US Army here, my drill sgt. measured my m40 size by staring at me for a few seconds and then telling me not to move as he slaps one on me and covers the filter with his hand on my exhale. "Can you breathe private?" * aggressively shaking 'no' * "You're moving too much private. Can you breathe?" * pained pvt noises * "You can talk with it on private." "NO DRILL SERGEANT!"
You’re literally my go to 3:00am RU-vid “can’t sleep” channel hahaha please keep up the great content it’s so cool how knowledgeable you are on this! You gotta be THE guy when it comes to this! 😂
17k+ nice to see your channel is growing at a steady pace. Keep it up but remember that a part-time additional paying job could be a better option for you whilst your channel & your patreon isn't bringing in enough money to exceed your material fees as hopefully the long term goal is to keep the channel sustainable! Good luck, your obviously going in the right direction :-)
Regarding the improved versions Y/Upgraded ones is actually improvement in both ways, as you said, cheaper to make, but using a bit of thin rubber actually makes it easier for the users to pull off and put on the gas mask since the rubber isn't as stale or rigid as when you use thick rubber. However I still compare the thick and thin versions, some people name that the thin versions break more easier and that the thick versions can easier become stale or rigid if not cared for making them break more easier. Will come back with more information about that later. I also wonder about this site(soviet power) which sells both gas masks and extra filters. They talk about their filters being safe and no asbestos in them as they are post cold war filters but also later batches. created without asbestos. But how can one be sure? I have seen your warning videos, but they do apply to the old filters. (I am thinking that it would be a waste to get rid of perfectly safe filters that works.) The majority of the "safe to use" talks about as if asbestos is okay in smaller doses as it exists in most kitchen wares we use today and in higher dosages than the filters them self. (The later filters contain less than or 1% of it). I am more skeptical, but balance between safe and non safe as of now. I decided to send them questions and will be waiting for more feedback. Also sent some to test. Great videos as always, keep up the good work!
I think lots of sites selling Russian filters that claim them to be safe are just being selfish and trying to make money regardless of potential danger to customers. So far every Soviet filter test has come back as asbestos positive, if they claim their filters are safe they will be able to provide lab reports with negative results. However I very much doubt they will present these reports.
Indeed. My first thoughts also. I believe what you mentioned before is the way to go. Some good new and approved filters. Do you happen to have any list for approved and safe 40mm filters and know if there are any safe filters for the PBF out there?
Every modern NATO filter is perfectly safe, as 40mm NATO are made to a good standard. Same goes for Industrial filters from developed nations, I would avoid filter made in China or the Soviet Union due to asbestos use. Modern Russian filters are meant to be safe though, and no as far as I'm aware, all PBF EO-19 filters are the same.
Great informative vid.......... Just wanted to point out that Celtic is pronounced Keltic not seltic. Seltic is the pronunciation for the Scottish football team only.
@@Hadrian9707 I have a large head (61cm circumference) and the M 65 in size 2 (M) fits me very well. The M2000 (replacement of the M65) i have also has size M.
@@Hadrian9707 forehead to back of the head. In the Bundeswehr nearly everyone gets issued size M and only if your head is very large or very small you get size S or L, so I would recommend going with M to ensure it seals properly.
Question, I ordered a size 3y gp-5 thinking it was the right fit for me (this was based on the measurements the seller used. Also my head from back to chin is about 27.25 inches) but I noticed some things, such as the ear indents seeming further up the mask than my ears actually were, and my eyes seemed higher up in the lenses when I looked in a mirror; do you think I should go up to the next size? Also would the mask fit better if I shaved my hair (I'd say it's about medium length)? One more thing: Do all soviet helmet masks use the same or similar head measurements for the size?
Quick question, I measured my head and got 26cm exactly so I was wondering if I should get a size 1 and hope it fits and if it doesn't then use a mannequin head to stretch it out a bit or if I should get a size 2 and hope my head fits in it.
Weaponsandstuff93 My bad meant to say 26in not 26cm but I measured a bit more and got that I'm either a bit more than 26 or it exact. So should I go with a 1 or 2?
Weaponsandstuff93 I think he meant inches, not centimeters. I think that you'd be alright in doing so. If it doesn't fit, you can try to exchange or return it.
I've also got a 26in head, I got a medium but I think it'd sized wrong as it doesn't go. Far enough past my ears and doesn't seal well, can I stretch it?
