19. in 95-96 it was 3.14. So no it wasn't easier. Lemieux did it in less games because he was as hard as it is to believe a better goal scorer.
@Starbucksguitar Again not entirely true. I watched it back then. Did you? They have access to better training, yes. Are they slightly faster, yes. But back then there was alot more allowed to interfere with a player. It evens out
@@stentorofsparta3576 how is the western conference irrelevant the recent champs are from the west,in fact I bet a western team is winning the Stanley cup just because of how tough the east is.
Nothing compared to Mattews Magnificent 51 goals in 50 games last season. Mcdavid is good goal scorer but Magnificent is generational talent and the main reason why the Leafs are the heavy favorite to win the cup every year.
