I was crying about this to my husband the other day. I want to stop doing this, but I just cannot seem to help it. And because of it, my jaw hurts all the time, and now my ear sinus cavity is beginning to get affected by it. I have very nice teeth, but I just cannot help but keep them clenched tight all day long, when I'm lost in thought. I basically have to meditate, constantly throughout the day, to keep from doing it.
@@RiverSprite30 oh my gosh I didn't know anyone who suffered from this as well, all day I catch myself doing, I wake up with awful headaches. I try and try but I just keep clenching my jaw non stop I'm not sure I can stop, I've tried to train myself not to but it's so subconscious and constant.
do you feel a pressure in any of your teeth after waking up? for me I feel a lot of pressure in my back molar and was wondering if it is similar for you?
i’m noticing that a lot of ppl probably haven’t heard of getting botox injections in the masseter muscles? if you haven’t please look it up! it relaxes your chewing muscles & significantly reduces bruxism. it literally changed my life 😭
this is very informative, thank you. me waking up with ear pain finally make sense! i just figured out I've been grinding my teeth while sleeping via cctv in my room. damn
apparently, my dentist said that even small stresses or lashing out for a second can cause a long term bruxism. I tend to get frustrated and lash out even if it's just for a second. I guess I'mma have to work on that now. Thanks Dentalk. Also, I'm going to get a hard mouthguard or splint. Hopefully it'll help with the clenching. Sometimes your sleep position can also cause jaw clenching or grinding. My fiance grinds his teeth only when he's on his back because he starts snoring. I personally clench, and usually do when my mouth is too open or if my head is too elevated.
Thank you so much for this helpful video! I suffer from night bruxism, it took me years and years to notice it. I clench teeth , especially on the back molars. A night guard probably wouldn't solve the problem, since there would still be pressure on the jaw... and to be honest , as a pharmacist, I'm afraid of taking relaxing treatment before sleeping. 😅 I'm not someone particularly stressed out, and my younger brother also suffers from night bruxism, so there might be a genetic cause... What could I do to treat my night bruxism ?
it's hard to treat when you just try to fix the surface level problem. the root cause of all the tension and grinding, is anxiety and stress, repressed emotions and trauma in the body. if you are looking for real permanent change then I can recommend looking into trauma healing, inner child work. things that can allow you to let out the repressed emotions and traumas from childhood.
I'm 33 yrs old and the other night i woke up with toothache and suddenly remembered my sister told me that she can hear me grinding my teeth while asleep. It's so annoying I think a lot of my teeth and gums are getting damaged due to this. I will try mouth guard I hope it will help.
@@powerband5235 I visited my dentist and he was also able to confirm that I do grind my teeth upon checking. He suggested that I get dental split. I have not done that yet but I also got a cheap mouth guard from an online store. I was afraid that it would affect my sleep but luckily it didn't. I still plan to get dental splint though.
@@machi-full-of-coffeewhat's a dental split? I grind my teeth at night and now my teeth have loosen and my gums are receding away from the teeth starts exposing more and more teeth, my jaw bone hurts every morning.
I end up pressing my lower lip or directly pressing my teeth ... it's really giving serious irritation especially when I am stressed or deep thinking...I don't understand why!!
I'm pretty sure I have bruxism and my dentist told me I should fix my teeth with braces before I try to get mouth guards. Unfortunately I don't have 2.300 euros.
My father is doing grinding while awake all the time and we don’t know what to do because we cannot move him to a hospital and the sound is too loud plz help
I have had a lot of pressure in my very back molar and sometimes it is worse some days. I think I am clenching my teeth when I am sleeping and wake up with pressure in that back molar and was wondering if the pressure feeling is normal for this? I always hear about the jaw pain which I sometimes get but it is mainly the pressure in my tooth.
What are your thoughts on tmj therapy, specifically orthotics? I'm debating whether or not I should pay all of that money for something that might not work; or worse, be detrimental to my current bite. Thank you!
I just bought me 2 night guards. But idk if I'm doing it right. It molded to my teeth. But when I take them off in morning my teeth hurt. I grind my teeth anytime of the day too
For the last 10 days I have awake bruxism.. can go away for 2 to 3 days.. but still comes.. also I have chest pace . Is it a possible heart diseases . I feel chest heaviness and acidity ..
Very good video thank you, May I ask could TMJ surgery in severe cases CAUSE tinnitus as a potential consequence. My TMJ is mild but I get worried incase I need surgery and get this as a result. I already have mild tinnitus and don't wanna make it worse
I have a question I have developed a small open bite after braces I also created a habit of clenching my jaw it is so painful. It's been a year with struggles and pain. I have a question a dentist made a scan of my teeth for a night guard to help with the clenching can a night guard make my open bite worse? I scared that it will and my teeth contact is gone and I really don't want to get surgery. Thank you for your time !!!
Thank you! I thought what I was going through had no name and that this was going to be my life from now. 3 months ago I had my wisdom teeth removed and all of a sudden I start feeling unexplainable pain in my teeth and discomfort in my bite these were things I had never felt, eventually my dentist started shaving bits of my teeth to adjust my bite but it only made my bite uneven and still did not stop the teeth pain and discomfort if this is what I have I pray that I can receive treatment and have relief.
