K T Samuel i am so grateful for your time in educating us. Please dont worry about the criticism, if you are not criticised then you must know you are not doing a good job but any good thing you do there will be opposition - look at story of Christ he came for our sake but not only did man criticise all his teachings they even killed him, its human nature. I live in the uk and i want to use my land in ghana to run this snail farming to make some money and also to help 3 people in ghna who have been very helpful and loyal to me in the past 15 years,, you know when i told them what i wanted them to do they were disheartened so i sent them your videos and some others too and they were shocked, now they are so excited. What am i saying there is gold in ghana but people dont know about it, you are educating us about it and some of us are very grateful. I will be in ghana in October to start this business and I will be contacting you for training for the 4 of us. I am confident this will work well.
I have began my snail farm using the wooden box with the black rubber covering inside....and within six weeks i have lost close to 30 snails....so depressing! But i have learned something here, and i pray i will be smiling again. I am very determined to make this project work.

Many thanks for this tutorial. The best I have seen lately. My concern is that, when you cement the floor, the floor is not drained. Is there no likelihood of flooding the pen when wetting, sprinkling water. Thank you.
Do a German floor. And manually check the soil to see if you’re doing an over-irrigation. The excess water is able to escape through the microscopic holes of the German floor.
I have been asking myself why should I not add loamy sand into the build pen has told by my mentor. But I feel convinced that I need to so as to make it more comfortable for them
I wished I could tell you more but I cannot type it all. Note that the pen housing may be one of the best housing for snails but if do not get the right person to educate you on how to manage the snails in the housing, you may lose your investment. For instance a woman was lied to by her mentor to stock each pen with 2,500 snails just so that he can sell more snails to her. That was a terrible advice. I’m just saying.

No disrespect to Zenak but I’ve been doing snail farming for years. You guys compare me to people who just started months ago. If you understood snail farming properly and the way snails behave, you’ll raise so many questions with the design of his housing.

I can tell u those consultants who construct these net pen are also taking note of ur concerns and trying to make things right. In my greenhouse I am going to take ur positive points and marry it with other people points to get the best U made a big mistake about the length of one’s involvement in snail farming. I’m not Mensah , I’m KT Samuel. Mentioning experience wasn’t a big mistake. I showed your methods to an 80 year old man who has been farming snails for more than 3 decades. Though he had never come across the new net house module. He raised so many question in just a matter of 10 minutes. Do you know why? It’s because he has amassed so much knowledge and experience over the period. He understood how the animals lived and wanted to know know how those needs and characteristics will be managed in the housing and he was right. It’s okay for people to question innovations. The ocean gate submarine that just imploded was an innovation that was questioned by one former staff. He was painted black like you guys are doing to me. Just because I’m telling you all the long term effects that are glaring?

Hmm, chief the only next suggestion is the various types of ant baits found on online stores. But that may only be a temporary solution. Protect your investment

Please my land is under cashew trees and I plan to construct trenches without cementing the floor because i want boil hot water to sterelize the soil before stocking snails on regular basis. I cannot afford building roofs under them since the trees give a lot of shade. what is your view. Thanks
Bro, you know snails under cashew trees is not safe. What happens to the vegetation beneath cashew trees when the cashew juice drips onto them? They burn like weedicides. This tells you it’s not safe.
Build a roof the traditional way. It’s even better. Use wood from the farms as pillars are roofing frames and finally roof it with straw grass like we do for mud houses.
You said something about the cost of building trench and gallery is cheaper than greenhouse for the same quantities of sanils. Could you please provide some details of the calculations confirming which one is cheaper? Thanks
I provided such for your other comment. The maths is simple, the trench housing for 10 pens is costing you averagely 5000 cedis , a greenhouse to hold just 2000 snails costs averagely 50,000 cedis. The price is not the issue even. The issue is whether the snails are safe or not.
I have a greenhouse constructed in July last year and stocked. I'm very surprised the negative comments you've been making about the extensive system. I also have 22 pens and I can assure that the greenhouse system is the best in all aspects. Please stop spreading your falsehood.

@ Franco Obour. You are being quite unreasonable here. K. T Samuel is not spreading falsehood. He is making a lot of sense here. Just think about his reasons for saying what he said. Watch his earlier videos and you will understand him better. How can you control the activities that goes on in the green House? Logical reasoning alone should tell you that Samuel is right. His information is helping a lot of farmers. He doesn't gain anything from giving out this educative information. Stop lieing to the people.
Let us know when you make your first, second, third, etc.. snail harvest in your greenhouses after one year or two.....especially if you are in any part of Africa...I have done huge snail farming with huge investments for a period of 5 years and over. About 99% of what Samuel is saying is the truth. For your advice, if you want to succeed in snail farming in Ghana and rearing Archinatina Archinatina type, please save yourself from any form of "Greenhouses" as being preached all over. Focus on the pit/concrete system and take your time to build your business.Do not rush for huge snail numbers because you have money to start big...Hope I atleast reached out to someone.

@@k.t.samuel We started with 10,000 breeders, added another 20,000....added another 40,000 breeders, made huge investments on greenhouses and pens and picked almost nothing after 5 years beside the 3 bedroom house built on site. So many lessons have been learnt and I wish I was starting the farming today with all those funds now. I have documented from day one all the investment, issues and so on The huge lost in the greenhouses snail production have left me with huge debt ($250,000) and physically unwell. If people will not listen and still want to engage in green housing Archinatina Archinatina snail farming in especially Ghana, is up to them. I have learnt my lessons in a bitter way and wished someone prompted me on this. The only way, and I repeat the only way to have a successful snail farming of Archinatina Archinatina (AA) type is the trench or pit system...built in a way to prevent direct sunlight and rains, and preventing future invasion of termites. Yes you cannot have more pens initially as it needs more land, but start small and grow your farm organically. Listen, I got involved in every step of the farm and even slept in the farm with the farmers on several occasions, so I know what am talking about. We got our breeding snails professionally too. Well, I think I have said enough. Make use of this information the way you want. I have done my part of truth telling and hope it helped someone else.
