I love these giant machines so much, so horrific and dystopian yet amazing. Also, using American measurements on a piece of German engineering is... Questionable.
the part when it says "million cubic feet of earth" got me 💀 also, it's funny how American measurements of weight uses tonnes instead of million pounds
Just to scare this random person on the internet more here are a few not so fun facts about it! The world record belongs for largest/tallest terrestrial vehicle belongs to the Bagger 293 shared with the Bagger 288. It weights a whopping 14,200 tons! Speaking of the last fact! It's so heavy that whenever it has to cross roads to get to other coal mines, the roads have to be rebuilt because it crushes them. It goes at a WHOPPING top speed of... one... kilometer per hour... It has to be connected to a MOBILE POWER GRID just to have enough energy to move! This monstrosity requires 16.56 megawatts to function! That's the equvilant of 613,333,33 AA batteries! This, THE BIGGEST LAND VEHICLE in the WORLD is FULLY ELETRIC! Five people have to operate this thing while it's being used. Some personell will have to run 10 kilometers in a shift, because it's so goddam long. It's 315 feet tall, or 22 stories, that's taller than the Flatrion building in NYC! This excavator's wheel has 18 buckets, each of these buckets are capable of holding 1452 gallons! That's the equivalent of 80 bathtubs! That's 35 barrels worth! Or 6 Tuns! While collecting coal, it has a conveyer belt that runs from the front with the wheel all the way to the back, where it has to be attached to a building to put all of the coal in! One worker said It looked like a mobile city! Well it looks like I'm out of facts! I hope atleast one of these made someone uncomfortable!* *'Kidding, I love all yall.
You leave it at the worksite. It destroys the roads it moves over so taking this to work like a car is a nightmare. Plus, who's gonna steal this thing? It's not like you can steak it without making a sound.
