I think you would really enjoy a 3d printer. It might be a little time consuming to design things if you're not used to it, but I imagine you printing out a ton of little clips and guides and tube extensions and fun shapes to help with your instrument creations. Spacers, guides, mouthpieces, brackets, etc!

I love the different percussive beats with the wind of the flutes weaving in and out .So truly African inspired, makes me feel like the feel of the animals and birds feeling free in nature, if I would invision from hearing the different sounds.

Outstanding! It was good to hear the story of how Dramane came to play a flute that was from a different country to the one he's from. It was wonderful seeing how creative Nicolas can be with his flute building - it clearly impressed Dramane too! The music you both made together was superb. I'm grateful for the subtitles too. Bravo à tout les deux pour cette superbe video! Vous avez fait preuve de créativité et disponibilité l'un envers l'autre...c'est beau! Par contre, je dois dire que le titre est décevant. 'All about Peul Flute' en Anglais traduis, 'tout sur la flute peule' et comme vous imaginez il reste beaucoup de chose à dire sur cette flute en terme de son histoire singulier et de sa fabrication. Vous n'avez pas parlé de sa plus grande particularité, son biseau rectangulaire entouré de cire! Vous auriez pu aussi parlé du fait qu'une flute à trois trous donne une gamme à 7 notes (par le biais des harmoniques, le minimalism Africain à l'oeuvre! Et l'autre grand absent de cette video 'tout sur la flute peule' : son jeu verticale. Cette particularité fait qu'elle joue un role d'accompagnateur dans la musique peule, et de ce fait, n'est pas uniquement un instrument se situant en haut de la pyramid (rythme, harmonie, mélodie) en jouant que des mélodies, comme dans le cazi totalité des traditions de flute dans le monde. En dernièrement, la 'flute peule' est partagé parmi d'autres ethnies (surtout les Mandingues et Susu) qui, réclame les origines de cette flute disant donc, 'flute Mandingue, ou Susu'...portant elle est la meme....peut-etre le sujet d'une autre video! Malgré ces manquement concernant le titre, je vous félicite pour votre travail et votre partage de connaissance!

So interesting... But it's certainly not only the flute's shape or the way of producing the sound that makes it characteristic of that region? Now that you got me curious I wonder what scales they use? Is it a lead or accompanying instrument? What are the other instruments they play with in a village? On what occasions? What do you say, how do you compare such instruments to western classical; differences and similarities... what problems and challenges they present... Three holes he mentions... Does it mean he's limited to a... pentatonic scale? Or which one? Cause he says he doesn't have a chromatic scale! I'd really like to hear what you'd have to say!

Merci Dramane pour ce partage. N'oublions pas que notre maître Mamady Mansaré père n'est pas Peul il est Malinké et la tradition de la flûte Malinké ne vient pas directement des Peuls et inversement. De même que Kikala Oularé paix à son âme, Mamady Fule de Faranah ou encore mon maitre Sekou Keita de Baro Koumana...Pour moi flûte pastorale et flûte Peule sont deux choses bien différentes. Je trouve domage que tu joues avec une flute de Mansaré sur cette vidéo sans le nommer et sans parler de la flute Malinké . Bien à toi. Ziliyn
