SIR since there is no promotional aspect to the post of ETO (atleast on a heirarchial basis) , so have you ever considered the possibility of switching to the marine engineering department and climbing the ladder up, to post of chief engineer. What are your thoughts on this matter and can you please explain the process involved for an ETO to switch to a 4th engineer.

Hi Adi, good thing to ask. Well i will talk in short about this. 1. There are 03 promotions in this post ( Trainee, Junior or Assistant and Full ETO ). 99% people are happy with these 03 2. Since we are from electrical or electronics background, so there is no point of thinking about being a 4th engineer and start the journey again. Because afterall basics should be mechanical too. 3. I am in this field from 04 years and i have not met with anyone who wants to be a marine engineer after an ETO I hope this info will help you making up your mind.

Yes it is possible, but for that you need to do courses outside of india like U.K and restart your journey.

Well Sci is very good for startup and learning. Placement in sci is 100 prcnt for its own candidates, but sci take people from outside depending on vacancy.

Hi abdul, well in india If you have completed your diploma in electrical after that you can apply for Eto course of 4 months, then you can join as an electrical officer.

Hello Brother, I am from Bangladesh. I have a question, In Merchant Ship, there is no Junior ETO Post. I heared that, After successfully completion of class 3 coc, they promoted to ETO. So, if there is no Jr ETO post, how do a fresher eto join to ship? If Somehow manage their first voyage, how do they manage all electrical machineries? Cause they are fresher.

Hi shakil, thank you for watching videos brother. No its not like that, when we join ship for the first time we join as trainees for 8-10 months. After that we sail again as junior Eto until we didnt clear Eto coc exam.

Yes zayn you can go for an Eto course, only thing is you have to check whether the college you have applied for is accepting application with diploma also or not. I had 2 batchmates who had done diploma and they are electrical officers onboard ships.

Hi ojas, well for Eto it is required that you should pass PCM with atleast 60% followed by either b.tech in (EEE/ECE) or a diploma in the same.

In some ways, yes he can become. But its a bit long process. If you are really determined to become you can follow Uk class 4 line.

yes they are eligible, but only condition is when you are going to join the eto course just ask the institute whether they allow diploma candidates or not ! Because sometimes they ask for a certain amount of experience in shore.

I don't have any idea about that. Usually they take interviews offline but due to covid may be they will take online. Please check with respective institutes
