Gang Beasts, Virtua Racing, Crashnauts, Super Mario Strikers: Battle League. But I understand these games came out after you made this video. Thank you for this awesome video.
I love games with more than 2 player multiplayer & had my 4 way controller back in the day for the PS1, but I'm 48 now so the only time I'm with 7 other ppl is at funerals 😅 - great video my friend 🙂 ✌️ 👌 👍
Thank you for creating this! I will save your video to look back on when I have a future 8 player session! Also wanted to mention that Sega Ages Virtua Racing supports 8 players (just make sure the tv is big enough to be split into eight separate screens haha).
I’m glad there are Switch games out there that allow groups of more than 4 players to play at once. It’s one of the reasons that make the Nintendo Switch stand out amongst its competitors.
Thanks! Many that I hadn't heard before. It's shockingly difficult to find which games in the nintendo store support more than 4 (and whether it's local or online play). I did notice you missed Octafight though. I haven't picked it up yet but it does support 8 local players. Cheers!
How can you miss Virtua Racing on this list? 8 Player Split Screen is an absolute riot!!! There's also an 8 player Pengo multiplayer game, but it was Japanese only (and also only physical).
Ok....so excuse my ignorance but "on 8 joy cons" translates to having 4 Nintendo Switches, right? Or can you buy extra joy cons to add to one Switch console? Do I need 4 copies of the each game if they are all in the same room? Trying to figure out the specs for a library gaming program and I only personally own a xbox. Help!
@@obscuristgaming So, to clarify, I can buy 1 Nintendo Switch console (that comes with 2 joy cons), 1 copy of each of these games, and 4-10 more joy cons and play these games? (I'm so sorry I look so dumb right now haha)
@@obscuristgaming it’s kind of a racing game with weapons, where you need to find the shortest path to win. I like it because it’s, easy to learn but hard to master.
ASTRO DUEL is missing (since you included 6player also) :) would you make also 8 player 2 nintendo switch consoles (4 players each) local multiplayer? :)
Yeah once you get down to 6 players, the list starts to expand like crazy too, but just wanted to highlight a couple of my favorites there! I’ll definitely check out Astro Duel! Thanks for sharing! And I’ll look into it for sure, if there’s enough interest- the research on it becomes somewhat of a gargantuan task.
Thanks for this list! Gonna take a look at a few of these. I think the biggest and funnest 8 player game not on this list is Gang Beast. Smash Bros meets King of the Hill!
@@kyle2375 Your reply prompted me to go try again and seems it’s no longer possible to do 8 as we had before. We have never played gang beast online. But we have played 6-8 players locally many times about a year ago when the original post was made. You can still play 6 locally, but 5/6 must be controllers (not joycons). When I try to join as # 7 with a controller, it removes one. So I’d say this is a 6 player game locally. What a disappointment. The game is still a blast, but we originally purchased the game only because it was 8 players local.
@@obscuristgaming Reallly? Wich games?? Smash Bros is ok connection wise so wireless is enough! But does MK8DX support it? I hope MP4 also supports it but i gues MP4s MP will!
@@obscuristgaming Thanks alot! I thought it was only possible with PS3, Xbox 360 and the originial Xbox! So i buy the lan adapter, put it in the back USB port in the dock, and connect it via Lan cable to the lan hub and off we go?? If this is really true... PRAY FOR METROID PRIME 4 MULTIPLAYER!!!
