Hoya carnosa is the most cultivated species in the genus. Its adaptability and easiness are some of the reasons many cultivators are able to create some stunning new species from it. Today we're going to look at some of those species. 😊🌿❤

What a good video.. I have one of the original hoya carnosa's it's over 46 years old.. I got cuttings from an old man 94 years and I'm sooo grateful. I got cuttings from a old crimson queen that 44 years old..

I agree with you on plants with just solid green leaves.....they tend to be my favorite plants...on any plant....I call them my CLASSICS....some colorful or variegated plants can look gaudy or too busy for Me......Everybody has different tastes....nobody needs to judge us “Classic” green plant lovers...😉✌️💜💋

You are right about about liking what you like. The regular Hoya Carnosa is actually my most favourite Hoya. I love it for how dark green it gets and how fast it grows. There’s beauty in its simplicity.

So much great info! And am of same thinking. 🙌🏻 I’ve got some ‘rare’ hoya, and they are great, but to be honest my plain Obovata is my favourite of all! I find it sad when people suddenly get interested in a particular swap (they weren’t before) when internet tells them it’s uncommon etc They are missing out on so much! 😔

Amanda, I have a Hoya carnosa that I got 40 years ago from a friends aunt It’s dark green with a light silver splash and it grows bouquets of leaves. When I take a cutting it can be a group of leaves of 3-10 leaves. I’ve never seen a carnosa like mine.

I just identified the plant someone gave me a year ago. I love it! It has really taken off in the last 3-4 months. It has really long vines with no leaves on them. Will they get leaves? Also, I notice that you have some of the vines clipped upward like they do with orchids. Does that help with the blooming or are you training it in some way? I’ve trimmed the vines and they still grow! Thanks for your help.

Your so lucky.I have tried to grow the Krinkle 8 several times and the first one had mealy's and i had no way to stop them at that time,i didn't even have rubbing alcohol in the house.The second one froze to death (my fault) and the third one came to me with root rot.I tried to save the last one,but it ended badly for that one. So i guess i'm not suppose to grow this plant? Yours is beautiful though. It's one of my faves.

If the inter-node is elongated, your plant may be stretching to get more light. I recommend increasing the light level.
@Edemamee

I would love to have dark green leaves. 😍 Now, I'm so confused.. my hoyas leaves are bright lime-green. People told me they are getting too much light. I'm wondering if I need to fertilize it because I rarely fertilize them. What fertilizer do you use & how much? Also, what grow-lights do you use? TIA!
@amandalaw7131
@amandalaw7131 3 года назад
That's a great observation!! It's absolutely understandable that you're confused. Basically if your leaves started to yellow, it could be due to nutrient deficiency (most likely nitrogen) or too much light. With that being said, you can confirm the actual cause by testing out one thing at a time. If your plant is actively growing, use a balanced fertilizer may be once every three weeks. For grow light wise, to be honest, I just use whatever I can find within my budget. But I recommend a full spectrum one (the white one) if you want to darken the foliage :)
