Hey guys thanks for the insight! Great video! Completely respect not wanting to discuss costs so no worries at all if you dont want to answer this question. Just wondering if you would be comfortable sharing what percentage of the cost was for the land vs. the house build?
Kelsey Smalley our land cost more than our house, so probably roughly 60% land, 40% house 😊 but realistically, we added our driveway, fencing & landscaping to our loan as well which i would class as part of our ‘house’ so it ended up being probably 50-50% in our total loan amount (hope this makes sense!) x
When you say the price on the website is a lot less than the actual price you pay, how much of a difference was it for you guys? This is the most daunting part for us looking to build...

You’re so lucky you had a great experience getting a home loan! My partner and I have applied for a home loan but cannot get approved due to COVID-19 even with a 20% deposit and stable jobs. We got messed around by a broker and then tried our bank, no luck :(
Do you guys share your money, have a joined bank account where both your incomes come into and you share both incomes or do you have your own accounts and transfer money into an account for food, billls, mortgage ect
tori napier we share our money but don’t have joint bank accounts. we just don’t have “my money” and “your money”, it’s all just shared wherever we need. 😊
I have a question! Is Cody still an apprentice? I only ask because my partner is still an apprentice (1 1/2 years to go) and we really want to try to start our house build a bit before that time, but I heard Cody mention tafe in the recent video and if he’s still an apprentice that gives me hope they will still consider us! And as for yourself Bek, are you in a permanent job, part time or casual? Again just so I can relate it to my own situation to see how good our chances are of getting approved haha
yes codys an apprentice but he’s got a full time job through it ☺️ he’s got like 6 months left of his apprenticeship i think. The bank just saw that he gets paid the same amount of money every week from the same employer for the past 3 years so they were fine with it! I am permanent at my school & part time at my dance studio ☺️ they didn’t seem to have any issues with us! They said we were ‘dream borrowers’ because we had steady jobs, income and no debt at all. Hopefully it’s just as easy for you! x

My partners in a similar situation as Cody except I’m the main problem being casual, but we have a deposit and no debt and I do get regular pays each fortnight and have been employed for nearly 12 months so I guess we’ll just have a chat to the bank and see what they think ☺️🤞🏾

Jayashani Gunarathne generally they’re for about 30 years that’s for an average house loan in Australia say $400,000-$500,000 about what you’d pay for rent for a similar sized house. That’s generally specking. Lots of variables 😊

Jayashani Gunarathne also need deposit depends where you live it can be from 5-10% of the total house value. If you are Australian citizen you are entitled to the $10,000 first home owners grant that you can use on the deposit.
