Thank you so much for making this, that is tech explained well/quickly/efficiently! 100+! I know it's an older video, I just got my first piece of el wire to experiment with. SUBSCRIBED! thank you again
this youtube channel is making my week. I've been sitting on these costume pieces for months to attach EL and LED strips and these videos are walking me through it all.... Thank you so much Adatruit....
Hello, Im from Cordoba Argentina and would like to know if this EL Wire kit comes with more bright light, I know is brighter, but I need more power of luminescence, maybe is not the el wire the soft bright, maybe is the circuit using only 2 AA batteries? Thank you. for the asap reply.
I tried using EL wire around my guitar for a run of Christmas gigs. Unfortunately the inverter created tons of noise that was picked up by the guitar. Are your inverters better? It looked awesome but was unusable, i would like to try again.
It's not a function of "better"-- all inverters make noise. You can dampen it with hot glue or foam tape but never eliminate it completely. Maybe try putting the inverter in your pocket or on the neck of the guitar so it won't resonate so much?
The amp in an electric guitar may even pick up the electromagnetic signal from the el-wire. I guess they are basically long antennae emitting a (low powered) signal at the frequency of the inverter.

i'm trying to put el wire in my ski poles without a big battery pack. an in-line double a battery would be ideal to fit it inside the ski pole. I havent been able to find these. does anyone know whats the smallest battery you can use to fit in a 1" diameter pole.. i need some advice or links.. can only find big battery packs
Either I did catch it in the video or it wasn't mentioned, but let's say I wanted to make various shapes from the EL panel. Some might need multiple panels connected together and some might need 1 cut in a smaller shape.. My question is what do we do with the exposed cuts? (that's the most thing holding me back). What I'm trying to make is a cosplay prop (a sword to be frank) and put on the blade the EL panel (or tape) in a way that when I press the hilt I will be able to get the sword to glow (as a display of special skill being used). My blades (yeah there is 2 swords) are almost 50cm long and 8cm wide (approx) and they have various shapes.

Hey guys I was wondering if you can help im looking at using his inside my computer now I have seen them connected to the power supply of the computer how woukd I do this woukd inveryer would I need please your my last hope to do this
Video should be titled "Soldering EL Wire" instead of "All About Electroluminescent Materials". The video content had very little to do with the title.
Fair warning to potential buyers. The so called "Red" EL wire they sell is actually orange. When you get the red EL wire and compare it to the online pictures, the Red EL wire you just got matches the picture of their Orange EL wire. They won't even try to make it right and just ask that you return it. They said "El wire can vary across production so the color is not always the same as it appears on the site". Which I understand but the difference is just too much for a project where you want to match colors.
Folks, think outside the box. Wearables is about non-standard thinking. I would have come up with a mechanical way to connect the two wires and then soldered them. But the shrink tubing is a mechanical connection.
Is it enough bright that it could be seen from at least 50 meters away? I'm on a motorcycle custom project. Then I want to know if this would be ok to install this type of EL wire in the headlights. The biker must be seen from front with just the EL wire turned on.
What happens when you over volt the battery pack?Like if the bat pack is made for 1.5 v aa,but you use 3 v uktrafire bats what happens? Will the el wire explode fuse or will it be fine?
How do you actually put it on the shoes? You need an inverter isn't it? Which means you're carrying inverters for the amount of EL item you're wearing. Who carries inverter with them all around? Do you have certain designs to hide them? Eg, where do you place the inverter for the shoe?
oh, I didn't know an inverter can be that small. What about the batteries? how many volt is it required to power up and how long will it last? Is there a on/off switch? or is it all the way on for the shoe?
+Kyle W i assume a computer power supply outputs AC? and it gets converted to DC in the peripherals but i could be wrong , either way that an important factor after that you could make some circuit to step down the voltage needed for these things
How bright is the el wire? I've an idea with a 4"x6" acrylic block with a design lasered inside, and wondering if it would be bright enough in a regular room?