@@Weaponsandstuff93 I measured my head and size 3 is the best for me. However when I got my TF-1, it's a size 4. Strangely, it's still kind of small for me.

Weaponsandstuff93 👍 Thanks, I am a prospective chemist and student worker in my department. I want to get one half as a joke, but also to complement my guns and other equipment. Which is kinda useless if I am dead. And with the state of America right now, well you get it.
Hiya I’m wanting to buy a Forsheda F2 A4 gas mask but I cant find a size Guide anywhere. My heads from chin to back of my head 70cm. From side measure bottom of chin to top of head 25cm. From round the top of my head like a Rambo bandana 58cm. Any idea what size I am.?
I would like to order a MSA Millennium gaz mask, could you give me some advises which size should i take ? there is no guide sizing on the internet for this model and there is no dealers in my country (France) where i could try it. This model is available in S, M and L.
My giant noggin can't fit in anything but size 4 soviet. Size 3 squishes my lower jaw toghether and pulls out my hair which is really annoying because all the SHMS masks I've seen are size 3 or smaller.
For some reason I'm a size medium for a 3m 7800S , but a small in the 3m 6000 full face series, I tbough that maybe the 3m full face sizes were the same fit across their entire like of full face masks, but apparently not.
the size charts are odd on sellers page, i have a large head (7 3/4 in fitted hats) and according to the chart they have, says i need an extra small which i dont believe.
Makes sense, I'm Polish, Russian, French, German and Scottish American, Soviet masks fit well while I find southern European masks and Asian masks fit me worse
@@Weaponsandstuff93 Can the M40A1 be modded for more nose real estate? Or should the slight nose discomfort/restriction be tolerated. I fit it fine otherwise.
if im a size 2 in avon masks but i can only find a size 3 or a size 1 of the mask i want. ive had a size 3 and it was uncomfortably small, would a size 1 be sufficient if i tightened the straps?
Where is a good place to buy one that’s real and comes with mask, bag & filter ( I won’t use the filter it will be just a prop ) thanks @weaponsandstuff93
Probably beating a dead horse, but what are the things that you need to look for in a GOST filter? Any keywords, places to look? On ebay I could only find 1 seller and that was with 2 different ABEKPD and A1P3 codes so where do I find explanations for those?
Thanks, just found the video I was looking for. I've own a GP-5 gas mask that a friend gave me as a Christmas gift so I was just wondering about getting a replacement filter since the old ones aren't safe to use (even though I've worn it a couple of times before i found out).
I want to buy a gp-5 gas mask the seller says it's new and never used. I fear it can have some sort of contamination on it. Should i worry, or it's just some sort of bad paranoia?
I bought my own GP-5 gas mask but only for recreational use (photography sessions ). Is there any safe filter I could by and add on to the GP-5? The looks of it is creepier with the filter :)
@@Weaponsandstuff93 Thanks a lot! By the way, what should I do with the original GP-5 gas filter? Do you know if it is safe to keep it at home or should I get rid of it (and in this case, what should I do?)
@@jorpimenta do not trowh it away cuz asbestos will spread every whare getting asbestos can cause lung cancer Just force the seal and dont unplug and keep it also it has a story its old
Hey buddy! Really love your videos. they're helpfull and contain a lot of info! Especially this one really helped me because it seems like I meassured my head wrong... I first meassured arround the forehead and back which gave me 61cm. So I ordered a GP-5 sized 3 Now I meassuered it chin to the back and I got 71cm... I can put the size 3 on, but it feels really too tight and my ears are not completely covered. SHould I sent it back and get a Size 4, since this appears to be the biggest one?
@@Weaponsandstuff93 Thanks! I will give it some time and wear it a couple of time during the next week. Another question: I realized that my eyes are really far up in the glasses when looking into a mirror. Comparing it to your eyes positioning. Is this normal? Or caused by the size?
Ideally the eyes should sit in the very middle of the lenses, but for a lot of people that's not guaranteed, also with helmet masks, the bottom sits on your chin area, not the throat so make sure you have the mask in the right position.
I have a question so i misured my head it's 58 cm (i think it's small but maybe because I'm still a teenager idk) what size should i get, the small is 63cm and the medium it's from 63,5 to 65cm. And btw I'm talking about the amazon GP 5
My GP5 is a 3 medium. It fits fine but when I look at any of my pictures, I can see my eyebrows through the lenses (obviously my eyes too)... could this mean my mask is too small or just not positioned on my head properly?
