Good video! I think Federer probably uses it for various reasons, but he did say he uses it to increase the longevity of the string in an interview. He said the natural gut will break within 20-25 minutes if he doesn't use string savers, which is too soon even for him. We know pros usually change racquets every nine games (new balls) but nine games can easily last longer than 20-25 minutes, that means if he doesn't use string savers his string will break before the scheduled change.

Yes, the longevity of the gut strings is probably the main reason.

I just watched a documentary, where he said it feels it gives him more spin on the ball.

Good Channel~ Your kind of channel is very "RARE"... Thanks for your rational, and logical approach on every content you make. I can't believe this channel has this low subscriber number.... The majority of tennis public seems go to very odd way... For your specific, scientific explanation of racket.... now I could've set up my racket perfect ! Thanks~ : ) BTW, I think your swing style need to be a little bit more flowing~ but.. definitely, power and shot result looks whole lot better than me~ : ) all the best~!

Thank you, means a lot that you find the content valuable! I try to stay away from mainstream content that doesn't really do anything but entertain. Thanks for the observation...the technique is always a work in progress! =)

To what degree do slippery string savers like Babolat (Teflon) increase snap back during ball strike?
@MihaFlisekIT

I used both of tem, but didn't notice a diffference in terms of performance. Equal feel and string playability duration. I'm sure that tecnically there is a diffference in friction coefficient but it didn't make a diffference to me.

I used string savers long time ago, with polyester strings, and its all good. Up until tennis shops changes their stringing machine to constant pull, then the strings becomes very stiff and almost unplayable with use of string savers
@MihaFlisekIT
@MihaFlisekIT 4 года назад
Interesting. Do you have any thoughts why the constant pull is the problem?

Miha Flisek - Impacting Tennis it seems to make the tension super high. I was half panicked when my tennis shop change their machine to cp. i feel alot of change when i play, especially the stiffness. Any advise ??

@@ndk4 just change the tension, make lower

@@ndk4 Try using less of them. Like I did in this video, only on a couple of places. But it won't save the strings as well.

@@durich1000 what's your tension Mine is 23/24 I haven't tried those string savers I'll try, if need will reduce to 23/23 or 22/23, I shall see

Do they prevent string shifting?
@MihaFlisekIT
